9/17 Tigers at White Sox
danman31 replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2012 Season in Review
Fitting that the Tigers' defense blows it for them. Although the replay shows that Rios got there in a hurry. 2nd baseman has to get off the bag there. -

BYU-Utah just had the weirdest ending possible. BYU was down 3 on the 34 with 8 seconds left. Pass gets tipped, falls incomplete and Utah fans rush the field. They review it and put one second back, clear the field. BYU kicks at 51 yarder, it gets blocked, fans rush again. The fans (and Utah players) rushed before the ball was dead. Refs call a 15 yard penalty and give BYU another play. This time they kick from 36 and the kicker hits the post. It would have been amazing to see BYU force OT after Utah's fans blew the win by rushing early. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) Another day, another win by Maine South. Ho hum. I'm heading there next week to cover their game against New Trier. I'm excited to see Alviti in person. He really impressed me in the state title game a couple years ago. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) Pac-12 may be the best conference. SEC isnt deep at all, really top heavy this season. Big 10, ACC, Big East all suck. Hey Mizzou beat Arizona State! Does that matter at all? Amazing finish in the Ball State-Indiana game. Get a big gain with 1 second left to hit the game winning FG. That's why I love college football, even if neither of those teams are good. Side note: Colorado gave up 55 in a half to Fresno State. Holy crap. -
Morel needs to get fully healthy. I think he'll have a role in 2013. I don't know how big that role is though.

Sure looks like an auto Oscar nomination for Lewis, but this definitely looks good.

Doyle is a teammate of Brandon Allen. Remember when Soxtalk was upset we traded Allen for a reliever?

I had fun with the FIFA 13 demo. The flow seemed a bit better, but some of the changes they bragged about didn't show up as much as I expected. The new first touch engine only comes into play when you make a crappy pass or try something ambitious, which was always true but now it makes a bigger difference. The impact engine seems less stupid, but that will require further testing to see if the dumb rag doll collisions still show up. I think it's a bit like FIFA 12 2.0. I stepped right in at world class and tied the first 2 games and then won 2-0 in the third. All the same old tricks work, but the teammate AI seemed much better. I'd complain about it being a touch up of last year, but last year's game drove me insane before I finally sold it a few months ago so I'm happy that it cleans up most of my complaints so far.

Santiago got screwed by the old catcher didn't catch it therefore it was a ball call. 5th pitch of the AB was right down the freaking middle. EDIT: DP was better so it worked out. Hey a break!

Those at-bats by Johnson and Hudson could prove big in this game. They took a lot of pitches with 2 outs. Against a guy like Scherzer it's hard to ask for much more from the bottom of the order. They probably bring him out for the 6th, but likely with a short leash and that would likely be his last inning. Gives the Sox a chance to get some runs.

Knights lost 2-0. Dash blew a save in the 9th and lost in 11 to lose the series.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Probably deserved more than the 1-0 but its all about points right now. Get the win at Antigua and let Jamaica and Guatemala take points from one another. Two of the easier (on paper) games remain, playing Guatemala at home and at Antigua. Hopefully they have Bradley and Donovan for those games and they won't be a big problem. It's amazing the difference Cherundolo made. Also this: -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) Danman, are you an attorney in real life? Ha no. Was what I said that bad?

Adam Heisler hit a walk off HR in the 9th to give the Voyagers a 5-4 win. They were 2 outs from their season ending. Deciding game 3 is tomorrow. Knights won to advance to IL championship series.

So basically your argument for Phegley is that he hasn't proved he's bad due to other factors, therefore he could be good?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 09:06 AM) You're way too hard Leesman. H's gone up the org ladder every year and pitched well at each stop. If Sox don't protect him, someone will give him a shot next year. There's a big difference between giving him a shot and being the #3 prospect though.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Sucks to lose to Jamaica, but still in full control of their destiny, even if they tie Tuesday. For a second I thought, Guatemala may slip up at home to Antigua, but they are gonna win. Yeah, it's not all that devastating. I'd be far more concerned if the US dropped points at home and even then, like you said a draw isn't a big deal on Tuesday. That's defeatist in a way, but it's true. If you can't beat Guatemala at home and Antigua on the road you don't belong in the World Cup anyway. The two toughest fixtures of this round are over with and the US got one point out of those two matches. Now to get the job done. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) Very lackluster effort tonight. Just sloppy all around. Missed Landon and Bradley big time. Glad I dont have to hear the Jamaican commentator anymore. And is beIn TV carrying the road games of the Hex too? If so, ugh. I don't know if those have been bought and sold yet because the teams aren't finalized, but certainly the production quality was amateurish at times. The halftime show was embarrassing and the camera work was inconsistent. Why did it take so long for replays of the goals (or anything)? -
Addison you used to be cool. What happened to his stuff? It hasn't been the same since like May.

Sigh, not a devastating loss since the top 2 advance to the hex and that's when it really gets fun, but you hate to lose at Jamaica after leading early. Conceding two set piece goals is harsh on the US though. One was an unlucky deflection and one was a wonder goal the US couldn't do anything about. -
QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) I personally have Johnson ahead of Snodgress, whereas they are higher on the latter. I think most would agree with that. The mlb.com rankings always stray the furthest from the norm you'll find anywhere else.

Almora's contact rate is impressive. His power is not. He's not a comp for Hawkins at all.

WhiteSox.com top 20 prospects I find it hard to agree with the list, but it's good for discussion and reading material.
