QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Apr 12, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) At least he doesn't focus on the negative. This one is more positive:

Cleveland Indians vs Chicago White Sox
Ozzie Ball replied to Bigsoxhurt35's topic in 2014 Season in Review
For Salazar's start today he had a 12.27 ERA and 0.48 xFIP. That's awesome. -
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 05:24 AM) I can't believe how many names I hadn't heard of. At least 3 or 4 on that list. Didn't realize I was quite so out of the loop. Thanks Jeff. Again, excellent stuff. Thanks, and yeah there were a bunch of lower minors guys that seemingly came out nowhere last year. A few of them may be marginal prospects, but they're all at least semi interesting.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2014 -> 01:36 AM) Michael Pineda's hand: Pine tar or no pine tar it's great to see Pineda back and pitching well. He looked like one of the best young pitchers in the game before his injury.

Interesting article from Ben Badler on the international signing period. Talks about teams now scouting players at younger and younger ages, and signing players (in principle) well before July 2. http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...r-14-year-olds/

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 09:35 PM) Yes, excellent as always. One nitpick would be no mention of Winiarski, who I think the org likes, and may make it to the South Side before several of the mentioned. He's well ahead of Molina in the hierarchy at this point, imo. Thanks, and yeah you're right on Winiarksi. Someone brought him up in the comments too. I should have included him but just overlooked him. Also, I went back to the middle infielders and added Rondon, decided his glove alone makes him notable enough.

And Starting Pitching Will possibly do some kind of recap/system overview type post to round out the series, but otherwise this will be the last... until next year.

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 10, 2014 -> 02:41 AM) Common cautions apply, its early, etc, but Myles Jaye may end up the best pitching prospect out of B'ham this season. Definitely possible. I think they (Snogress/Jaye/Bassitt/Beck) all have similar back of rotation/long relief type profiles.

Congratulations to Avisail Garcia on the first 2 walk game of his MLB career! Hope he's not out long.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) Boy, that Hickory team looks loaded! And they're not even the leagues worst. Lexington hitting .185/.255/.280 through six games. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?y...tba&lid=116

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 8, 2014 -> 05:05 AM) Bryce Harper is another comp that is being thrown around a lot for Jackson. Please link to anywhere where someone of note has made this comparison.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 07:17 PM) Nice numbers for our 2nd round pick, Casey Gillaspie. http://www.goshockers.com/fls/7500/stats/b...?DB_OEM_ID=7500 Love the stats, excellent walk and contact rates. BA says his bat speed very good. Frankie Piliere says plus power from both sides of the plate. Has to be a good hitter at 1B though.
-
BA's Josh Norris on Hawkins and Anderson. Says Anderson showed "plus tools in every category".

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 7, 2014 -> 05:47 AM) So a single really. Haha. That was my first thought when I watched the video also.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) I hope Petricka can stick around the big club. Starting to like him a bit. Some nice arms going in the minors. Montas (May?), Lopez(June?), Bassitt (soon, McCully might be heading back to pen after 1 start) and Cose (?) all hurting, but not for too long, hopefully. I think Petricka needs more development time. Control nowhere near good enough yet in my opinion.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 5, 2014 -> 12:19 PM) Yeah, one of the things that caught my eye from the games yesterday was Olacio striking out 6 batters in 2 IP. If the Sox plan on keeping him in the bullpen going forward, then he must have gained some serious velocity coming out of relief and they must expect him to move fast. Given his age, they did not have to give up on him being a starter just yet. And as we see with a lot of top relief prospects, keeping him in a starter's role at least gives him a chance to develop his secondary stuff. The Sox must feel Olacio can be a dynamic left-handed reliever at the major league level and pretty soon to make this change so early into his career IMO. Nathan Stoltz tweets from the game on Olacio, in reverse chronological order, so read from the bottom. Certainly encouraging stuff.

PITCHf/x at brooksbaseball.net had his average fastball velo at 89.72 today vs. 92.78 last September. Just one start but worrying nonetheless.
