  1. I love my iPod nano because it fits into my car connector and is out of sight inside the center console. I don't want screen size because the interface is through the stereo controls anyway.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Beck gives up 2 runs in the 4th, but it looks like it was a bunch of infield hits and an error that caused the runs to score. Gotta love rookie ball.
  3. That's the plus CF from Danks. I saw him make plays like that a handful of times in a three-game series when he was in college. Reads the ball off the bat well and has the long strides to cover the ground. Escobar having himself a day at the plate. Look at the young'ins go!
  4. Sanchez is really rolling. He is easily having the best season of any White Sox prospect.
  5. It won't be Walker. Johnson would stun me, but it could also be someone of much lesser value. When the deadline to name the player? Wasn't that mentioned somewhere?
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 01:19 AM) Ah, ok. I didn't realize that detail. I guess I didn't realize Terry Doyle had 5 years of experience, but being like 26 or whatever he is, it's possible. EDIT: Actually, Doyle only has 3 years of minor league service time, according to Baseball-reference. He joined the league in 2008, and was Rule-V drafted prior to the 2012 season. 19+ year old players when drafted have 4 years before hitting Rule 5 eligibility. Doyle was drafted by the Sox in 08 so he had four minor league seasons before the Twins took him.
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) I thought the ceremonies were boring and uneventful. Well...yeah. What do you expect?
  8. QUOTE (th0mas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:38 PM) Why would they start his arbitration clock just to pinch run? September call ups don't count for that.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Walker has been very impressive especially considering his slow start in April (May too I believe.) Still has to work on his K rate, but I think you can make a case for him as their #1 prospect right now. That's a reach at this point. He was good, but not great at Kannapolis. Decent average, good walk rate, good steal numbers, but bad K rate and minimal power. He's red hot in High-A, but it's been 10 games. Let's not jump to huge conclusions over a 10 game stretch. If he keeps up these numbers through the end of the year, then sure he's the No. 1.
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) True. But he was thought to be a relatively advanced specialist who could move through the organization quickly. Problem is he's been plagued by control issues. And a reliever with control issues.... not going to hit too many top prospect lists. Seems like he has a mental block about pitching in Birmingham. I'd try moving him up to Charlotte. No reason to move him back to high-A... he's dominated twice there... but can't find the plate in Birmingham. He hasn't been fully healthy either time in AA. He got injured the first time around and probably pitched through it at first. Now he's working his way back and may not be 100%. I wouldn't label it a mental block until we know the injury isn't at work. I'm not rating him in the top 30 prospects or anything, but he still has a chance.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) W-S definitely the most intriguing team to follow right now. I'm pretty sure that's because they're in the playoffs and the Sox wanted to stack the roster/get the prospects some experience.
  12. Scranton-WB @ Knights Castro Barons @ Chattanooga Arroyo Carolina @ Dash Johnson Thompson already with a HR Intimidators @ Savannah Devenski Voyagers off Bristol lost game 1 1-0 Nice start from Olacio Bristol game 2 Cose
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) Except those dudes aren't even close to the majors yet. Sanchez is within a year I think. The way he's hitting AA now he could start 2013 in AAA. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 11:29 AM) I hope it's Veal first. Veal is a lefty, Kloess is a righty. I doubt they're competing for a spot with each other.
  14. Since when can you recruit players that are currently under scholarship? I thought the player had to say he was transferring before they could do that.
  15. Anybody buying Mountain Lion for Apple? Worth getting? The features don't impress me, but maybe there's something I'm missing.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) I'm seeing a guy with a heck of a lot of line outs this season who was hitting really well in the 2 hole which should re-open next season. I must be missing these line outs. He's had so many bad at-bats.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) Beckham hasn't been very good offensively this year, but he has hit better than his numbers. He's definitely worth keeping around. I'm amazed people can still defend Beckham offensively at this point. What player are you watching?
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) Damn, you beat me to it. This scares me. I hope Kenny doesn't throw a flurry of prospects at the Brewers for a rental. I want Grienke, but the cost scares me. Let's be honest here, is there anyone in the system that you wouldn't trade right now? Keep in mind that you can't trade 2012 picks so any excitement about Hawkins or Barnum is irrelevant here. That leaves Castro, Hernandez, Molina, Mitchell, Thompson, Walker, Sanchez. Anyone in that group you'd really be sad about losing?
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) BTW, that Kannapolis roster is starting to get ugly. I think we'll see several guys from Bristol, at least Hawkins and Barnum, make the jump straight to full season ball next year. Not much position playing talent on Great Falls' roster. Yeah, most of the exciting prospects on Kanny have been moved up. Winston-Salem will be in the playoffs so that's good and could be one of the reasons why we're seeing the promotions. Usually the high draft picks go to Kanny straight away to give them better experience so Hawkins and Barnum would likely go there along with Beck and the top college picks. Basto (5th round) might stay in extended since he's struggling in rookie ball now.
  20. Barons @ Chattanooga Bayne Bristol off, the rest play tonight.
  21. They got one back. Wambach header, what else. Gotta love women's soccer lol.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) France up 1-0 on the US. WTF? 2-0. The US continues to completely fail at defense. They blew the World Cup with awful defending and gave up 2 on the only 2 attacks France has had so far. Pretty laughable.
  23. Smith needed a push. He should probably be pushing for a spot in AA to start next year.
  24. QUOTE (northside sawx @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Whatever happened to Greg Golson? I know he was on the DL... Still on the DL. Justin Greene, who was Charlotte's CF, swapped places with Mitchell.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) He's got a great arm. Yeah, I liked Snodgress when the Sox drafted him. He's been somewhat inconsistent as a pro, but has had solid numbers. He was wild with Kanny. Hopefully he was working on something and his promotion is a sign that he's ready to show his best stuff because this is a very impressive debut after a promotion.
