  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) And there's the traditional single loss that winds up with SC beating the crap out of the big 10 team in the Rose Bowl. (The Rose Bowl isn't national championship this year is it?) It is, but they have a separate bowl for the title game. Also, LOL @ Nebraska. Really didn't deserve to lose, but their QB Zac Lee was absolutely atrocious. One heck of a finish.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) Another reason why I hated all those arrogant do-gooders in the student orgs like MSA and the like, they made 300 "beat furman" tshirts for MU students this weekend in tigers lair or whatever. WHo the F*** wants that. Yay!!! We beat FURMAN!!! My tshirt totally helped motivate!!! I saw that and it pissed me off too. I don't see the point and it's great material for anyone else to rip us for. All those True Tiger, etc. groups are bulls*** anyway. It's mostly fans who just started their allegiance when they enrolled. I wasn't a Missouri fan until I showed up on campus and even then it wasn't an overnight transition, but I wasn't parading my school pride around campus with a Beat Furman shirt. What a f***ing joke. It would be bad enough to make this shirt for Iowa State or Baylor, but Furman? That's completely embarrassing. This is a program that is tied for 2nd behind USC for most wins in college football since 2007 and they are printing "Beat Furman" shirts.
  3. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) How about an end of season wrap up for all the prospects that we traded this year? We're going to start rolling out some postseason features on FutureSox starting with our postseason top 25 rankings (currently in the works).
  4. If nothing else, it boosts the Big Ten by proxy. Purdue beat Toledo by 21, granted at home, but the 35 they gave up to the Rockets doesn't seem so awful now.
  5. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) And a system that wouldn't take into account some period of adjustment after a guy gets promoted doesn't make much sense to me. No sense in penalizing a guy who played well enough to get promoted, and have him trail a guy who stayed behind and didn't play as well until later in the year. It's the hot sheet. Purely stat based rankings among actual prospects. It's not a prospect ranking.
  6. Flowers is getting penalized for struggling in AAA, which seems fair enough to me.
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) Colorado really really blows. Looks like winless in the Big 12. Who knew Boise would be an easier job?
  8. Hahaha dicks. That's pretty hilarious though.
  9. I'm not fully on the Holmberg bandwagon, though I liked the pick. Shoemaker could produce, but he was way old for the Appy League and I had to give Colligan some love.
  10. Clausen really shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the other 2. Dez Bryant is at least in the conversation.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) You guys hang on my every word, even the dangling participles. That is a great line in those commercials.
  12. Great Falls completed game GF game 2
  13. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) Chuck Norris is a b****. Bold words. Neither of you have anything on the Dos Equis man haha.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) In all seriousness, have you been to the Swamp? If not, I'd go. It would be cool to see your team playing there regardless of outcome. That's so true. I went to a game at OU where Mizzou lost and it's still one of my top memories.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Every year they say that ND's schedule is weak, and every year 6 or 7 of the teams on their schedule make bowl games. That only makes it average though. It's not loaded with creampuffs, but it's not loaded with top 25 teams either. Just one on the entire schedule? It's essentially a Big East schedule, not worse, but not much better if at all. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) It hasn't been weak at all the last two years, that (along with Charlie Weis) has played a major role into their play. Fair, but they lost to Syracuse. No excuses at that point. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) That's my point. Most teams that have conference schedules play relative lower talent teams too. Penn State has Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Minnesota... USC has Washington, Washington St., Stanford, Arizona, Oregon St... Florida has Vanderbilt, Mississippi St, South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky... Texas has Kansas St, Texas A&M, Iowa St, Baylor, Colorado... Plus in their non-conference games, they play teams like St Mary's School For Girls, and Broken Pelvis State. That's fine, but a team or two from each of those lists would be an above average team on Notre Dame's schedule this year. Northwestern, Iowa possibly. Oregon State probably will be, Arizona could be. South Carolina or Auburn? Baylor for sure, maybe Colorado. ND's schedule is weak for a big program that is preseason top 25. It's a Big East caliber schedule, which is only ok. Gonna need 2-3 teams to go above expectations on that schedule. That's not unthinkable, but not probable.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Perhaps N.D.'s schedule isn't so easy after all. No, it is. It's worse than almost any BCS schedule, including a lot of Big East schedules.
  17. Great season opener by Mizzou. Still don't buy the Illinois WR core hype. Granted Been being out was massive, but the WRs didn't stand out. Juice does a great job of making them look worse though. He has to be one of the worst passing QBs in a BCS program.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) There's no real reason. I have some money. I have no desire to get a job in journalism. I'm thinking about grad school. It all pointed to going to Brazil. Join the club sans the Brazil part lol. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) I will literally suck my own dick. If you could pull that off, you would have already done it. You're no Ron Jeremy.
  19. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) IF they go undefeated I think they started ranked high enough to maybe sneak into the National Title game with a few bounces their way.. You're right, but that really shouldn't be the case. As much fun as it can be to root for these "mid-majors" Boise doesn't deserve to be anywhere in that conversation. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Blount suspended for the whole season. I'm glad this is the result, I thought he'd get off easy. Also, thanks to the kid for not coming to FSU. If that was us, it'd be breaking news on ABC, CBS, and every other station out there. It's a little harsh IMO. My thing is that the fans can say whatever and the player is supposed to take it. Granted, he should take it and not listen, but still the fans don't get in any trouble for being complete a-holes. Punishment aside, that was a damn good punch. Athletes usually look awful in fights.
  20. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) If there is a list of the most under-the-radar prospects nationally, who practically no one pays attention to but who WILL play in the Majors, CJ has got to be on it. Agree, for once.
  21. This was mentioned at the US Open. The guy who won is now in the US Open 3rd round.
  22. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) I was curious as to an innings limit for him, but I noticed in his bio that he actually pitched ~160 innings last year between ODU and pro ball. That would indicate to me that he might be OK up to 175 innings, or so, unless college innings are deemed less taxing (though I don't know why they would be when you consider that his college numbers last year aren't quite as good as his pro innings have been, and that he probably, as a result, was throwing more pitches per inning last year.) College innings and outings are actually probably more taxing because the priority is winning so pitchers are pushed a bit more, especially the good ones.
