  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) Mizzou vs. U of I will be quite the game, as it used to be (and was last year, great game). I think mizzou will get crushed. Our team I thought would get better at guarding the perimeter on 3s this year, but our rotations are just horrid. I'm anxious to see Jabari Brown's addition to the team, a lot landed on his shoulders with Mike Dixon's departure. We need a second ball-handler, a dynamic one. Keion Bell and Webster-Chan are just at best capable. Our turnovers are extreme and our 3 point shooting is gone. But there's so much there, it just needs to come together. Other things will come with time given the turnover from last year's team. They just need 3-point shooting. Dixon was the team's best shooter. Hopefully Brown will be. I actually had a nightmare where Illinois beat Missouri and it actually woke me up. Talk about being a hardcore fan, ha. Also, in case anyone didn't know or forgot last year's Mizzou team was playing without its best player, Laurence Bowers. If he was on that team, man, the possibilities. It's fun to see him back, but it just makes me that much more sad that he was out last year.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) Holy f***ig s*** michonne, you answered my eyepatch question. Good drama this week. Some of the story is getting a bit ridiculous though.
  3. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 2, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) NIU played nobody, beat nobody, lost to Iowa. Simply winning the MAC doesn't mean you deserve a spot. This isn't undefeated Boise St we're talking about. You watch football enough and watch an FSU/Oklahoma/UCLA play, there's no way you think NIU is near that caliber. Yeah, you can't lose to Iowa without a halfway respectable win and cry about going to a BCS game. If NIU gets to a BCS game, it's just another example of how f***ed up the system is. NIU isn't good, let's move on.
  4. He didn't trust the QB and I have a hard time blaming him. A yard isn't that hard to gain.
  5. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 03:51 AM) Juan Agudelo - any thoughts on this guy? Just saw a story there that a move to Celtic might be on the cards. Any read on what this young lad is like? Talented, but not mature yet. I don't think he's good enough for Celtic at this point in his career, but he certainly will be at some point. With the lack of competition in the SPL he can fit in and get some minutes while they train him up (in theory).
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) Lane Kiffin is a terrible football coach. Unbelievably awful clock management here. What do you want from him? He threw on first down two times in a row. His team got to the one-yard line. Your offense has to be able to get that.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) The GamePad is pretty cool, but I want to see some truly unique experiences with it and that's going to have to come from Nintendo. 3rd parties are just going to port the s*** out of the system by adding touch screen gimmicks. Nintendo needs a Mario/Zelda/Metroid that does something incredible by next Christmas or the system is going to lose steam fast, especially with new consoles from Microsoft & Sony around the corner. What really scares me though is that it took Nintendo basically the life of the Wii system to create a game that could really showcase the potential of motion gaming (Skyward Sword), so god only knows how long before we see that killer app for the Wii U. Also, without a Wii Sports like title that caters to casual gamers, which Nintendoland won't do well enough IMO, Nintendo will lose a big chunk of their current market share. Even with the ports, something like what ACIII did on Wii U, which is have the map on your gamepad, is very slick. I'm always pausing to see where I am and where I need to go in open world games. To constantly have that screen available is nice. I'm not interested in the first party games, but with any console the developers take a couple years and tries to figure out how to maximize the hardware. They'll figure it out. My concern is that the Wii U is merely a slicker version of the current systems. When the next gen Xbox and Playstations come out the Wii U won't be able to run the same caliber of games. So, as usual, only buy a Nintento console if you're interested in the first party games. There's plenty of people that fit that though.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 01:40 AM) I have a feeling that the Wii U will be the biggest console flop ever. There are far too many Nintendo fans for that to be true. It may not be a huge success, but it won't flop.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) Just so I can quote him Im going back on my dvr: Katz said: The target is going to be on Indiana's back this season. Crean: The targets big, thats the way it is when your at Indiana. There are just a few programs in the country where it doesnt matter what your record is or what the standings are. Guys come to Indiana for that. ----------------------------- Add his arrogant smirk and he is possibly the least likable person in the world. Ha that is pretty laughable. Post Knight IU has been a pretty poor basketball program so that allure is long gone. They were very lucky to have top tier in-state talent at the right time or they could have been waiting a while longer to get a team like this. Now that the program is respectable again they might be able to get a few out of state kids, but IU is going to live or die on in-state talent. That can win them some things if they can get all those kids.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:22 PM) Illinois taking care of business. What a difference a coach makes. Come on it's a DII school.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 20, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) Georgetown should have gone for the win in regulation. You arent going to win many games when you have 20 less free throws. Yeah, I haven't paid close enough attention to complain about the refs, but that is a troubling free throw difference.
  12. Otto Porter is the best player on the floor right now. Nice choke job by IU.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) So some encouraging contact numbers but not great results. It's AFL though so everything should be taken with a grain of salt, but it would have been nice to see some better power numbers out of him. Doesn't temper my excitement about him heading in to 2013 however. The walks are better because we know the power is there. We weren't (aren't) sure about his ability to draw walks. Hopefully this is a sign of improvement. It's not like he was awful in that aspect, but if he's going to hit for a low average it needs to be a part of his game.
  14. I watched Ok State rip up NC State today. NC State is a bit fraudulent as far as their ranking goes, but OK State has a pair of deadly scorers in Nash and Smart. Marcus Smart put on a show in the first half and Nash is as good of a scorer as there is when he's on. If those two can find some consistency that's a top 20 team.
  15. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) As much as I want a playoff system. I love that this happens in CFB. It's the only sport where every single play in every single game matters. I hate this argument. It's simply not true. Last year LSU and Bama played in the regular season and it had absolutely zero implications on the national title. One-loss teams are national champs frequently. We've seen two-loss champs (LSU 07). Bama lost at home and Georgia lost by 28 to South Carolina and both of those teams control their destiny to enter the national title game. Those losses mean virtually nothing right now. So don't give me every single game matters and that would disappear in a playoff. There's room for error now and there will be room for error then. Instead of seeing two spots everyone is trying to grab for, you'll see 4 or 8 and more teams will be more interested in a lot of games nationally down the stretch.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) Still lots of sloppy play for Mizzou on defense. Poor rotations. But I guess that comes with more time together. But I'm amazed at how much trust Haith already has in Negus Webster-Chan as a frosh. He was putting him at the 1 last night (I'm guessing the Keion Bell at the 1 experiment is over?). Really looking forward to dixon coming back, but I respect Haith sticking to his guns on this. It's hard to say anything about positions and rotations until we see what it looks like when Dixon is back. Bell is a phenomenal athlete, but not much of a basketball player. Hopefully they can find a way to utilize him, but he's not very impressive.
  17. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) For some reason I'm thinking Oregon runs the table, USC beats ND and Texas beats KSU. Hello SEC title game winner. I don't see how Texas beats K State with Texas having a s***ty QB and all. K State is the biggest favorite to go undefeated.
  18. I like doing the side missions while I'm playing the story because it breaks it up a bit. I don't play the multiplayer until I complete the single player, but I had fun with it in Brotherhood and Revelations. It's very different, but can be frustrating when the mechanics don't work properly. Hopefully they got it right with ACIII. The strategies involved make it fun.
  19. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 11, 2012 -> 09:17 PM) Tennessee fans think they have a legit shot at Gruden because his wife is a Tenn grad and from the Knoxville area, I think? I don't buy it. Tennessee fans also thought they'd win 8-9 games this year.
  20. I can't imagine Gruden taking a second tier college job like Tennessee when he can get a pro job whenever he wants it.
  21. I might be in the minority here, but I'd like to see a K State-Oregon national title game. Oregon's offense is absurd.
  22. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss. Sanchez is not only an option at third, but also at second with Beckham not having established himself. I tend to agree. It largely depends on the attitude of the front office. If they don't like the Sox's outlook, throw the young guys into the fire and see what happens. If they think they can contend, a vet comes in to make sure they get production out of that spot. I'm leaning towards giving Sanchez a shot in the hope that he succeeds and frees up money for elsewhere.

If we are still listing shows we watch, my list is quite short compared to most on here. Fringe Big Bang Theory Walking Dead Bones South Park Californication Fringe is ending in January so that may open up a slot for me to give something new a shot. I was about to bail on Walking Dead, but it's been pretty good so far this season. Meanwhile, Bones is way downhill from its first few seasons so I may bail on that eventually. I've been meaning to watch The Wire (I've barely started it) and thinking about giving Borgias a shot.
  25. I saw Aaron Bailey play last night. It was his first game back since spraining his knee midseason. He can run, but he wasn't impressive through the air. I don't know how much of that was rust though.
