Flowers finished 4-5, HR, SO. Average up to .323. Danks 2-5, 2B, SO. Viciedo 2-5, 2 SO. Against a decent prospect in Rondon too, although he is having an awful year.

Flowers 3-4 with his 4th home run on the year. Now OPSing 1.031.

I really like Rios batting 3rd. Hopefully Ozzie will leave him there for a while. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 05:28 AM) I dunno bout that. Obviously pitching at Safeco will help those 2, but they're borderline major league starters as it is (and Snell's just been moved to the pen for Lee's return), at least Washburn's had a track record of success. Obviously he needs to be in the right situation for him to succeed though. I'd call Washburn a borderline guy. Career 4.86 xFIP. He had that great half a season last year with the Mariners, but even then the peripherals didn't support the production, and predictably he fell apart with Detroit. I'd run younger starters with at least some kind of potential out there over Washburn.

Finally a good start for Sauer 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 7 SO, 12 GO/2 FO.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 05:29 AM) What the hell? Did dan just reference a Saber stat? I think Ozzieball is having quite the influence on you. Hah. Their ISO's are actually identical though, just checked. I take back my statement of Escobar showing superior power this year.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 05:14 AM) Superior power?? Please. Escobar has 2 more doubles on the season in the exact same number of at-bats (81). Superior patience?? Escobar has a grand total of 2 more walks... and he's struck out 4 more times than Gilmore. Weren't we comparing their numbers for the year? 2 more walks is 25% more walks. 2 more doubles is 33.33% more doubles.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 05:07 AM) Ok... but after tonight, both have 81 at-bats and... Gilmore is batting .395 with a .427 OBP and .896 OPS. Escobar is batting .259 with a .319 OBP and .652 OPS. Escobar's superior power/patience > Gilmore's inflated average.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) Truth be told, I've never been impressed by his stuff. I have doubts about how he'll retire lefty hitters in the majors. With that said, we have no one else being close to ready, so you can't trade him. It's funny, I have the same doubts about Tyler Flowers. I'm more concerned about his ability to retire righty's. The movement he gets on his FB/CH is ridiculous and should/has made him very effective vs. LHB, but he lacks a put away breaking ball to retire the righty's. That's my take on him anyway.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) The Nunez starting experiment doesn't appear to be going very well, so far. Speaking of high K numbers, Ciolli with 25 K's and just 1 BB in 66 AB (67 PA) for a 37.3% K rate and a .008 IsoOBP. Not so good. Ciolli has been a big disappointment thus far. And by the way, IsoOBP is usually just written as IsoD (D for discipline), and K% is typically SO/AB not PA.
-
Thompson 1-1, 2B, BB in his first 2 PA's.

Tigers 1st rounder from last year Jacob Turner just placed on the DL with forearm stiffness (can anyone say Tommy John?). Their other top prospect, and one of my favourite prospect in baseball, Casey Crosby, hasn't pitched yet this year after suffering some elbow discomfort. Ouch.
-
Gonzalez finished 2-3, 2 HR, BB. Thompson 2-3, 2B
-
First homer on the year for Miguel Gonzalez and Terry Doyle with 4 no hit innings so far for the Intimidators.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) I haven't seen Morel play, but what I have seen, you'll never have to worry about his defense. The guy is stellar over there. Wait, so you have seen him or you haven't?
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) Wow he keeps up his progression and he'll probably be a first-round pick in 2012 draft. Why didn't we sign him? Too much money? He wanted college all the way? Probably some of both. Brian Goodwin is playing well at UNC also, was hitting something like .310/.410/.520 last time I looked.

Griffith is 3-0 now in his 3 starts with a 0.90 ERA and 13 SO/ 3 BB in 20 IP.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 03:08 AM) Thompson is being extra awesome right now. If he keeps this up, chances he makes AA? This year? I would hope 0%. Rushing him like that would be idiotic.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) What did they use to be called? Something like the Spirits? It's on the tip of my tongue... Warthogs.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Naw, a ton of people I remember loved Charlotte and rightfully so. I just thought W-S had more talent all around, but I liked Charlotte a ton too. Thats why I called Charlotte Ozzie Ball's team since he loves them. (yes the poster, not Ozzie haha) Yeah I didn't think that Dash offense would be good enough for them to be an elite Carolina League team this year but they've really surprised me. Charlotte's pitching hasn't been as good as I was expecting either. Still early going though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) Shirek has been pitching very well. 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K's. Gave up his first earned run of the season, 0.47 ERA and .169 BAA. Sanchez? Maybe he's this year's Maurice Gartrell? Psuedo-prospect who never really gets a shot with the White Sox...2/3, RBI, .393 BA. Turns 25 at the end of the season....didn't Ozzie say something positive about him before? I think he had a homer in one of the ST games I followed, but maybe I was imagining things! Plus a damn good 14 GO/2 FO.
-
Yeah it is Zaleski for Charlotte.
