  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:27 PM) I love the pick, but also think it might be a few year before things get fixed for him. It took a year to mess him up, why can't it take a year to fix?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) Damn you LPL for not including a scalebar and forcing me to do math. That image covers about a kilometer in width, if I've read LPL's scale bar correctly. So everything's a few hundred meters apart. Oh wow. I didn't read up too much on this, but it sounded like they would be further apart. That's not far at all.
  3. Knights @ Indianapolis Leesman Mobile @ Barons McCully against David Holmberg for Mobile. Dash @ Wilmington Brandon Short batting 3rd and playing RF Erik Johnson start Kanny off Billings @ Voyagers 8 Brennan Kingsport @ BriSox Sanchez rocked
  4. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) I view Sanchez as the Sox version of Jose Altuve. They seem pretty similar in my opinion. Except Carlos Sanchez has two career professional home runs. Altuve went for double digits in each of the last two years in the minors and will wind up somewhere in the 8-10 range this year in the Majors. I'm just worried about stats translating for a guy with such little power in the minors.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) That seems like a very odd comparison to me. A guy who puts up an OPS in the .600's in the minors but plays good defense at an infield position seems a lot less valuable than a guy who hits .300 throughout the minors and plays average defense at an infield position. If they keep putting up those same numbers, the .300 hitter winds up starting for a few years, even if he's not an all star, while the guy with the low .600's OPS winds up being a utility guy. I don't see Sanchez hitting .300 in the Majors if he's just a slap hitter. I see him with an empty .280-.290 average, which may or may not reach a .700 OPS. I'm thinking Alexei without the power.
  6. Sanchez doesn't seem all that different than Escobar in terms of value to me. Escobar rates as the better defender and obviously Sanchez has a better hitting record coming up through the minors. Of course, the jury is still out on Escobar's value.
  7. How far apart are those things from each other?
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) You'll get a no, she already said yes to me. I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Alex Morgan talk is out of hand. She's dating a guy on the Seattle Sounders and has been for a few years. He's lucky.
  9. He left in the 2nd so it wasn't an obvious injury. Hopefully it's nothing major.
  10. Unreal drama. Phenomenal athletic display by both teams. Almost everyone exhausted. The gold medal game against Japan will be tough on two off days. They're going to have a lot of exhausted players on Thursday.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 03:19 PM) Penalty shot coming up for the US after Canada hand-balls on a free kick The hand ball call was clear, but I don't think I've ever seen the indirect free kick call on goalkeeper stalling. Usually it's a yellow card. Really bizarre.
  12. Canada has 5 shots, 3 goals. Let's hear Hope Solo stand up for her defense now.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Rapinoe gets the equalizer for USA at 53' Direct off a corner, quite rare. Good thing the ball went back in off that defender or the ref would have been forced to make a goal line call. The keeper blocked it back out after it crossed the line.
  14. Soccer isn't being held for primetime, no spoiler tag needed. The US will probably be fine. They've controlled the run of play, but s*** happens. They have a dangerous enough attack to win this, especially against such an inferior opponent.
  15. The next trick is to bring one of these things back. I want to buy some Mars rocks.
  16. Knights lost 4-3 Mitchell 0-2, BB, K Saladino 2-4, 2B, K Mobile @ Barons Molina Potomac @ Dash Snodgress Rome @ Intimidators Lane Voyagers @ Billings Linza BriSox @ Bluefield Olacio
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) USA Volleyball choking. We're up 2-0, now heading 5th game after getting smoked in game 4. The announcers made it sound like Russia was the favorite and it was actually them choking early and now it's just back to normal.
  18. Serena's medal ceremony is pretty comical. Insane wind was blowing the flags like crazy during the anthem. The US flag ended up blowing away.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) Shoemaker with a great game, Rienzo got shelled. Charlotte is just loaded with bullpen arms doing well. Nitpicking the phrase 'shelled' but Rienzo wasn't. 4 R in 6 IP is bad and the 5 walks are awful, but I consider shelled in the more runs than IP range.
  20. Heyman just tweeted that Lee didn't clear waivers. I wonder who and what that means.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) Why does he even need that? He's not even finished with his 3rd year in the minors. Pretty sure he gets 5 or 6 years before he needs protecting. It's not 6 years. I think he has one more year protected, but he's behind other guys for a 40-man spot anyway.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:18 AM) For him to just get out there and pitch innings and stay healthy was enough for me. Maybe avoid getting completely shelled. He's done all that. More so than that, he's got 16 K against 5 BB.
  23. FYI tennis isn't subject to spoilers because they're not showing it in primetime yet. Maybe they'll show a few games of the gold medal matches in prime time, but that's pretty much done. Anything shown live on TV in the afternoon isn't subject to spoilers because they're not saving that stuff.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 09:15 PM) Was that Pink Floyd's shine on you crazy diamond for the Russian girl on balance beam? The music is only for the floor. They don't have music for the beam routines. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 02:16 AM) Because if Komova doesn't needlessly take 3 steps off the landing she wins the gold. She was so much better than Gabby on the uneven bars and especially floor routine. Honestly, and I have nothing against Gabby Douglas, but she was really lucky throughout this Olympics. First Wieber gets screwed by the judges allowing her to qualify, and then all her real competition for the gold each make one big catastrophic error. You can easily play the what if game in gymnastics, but your Komova thing is ridiculous. Douglas had the top scores in vault and beam and gymnastics is all about not making the catastrophic error. This post makes no sense at all.
