  1. Great to see Northwestern finally win one. Fitzgerald's reaction afterwards was fantastic. SEC hasn't been impressive with Mississippi State losing a 50/50 game and LSU losing last night. However, still picked up a pair of wins over top 20 teams today. Big Ten probably goes 2-5 this bowl season, which is probably about what was expected. Heck, Northwestern was the only favorite.
  2. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 30, 2012 -> 12:59 AM) Good one. Ha. You're awful. I'm so glad my team beat yours so I can be an ass and on some level know that bothers you.
  3. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 29, 2012 -> 02:37 AM) I thought he was just referring to the fact that the score was 88-88 after regulation, or even 97-94 after 1 OT. That's a lot of points, for both teams. I think it's quite clear that's what he meant. My response remains the same.
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 28, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Defense, anyone? Be quiet.

    2012 TV Thread

Interesting Doctor Who episode tonight. I'm intrigued as always. Anyone else watch?
  6. Griffey made just about every big shot Illinois had last night. I think it's pretty clear D.J. Richardson was the goat. He had some of the worst shot selection you'll see.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 05:51 PM) Gutless bulls*** by the refs, McClaurin does nothing and gets t'd up along with Bowers. Just awful. In fairness before the TV timeout that preceded those free throws Bowers made a fast break layup and McLaurin put his weight into him in a sort of shove as Bowers ran back to the other side of the floor. Whatever those two had been getting into developed before that play, that was just the end of it. Neither team brought their A game. Pressey was effective even though he couldn't make a shot and Paul wasn't lights out, but got to the line a bunch. Both players showed that even on off nights they bring a lot of value.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 01:11 AM) My gripe with the ending is that it was pretty much s***, it was almost a carbon copy of ME3. It was supposed to be the wrap up game, but it's the most ambiguous yet. That's your own fault for thinking that. Ubisoft makes way too much money on those games to 'end' them.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 20, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Also, Assassins Creed II is the best game in the series. Best characters, protagonist, settings, pacing, travel, etc. and you weren't as overpowered. You had to think about how you would Assassinate people (shooting a man on a boat in Venice, but having it match up with a firework explosion was genius). Brotherhood and Revelations were pretty good, but got a bit boring with only one major city in each. My biggest gripe is III missed out on a lot of epic moments, like, I don't know, everything in the commercials. The hope that the story would be good made me overlook it, but f*** that ending. All that being said, the Naval battles were fantastic. II was the best. There's generally not much argument about that. However, I would say the only reason Brotherhood and Revelations didn't quite match up is because they didn't have the origin story. Origin stories are hard to top, especially with the quality one ACII had. ACB was basically the same game as II, but with one city instead of many. To be honest, I quite liked not having to travel from city to city to do stuff. The loading screens in II wore on me. But yeah, the epic moments were severely lacking in III. The size/scale, graphics, depth and NPCs are III are incredible, top tier as far as games are concerned. It's a 50-hour game if you want to do everything (I know because other than full synching a ridiculously hard privateer mission I've got 100% synch). The Ezio trilogy comes in at about 25-30 hours each. The Boston Tea Party mission was amazing and some of the Kidd missions were really fun, but the main story missions were almost bothersome. There weren't enough missions where you had to sneak around and figure out how it was possible to stay undetected. There weren't as many of the awesome tomb missions of previous games. I'd rate ACR as the worst of the Ezio trilogy, but that game still have lots of fast-paced missions and memorable moments. ACIII was a disappointment only because it had super high expectations, but for the first time in an AC game the main story missions were less fun than the secondary stuff. Part of that is because the secondary stuff in this game is f***ing incredible. Although, I must say I don't agree with your gripe with the end of the game. It's already sold 7 million copies so you know they're going to make more games. I'd like to see them go to a two-year development cycle from now on. They said they would, but recent rumors have come out saying they might make another game. You don't want over saturation and after III's relative disappointment they should take some time to think about that.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Honestly, no one in the B1G has proven much outside of Illinois and slighty Minny. Indy was overrated at one and also beat the country's two most overrated teams. OSU and Mich, not much there. But all five are top ten in the country. That obviously happens at this time of year. Illinois is currently 10, but there's no logic for saying Indiana should be ranked higher based on actual performances. Indiana could/should drop out of the top 10, not that rankings mean anything.
  11. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Um well, they gave the best team in country last year their best game in the tourney and returned everyone plus a top 10 class. This was Jurkin and Perea's first game back and Elston returns next week. You don't think their top ten, or deserving of it thats fine, but that's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. No one is head and shoulders better than anyone this year, but If you don't think Indiana is on that first "tier" with the best chance to cut 'em down in April, you're bats*** crazy. This team has a little ways to go, but they have a helluva lot of weapons. All I said was the on court performances haven't been all that good. I think that's pretty clear when you can't beat Butler.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Both big men out for Butler and Zeller is nowhere to be found. 6 boards? Rebounding aside, it's on the guards/Crean to make sure he gets the ball more in OT. He has to take over and didn't. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Is IU going to go from overrated to underrated after 1 game? Calm down people. The problem is Indiana looks similar to last year's team and hasn't proven a lot on the court yet. The North Carolina win was impressive, but we don't know how good UNC is. Georgetown is a strong team, but that wasn't a top 5 performance by IU in that win. Today against a very solid, but unranked Butler team isn't a good loss either. What has IU done to show they're worthy of a top 10 ranking? I'm not seeing it on the floor.
  13. This is so laughably Indiana it's not even funny. This team is sickening. They're really not that good, it's plainly obvious. Then just throw s*** up and comeback.
  14. Indiana is the same team as last year. Entirely average away from home.
  15. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 14, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Probably wasn't going to happen anyways, but now I'd set the over/under for conference win total at 2.5. Yeah this NU team wasn't going to be any good. Now they're going to be absolutely putrid. My gut reaction is to take the under on that line.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Hooray catholic league. I would be fully in support of calling it this.
  17. Good for Juan. It's probably the kind of move only Celtic can make. They can give him minutes during SPL matches and hope he develops enough so they can use him as a sub in the Champs. League. My expectations are minimal for him until he matures mentally.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2012 -> 08:54 AM) Ya, that's the best win of the season for anyone so far imo. Impressive, impressive win, congrats Illini fans. Your bias towards inferior teams (ie mid-majors) is amusing. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Doesnt matter at this point anyway. The polls don't matter at any point. That's the beauty of college basketball.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 8, 2012 -> 11:22 PM) Best win of anyone this season? Really? Duke has a neutral win over Louisville. Gonzaga is good and their home floor is fine, but let's not go overboard.
  20. I'd say it's time to get a 120 GB slim. They run better. If you're worried about saves transferring over, get PS Plus in the future. Cloud storage. It's $50 per year and you get enough free games to make it a value.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 01:43 AM) Let me know how Liberation is when you can. I finally put a few hours into the game. The movement is ACIII. The dual analogs allow for it to be exactly the same. The tree-related free running is there. The game mechanics are a weird mix of the Ezio trilogy and ACIII. They have a number of different shops like blacksmiths and tailors like the older games had, but then they also have the ACIII combat with O for counter. Running around New Orleans is fun, it's like any other AC game. It has its own style to it with the architecture and might even be better than New York and Boston in that regard. The missions are shorter and some of the optional objectives are annoying, but for the most part they're a simpler version of AC. There's still a decent amount of depth. I've had more fun with Sound Shapes on my Vita (oh my god, Sound Shapes is awesome), but Liberation is worth playing if you like the AC games. As a stand alone it's barely above average, but it's impressive the detail and graphics you get from a handheld game.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) Pellini is throwing his hat in the ring at Tenn. Good luck with that Vols. Is that a preemptive move so he doesn't get fired? Funny that Tennessee is a place that was bitter that a coach left them. Nebraska would fit in the same mold.
  23. So '04? That's pretty much my point. It's been a while.
  24. Not your traditional Rule V pick, but the Sox wouldn't have taken a traditional Rule V guy anyway. This guy has a better chance of sticking on the roster than most and considering he was only selected to be a utility guy he's easier to keep on the roster. This seems more like a minor league free agent signing than a Rule V pick. Hard to dislike it, gives more options. When was the last time the Sox took a Rule V in the Major League phase? I remember going into the last few years knowing that there was no chance the Sox were going to take anyone. This is certainly a change of pace.
  25. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 08:52 AM) Tennessee has not been on the map in recent history, but they are pretty much the #2 all-time program in the SEC behind Alabama. Tennessee-Alabama was always the biggest game of the year in the SEC. Only in the last 20-30 years have Florida and LSU built their programs up to that level. That's why it was such a blow to Tennessee when Lane Kiffin left to go to USC because historically, Tennesse was among the handful of programs that you didn't leave for another college job. That doesn't mean a thing to a 17-18 year old kid. They're too young to connect Peyton Manning or the 98 title. All they know is a pretty mediocre program that probably rates in the bottom half of the league in their memory. That's the beauty of the modern era of college football. Everyone gets exposure so you don't need a big name program or some history to get on TV. What you do on the field matters most. What you did 20-30 years ago doesn't mean a whole lot.
