I want to see some encouraging numbers from Griffith tonight.
6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 SO, 7 GO/7 FO
Semi-encouraging, I guess.
Charlotte Knights @ Gwinnett Braves
Matt Zaleski starting (where's Hudson?)
Birmingham Barons vs. Carolina Mudcats
Anthony Carter starting
Winston-Salem Dash @ Kinston Indians
Nevin Griffith starting
Kannapolis Intimidators vs. Rome Braves
Matt Wickswat vs. Arodys Vizcaino should be a good matchup.
Shirek had a great start 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO, 11 GO/3 FO.
Leesman not so much 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, SO.
Same for Marquez 5 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 0 BB, SO.

What the... Hunt WAS OK, now he blew up too.
Yeah I was about to say. 2 H, 2 BB, 2 SO, 2 ER in his inning.
Nate Jones pitched pretty well- 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 5 SO, 3 GO/1 FO.
2 K's and 2 BB's for Santos Rodriguez in his inning.
Nunez did OK with 4 SO/1 BB. With stuff like his he won't give up 8 hits in 4 innings too often.

So this is interesting... Nate Jones is listed as the starter for W-S in tonight's game. Converting to starter?
Someone's not been doing their reading

It may just be to stretch out his arm and try to speed up the development process, or maybe they see him as a starter long term.
Winston-Salem Dash @ Kinston Indians 7:00 ET
Justin Edwards starts for the Dash
Charlotte Knights @ Gwinnett Braves 7:05 ET
Kannapolis Intimidators vs. Rome Braves 7:05 ET
Joe Serafin starting
Birmingham Barons vs. Carolina Mudcats 8:05 ET
Also live-blogging the games at FutureSox.com so move yourselves over there and get some discussion going http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/future-sox...pening-day.html
My insider subscription expired a few day ago but I'm guessing the "one more important number to check. " is his xFIP, which for Jenks last year was 3.63. xFIP is believed to be a better predictor of future success than FIP, so nothing to worry about here.

In 5-10 years, ESPN will be comparing WAR values of players for actually how good they are.
By which point it will be an extremely outdated metric.

Also fairly sure this is Winston-Salem's opening day roster. It looks right. Dash roster
That is it. It's been confirmed now http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...sp&sid=t580

Yep, it looks like him and Jameson Tallion are the fairly obvious first two picks of the draft, at this point.
Taillon has some pretty insane stuff. The whole high school pitching class is very deep.
One of the Royals' top prospects Danny Duffy has quit baseball.

That's a blow for their system, he was one of their best pitching prospects. Baseball America had him as the Royals' number 8 prospect, although I thought that was a little low.
