The funny thing is that his last inning he gave up a run...and it lowered his ERA 12 points. :headshake There are few things in life more depressing than watch our 5th starters go on the mound. Holy crap it's 11-6. Way to give us some luck Rock! We scored 11 yesterday. We just need some pitching...

Munoz looks awful guys. Plain and simple. I don't want to completely judge him on one start, but damn this guy has been awful. To be honest Munoz is showing more in this 3rd inning than Rauch ever has (it's called character). Diaz is really the guy to me. He is just one pitch away from being a solid pitcher. He has good control, but throws too many strikes. Don't get me wrong, I want Diaz in AAA getting more time. Cotts was given a total bs chance as a starter. Munoz is just sucking. He could be a reliever, but I don't see him ever being a good starter.
-
If we want to make the playoffs we are going to need him or a player of his caliber. I don't see the Indians or Brewers trading their young aces when they are young and upcoming teams probably a year away from making a serious push.
-
I think Munoz should have had a start or 2 at AAA for the sake of easing the jump. Sure he did pitch in AAA last year, but that's a 2 level jump. I still think Diaz, Cotts, and Rauch could have done better if handled on full rest and stretched out (in the case of Cotts). I wouldn't doubt KW making a trade for another starter tonight. If he doesn't we are looking at Jason Grilli as our next 5th starter candidate.

That picture has always bothered me. Then again I made the sig.

I've been pumped and burned once too many on 5th starters this year. I'm optimistically skeptical.

Ya know it's bad when the sub title is 'Sweeney got a hit'. Everybody laughed at me when I said he was overmatched and the Sox should have sent him to Kanny from the start. Now I get to be an asshole and say I told ya so. Though I agree that it's impossible to tell if he is overmatched or not without seeing him play personally. Good to see Kelly do well at Great Falls. It's a shame he couldn't get it done in Kanny earlier this year. Maybe he just needs more time.

Ok this is sad. Stealing 3rd on the Expos when you've already scored 2 runs is like stealing with a 9 run lead. Stop it guys.

Why did you jack cwsox's sig? WTF?
-
What teams did you want to be drafted by? How did you find out you got drafted, who picked you, what pick, etc?
-
LMAO. It's ok. At least I got to make fun of DBAH0 for it.

Good article, gives info on Great Falls White Sox Interesting to see who is going where. I'm guessing all the high schoolers we signed are headed to Bristol as they said there are only 2 teenagers on the Great Falls roster. I'm still not sure where they are sending Gonzalez. It's either Bristol or Kanny, I'm leaning towards Kanny.

Maybe even Flores, he has been dominant this season.
-
I think it's a combination of the 2 as well as unrealistic expectations from us fans (he is 19 in the Carolina League and skipped low A ball) and he is probably putting too much pressure on himself.
-
Yeah, but you still misspelled his name. It's Lucy, not Lucey.
-
It just happened and it isn't earth shattering news. Give it time. ESPN has it on their transaction page.

Lumsden Assigned to Winston-Salem Compensatory pick Tyler Lumsden sent to Winston-Salem By Danny Santaromita The White Sox continued the trend of being very aggressive with their draftees this year. After signing most of the early round draft picks they first sent Josh Fields to high A Winston-Salem. Joining Fields will be the Sox 2nd pick, Tyler Lumsden from Clemson University. Lumsden was the 34th pick in the 2004 Amateur Draft. Lumsden and fellow compensatory draft pick Gio Gonzalez were presented at U.S. Cellular Field June 11th after signing soon after they were drafted. This season for Clemson Lumsden posted a 5-4 record with a 3.98 ERA in 14 starts and one relief appearance. This was his junior year and he was a crucial part in leading the Tigers to their 18th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The lefty led the team in innings pitched (81.1), strikeouts (88), and was tied for the team lead in wins (5). The 6'3" 200 pounder's fastball ranges from 90-92. He changes speeds well and hits his spots. Lumsden joins a Winston-Salem club that continues to load up on top prospects. The White Sox first two picks in last year's draft, Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, along with hot hitting Thomas Brice patrol the outfield. Josh Fields and Tyler Lumsden, the first two picks in this year's draft, should add a lot to the team. The first half of the season is wrapping up for the Warthogs and their record stands at 28-39, last place in the Carolina League's Southern Division. The first half of the season is nearing it's end and the Warthogs' new look roster could make a better push in the 2nd half. To make room for Lumsden, Melvin Perez was transferred to rookie level Great Falls. In 12 games for the Warthogs Perez hit .214 with 1 RBI.

You think there are any more deals coming soon
danman31 replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
By Saturday for the 5th starter to make his appearance? This is merely the setup deal. I think KW will make 2 deals, 1 for a pitcher and 1 for a hitter because he tends to make 1 more trade than is desperately needed. He doesn't just trade to fill holes, he trades to improve mediocre positions. -
From a 4.47 ERA with the Sox. That's not sucking and those later numbers are not dominating.
-
David Wells did in no way, shape, or form suck as much as Koch. Plus he didn't dominate after he left.
-
:fyou You are such a closet Cubs fan and I'm sick of it. :fthecubs
-
Koch won't dominate because he still doesn't have great stuff, but he can't do worse than he did with the Sox. The guy we got sounds like a speedster. So whether he can hit or not he can be a solid pinch runner hopefully.
