  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) I'd be furious as an opposing player/coach to see them chuck 3 after 3 in the fourth quarter. I'd be furious at my players for being so lazy on screens.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) Sorry, but this is ridiculous. They're chucking up 3's left and right, goaltending like they don't give a s***, etc. This is not enjoyable to watch at all. Sure, if your root for the US, this is a ton of fun. But even then, come on. No respect. It is ridiculous because they're making everything in sight! They're shooting a ridiculous percentage and they're putting on a show. I understand the score is absurd, but it's a shooting display unlike anything you'll ever see.
  4. I've been quite pleased with what Beck has shown so far.
  5. Joel Freeland looked damn good too. The Trail Blazers signed him this year to make his NBA debut. He's 6'10" with shooting range and decent ball skills. He can stick in the league. That was a really exciting finish, but GB didn't have enough. Their guard play isn't good enough to compete in the Olympics, but they got a lot out of the front court, even against the Gasols.
  6. Looks like injuries. He hasn't pitched much since being drafted.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) Any ideas why Bristol as a team is having such a bad season? Do we have more high school kids than usual there? The high schoolers haven't stood out and none of the foreign prospects have been any good.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) What am I supposed to see in that gif? The best vault in the world. The push off she gets off the vault is ridiculous and then she sticks the toughest vault around.

  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:35 PM) How can Reed being 18/21 in SVO be overstated? Escobar and Hernandez turn into Liriano? Lillibridge and Stewart into Youkilis? More pieces into Myers? Suffice it to say, if we didn't have Jones, Reed and Quintana, we would have been screwed completely. Even Danks has done decently in a complementary role. Flowers, while not a rookie, is progressing nicely. All of those guys in our bullpen saved money we would have had to spend on the likes of Jason Frasor and another veteran....they also forced the Sox to turn their roster over from Ohman to more talented pitchers with better stuff. This might be your best post ever. You stayed on topic, no weird tangents and it actually made sense. What's wrong with you?
  11. It's fun to out "Twins" the Twins. Two infield singles, a wild pitch and a ground out to advance a runner scores a run. Garbage run, but you gotta love it.
  12. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Question for someone who follows men's gymnastics: how is it that the Chinese men's team was so dominant in the team competition, but they have no contenders in the individual all-around (top finisher was 30th)? Is the whole team specialized guys who are awesome in 2-3 events? Their qualifying score was 269, which was good for 6th place. The top 8 made the team final and get a reset on their score (for some dumb reason). In the team final, the US dropped 6 points from its first place qualifying score and China moved up 6 points from its 6th place qualifying score. So China had a bad day in qualifying for all-around and events, but had a great day on the team final day. The US was the opposite. Therefore, China isn't going to be represented as well in the individual stuff.
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Way too early to say what? That he's not ready for Triple A? He's hit like .220 the last two and a half months, striking out once every 2.5 ABs. It's not just a one week sample, but it's been the trend for half a season now. 3 more K's in 4 AB for him tonight. That ratio is more palatable if he is a power hitter, but he's not. I don't want to poop all over him, but there is a glaring hole in his game, and it's hard to have much faith in him at this point. A lot of experts say the jump from AA to AAA is the smallest one in the minors. He goes from a pitchers' park to a hitters' park. This isn't an earth shattering jump for the player.
  14. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) There's definitely a big drop-off after the US and Spain. If you have 2 or 3 decent NBA players, you're a bronze medal threat. Am I imagining things or did the rest of the world take a bit of a step back in the last few years?
  15. I watched a bit of the Olympic basketball today and was appalled at the lack of quality from the rest of the world. Spain might be the only team capable of making the NBA playoffs and honestly I think it would be close. Would any other country be able to get out of the NBA cellar?
  16. Knights lost 7-2 Saladino 0-5, 4 K Mitchell 1-4, 3 K The other five affiliates play tonight.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) Delay on weekdays makes sense. Delay on weekends for something that would be 2 pm cst, does not make sense. That's fine, but when you're not going to show May-Walsh at 5 p.m. and then when you do show them in primetime you show 1/4 of the match that's not cool. They showed Gibbs/Rosenthal live at 3 and you got to see the whole match. How does that make sense? Save the more popular thing for primetime only to show less of it?
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 05:49 PM) On a side note I know Sanchez was the Sox Futures All Star this year, but besides Tank a few years ago, my memory is that the Sox FAS since it's inception have been some pretty laughable "prospects". I seem to remember Borchard going TWICE and Chris Getz going to NYC haha. Possibly even an Edwin Almonte sighting... I remember when Fautino De Los Santos went and that was pretty cool, but yeah usually it's not a big deal name from the Sox. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Justin Greene was placed on the inactive list. Last time that happened it was Pedro Hernandez and was the pre-cursor to the Liriano deal. I noticed that. He completely disappeared off the Barons' roster, but why would Greene have any value? Maybe he's the PTBNL that people were fearful of for some reason.
  19. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) I think a lot of people really love Sanchez here. I've never seen it. At least Tyler has show flashes of power in the past (16 last year -- only 4 this year). Sanchez has hit a whopping 3 HR's in 865 AB's. That power ain't coming. I don't care if he is 20. Unless he starts taking PED's he's just gonna be a singles hitter with a high average in the Minors. No different than Jeremy Reed... Saladino had big power last year in a hitters' park, but his 2010 power numbers are similar to Reed's right after he was drafted and his 2012 is below what Reed showed in Birmingham power wise. Sanchez is getting some buzz nationally because he's 20 and in AA, but Saladino's power has gone away this year and for some reason so has the average. Neither are elite prospects. I'd be surprised if either one turns in an above average everyday player anyway.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) Just to add more info, 3 countries got hit by the rule because they had 3 girls in the top 24. #4 from USA #12 from Russia #21 from Great Britain They were replace by #25 from France (none in top 24) #26 from Poland (none in top 24) #27 from Japan (one in top 24, #8) China had 3 in the top 24 as well. Their third girl was 22nd.
  21. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Right, but Tony Parker isn't any better than the best NBA guards from the 90s and Jordan/Pippen shut all them down. My point is that defense is where the '92 team owns the '12 team. I agree, but I was just making the easy counter point there. The level of competition is what makes it tougher to judge.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Far better than Drazen Petrovic? Not a chance. Parker was 2nd team All NBA this season. Not a chance is a ridiculously false statement, but thanks for being over dramatic.
  23. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) Saw Tony Parker blow right by US defenders a couple times today. That doesn't happen if the '92 team has Pippen or Jordan guarding him. Tony Parker is also far better than anyone the 92 team faced.
  24. Escobar is such a Twins' type player.
