  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Can you tell us why? No power, poor contact rate. He hasn't hit particularly well in A ball. Sub .800 OPS in A ball doesn't bode well for a MLB prospect. Knights lost game 1 6-4 Rienzo 5 IP, 5 K to 1 BB, but 5 ER and 2 HR allowed.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 6, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) Out of Mitchell, Walker, and Thompson making it to the bigs and being good, my money is on Walker. I don't see him hitting at the big league level at all really. He might be a bench guy. He probably has the highest floor of that group though. Kanny lost 3-2. Brennan 7 K, 2 BB, 8 GO, 1 FO in 5.2 IP.
  3. QUOTE (floridafan @ Apr 5, 2013 -> 08:20 PM) I think it is interesting how players are assigned to rosters then cut, as opposed to just releasing them after ST. Yeah, I was wondering that myself. MiLB rosters are anything, but stable so get used to it I guess.
  4. Rangel Ravelo has 3 walks in 2 games. Well ahead of his standard pace so far.
  5. Thompson starts the 2013 season in AA Birmingham. He hit a solo homer on Opening Day.
  6. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) I saw Birmingham put a couple players on DL. Carroll and Sierra are for sure. Good catch. I saw Sierra, but Carroll was one of those guys floating around. Kyle Bellamy is probably on a DL somewhere too. It's a shame about him. I thought he had a good chance.
  7. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Got my new BA today in the mail, add Brandon Parrent as a released player along with Umberger, Hanna etc... that was listed last week on a post. I think those were a bit older. That said I'm still missing a few other names just hanging in no-man's land as far as I know.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) I think this is new, and I approve... http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130403 What took so freaking long?
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) It does seem odd to me, some of the older guys not being pushed. Shoemaker in W-S? Haddow? Smith? I personally think all three have talent, and have a shot at being something of value maybe. But with guys like that, fringey prospects too old for level, I really believe you need to push them up and see what happens. You need to get over the Shoemaker thing. He's on the DL. Maybe they just want to give him a few weeks to get back in the swing of things at Winston-Salem and then move him up. Maybe he never plays for Winston-Salem at all.
  10. QUOTE (floridafan @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) As of right now I do not know where Grabe is going. I would expect Kannapolis but he has yet to leave Arizona. So I don't really know. He's not going straight to Kannapolis, but I think he will get there after Ravelo gets some time. Once he reacclimates himself to game action Grabe probably takes his place. Not sure why they couldn't just send Eric to Kannapolis as a bench guy straight away and then work him into the lineup.
  11. That lineup looks like it will do some damage. DeMichele at the top of the order with Hawkins and Smith in the middle. Throw in some milb vets that should put up numbers with a hitter friendly park and that's going to be fun.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) --On the pitching side though, some fun names. Olacio, Brennan, Leyer, Hardin, Kibby, Jaye and Gunter all worth keeping an eye on. Looks like the rotation will be Brennan, Olacio, Kibby, Jaye and Leyer. Although there is that rumor about Lopez as well. I think Jake Cose could slide into the rotation with Olacio coming out of the pen. I think they may try Olacio as a starter again, but given his age he can still come out of the pen and be gaining valuable experience. My first instinct was to say Olacio probably starts, but I'm not as sure now that I look at the roster. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) I'd keep an eye on Jason Coats too. He was projected to be drafted in the top 10 rounds prior to tearing his ACL. Worth watching. That's not entirely true. Coats was viewed as a potential 2nd or 3rd rounder after his sophomore season and solid Cape Cod League showing, but he struggled with the new bats in college his last two years. He was taken outside the top 10 rounds as a junior and his senior year wasn't much better. The ACL injury certainly dropped him, but he wasn't likely to be a top 10 round pick anyway.
  13. Holy crap I just realized Olacio is listed as 6-7, 270! That's 40 more pounds than last year!
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) Not if you deserve a trip to the Final Four. Yawn. Wichita State is in the final four, it's clearly not that hard to get to. I think Duke and Louisville were the best two teams in the country this year. It's silly the team with the better resume and the head-to-head win got stuck playing the only semi-road game of the Elite 8.
  15. I'm too lazy to give the links, but according to their own twitter posts Mitchell to AAA, Walker to AA, Hawkins to high-A. Also looks like Kanny's roster has been posted. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t...ue&sid=t487
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) I think the refs have called it pretty tight both ways. I would like them to let both teams play more. They called it tight early and stopped that in the second half. Duke really fell apart once Louisville made a run, which is what happens when you're the road team.
  17. The refs have decided Louisville is going to win. A Louisville player rolled over with the ball and they didn't call a travel. Also hearing the Louisville crowd really points out how the committee did Louisville a massive favor they didn't necessarily deserve. Duke had the better RPI, same amount of losses and won the head to head earlier in the year. Their reward? A semi-road game in the Elite 8. Louisville certainly deserved a No. 1, but it's very hard to argue such a gap between the teams, especially in Louisville's favor. Yet, the crowd seems to be giving them a big edge.
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 02:08 PM) Florida just getting exposed. They played crap SEC games and then had 3 layups in the NCAAs. They had some strange road losses in the SEC, but there's no question Florida is one of the best teams out there this year. They routed Marquette, which somehow made the Elite 8. This game isn't over unless Michigan decides to show over 60 percent from 3 all game.
  19. And the tourney blow outs continue. What's with teams laying total eggs in the elite 8?
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) If they beat an 8, 1, and a 2, they deserve the Final Four spot. Don't give me Gonzaga as a 1. That was total BS. They were the worst No. 1 seed in the history of the tournament and played like it. WSU belongs because they beat Ohio State today. It just bothers me when a team like this makes the Final Four because they're not especially good. It devalues the accomplishment of getting to the Final Four. It's supposed to be the promised land to show you were an elite team. By no definition is WSU an elite team. For some reason this one bothers me while I thought VCU and George Mason were cool cinderella stories. How much is the Duke-Louisville winner going to beat them by? 15+? That's not what I want to watch in a national semifinal. The committee definitely set this up by putting the worst team at each of the top 5 seed lines in the same bracket. OSU was a 4 seed that got hot at the right time, but wasn't consistent all year.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) Wichita State has made some dumb mistakes down the stretch, but Christ the officials are giving OSU every call WSU got every call in the first half. The refs were terrible, but it didn't change the outcome. If OSU plays for even 15 minutes of that game, they win. They played hard for the last 10 and it was too late.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) ? Um, yes they are. Still pretty inexcusable performance though. Wichita State has 3 losses outside the top 100 and just 3 versus the top 50. Not a good team. They're decent, but they're nowhere near Final Four quality. The only reason they're here is because they took advantage of an easy draw. Pitt, Gonzaga, La Salle is one of the easier Elite 8 trips you'll get. This one, however, is a real upset.
  23. WTF is this Ohio State? Wichita State isn't a good team. This is pathetic.
  24. Good move for Alford to get out of New Mexico. Seemed like he reached his ceiling there. Good hire for UCLA? Not as sure about that.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 10:39 PM) Zeller getting dominated, Ferrell out of his league and no one can buy a bucket. Recipe for a disaster. Zeller was always going to be limited because of Syracuse's length in their zone. The problem was IU had a freshman point guard and no one else that consistently drove the lane. Down double digits with less than 6 minutes left and IU was still just passing the ball around the perimeter wasting time. Watford did drive on one, but even then Syracuse was able to get good help D and make him miss the first attempt before getting a rebound. Syracuse had better athletes and was able to match up to take Zeller out of the game. It's hard to see how Indiana ever beats Syracuse the way they looked today.
