White Sox @ Dodgers, 2:10 CSN
I'll take Danks every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He's got a bulldog mentality, dropped Scott Boras, and reminds me of the good Buehrle, minus the efficiency. Plus he's a southpaw.

Mother Nature vs. State of Iowa
JESUS f***ING CHRIST A huge tornado funnel cloud touches down in Orchard, Iowa, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 9:04 p.m. The Globe Gazette and Mitchell County Press News reported that Lori Mehmen of Orchard, took the photo from outside her front door. Mehmen said the funnel cloud came near the ground and then went back up into the clouds. Besides tree and crop damage, no human injuries were reported. (AP Photo/Lori Mehmen) Here's more:

You honestly think Carter will be Top 50? Is he in AA yet?

Mother Nature vs. State of Iowa
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 09:54 PM) so rarely do i say this but: i agree with you. Me too, actually. After everything happens, it's nothing more than time to get back to work. KCRG was interviewing one guy from CR who said that he tried to cross the police tape to get back to his flooded house to get a pair of boots that he needed for work that night.

Mother Nature vs. State of Iowa
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) That tornado, along with Parkersburg, along with the flooding - damn Iowa needs to be left alone for a while by mother nature. It started last fall. It was one of the snowiest winters in recent memory. The last week has been really weird, cause its been unseasonably nice. Storms are supposed to roll in tonight, though.

6/23 Games
Clayton Richard has completely rocketed up the pitching prospect list for the Sox. Damn you, Egbert.

You're Terry Francona
I honestly think John Danks is our most deserving player at the moment. It's not his fault the offense betrays him.

Mother Nature vs. State of Iowa
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) And yet they didn't slam the residents who were living BELOW SEA LEVEL for say, actually living below sea level after Katrina, now did they. I understand why the candidates are not there. But, when do the Hollywood telethons start for Iowa relief? Where is Sean penn and his little boat? When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines? Where are all the 24/7 lurid news tales of cannibalism and unnecessary drownings? Why are the Iowans not complaining more and demanding to be saved? Where are all the pics of looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets? When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a “vanilla” Iowa, because that’s the way God wants it? Just askin'. Culver is more of a Neapolitan man. The only thing I've seen on a nationwide scale were former Parkersburg football players doing stuff with the NFL, such as AP-NFL hats.

Brian Anderson
QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Ramirez is a dead pull hitter as well, that's not stopping him from hovering around .300. Plus the dude has never his ML pitching before this year. Different players between the ears.

QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) then you can't compare the two cause you expect different production from each of them There's nothing stopping me from comparing the two. I've never advocated starting Brian over Swish, and, ask anyone, I carry Brian's jock more than anyone. BA should be starting now that PK is hurt, and always in CF (not sure why he wouldn't), but he's a solid 4th OF option. His biggest problem right now is that he's DEAD pull. He's getting by on hits between SS and 3B. He's eliminated a bit of the hole in his swing, but I'd like to see him spray the ball more. Of course, he's pressing, because he knows his ABs are limited, and he still fully thinks he's capable of starting.

QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) Get back to me if and when Anderson ever hits 35 HRs or drives in 95 runs in a season.....hell get back to me when he drives in 40 We don't need him to do either of the first two. If he hit .255-.260, hit 17 home runs, drove in 60 and played his usual defense over a full season, would anyone have a problem with him? He could likely do that with a starting role.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) At least he hit it off the wall. He's shown some ability. I can't help it, despite the numbers the stat people on here throw out, from what I've seen I can't hop aboard the Swish bandwagon yet. Dare I compare him to my favorite Rowand? I better not start that up. Go BA! Keep improving! Swish is better than he's started this year. People need to let Row go. Embrace Brian as the younger, sexier, lower batting average but better fielding Rowand. To that end, I still think Swish is a better option than BA or Sweeney in CF, and BA should remain the 4th OF.

Brian Anderson
QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) What if that? What if this? It didn't happen. And you can't compare him to Swisher, because Swisher has done something in this league I mean, you COULD probably compare them to the extent where BA has the same average and a higher slugging percentage than Nick, along with being a superior fielder.

QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) Hey, we got some suckers to take Freddy Garcia off our hands, now didn't we? And the word value was never used. I just said something. A bag of balls, a rosin bag, whatever. We have nothing to gain by trading Anderson.

Brian Anderson
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) Yeah I'm just gonna go ahead and disagree with everything in this entire post except "sure he's great in the field." Because that part is true. I think I do understand the hatred for Anderson though. As of today, 6/23 (2x3=6)/2008 (8-0-0-2 = 6), so essentially on 6/6/6, Brian Anderson's OPS is .666. I can see the force and power of Satan re-incarnated flowing through the veins of Brian Anderson each day he steps onto the field and it's evil; quite honestly, I'm a bit scared. There were thoughts he was a communist...no, he's no communist. He's just Lucifer. Have I told you I loved you lately?

6/22 Games -> Gartrell With 7 RBI
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) Gartrell is one of those guys I really liked when we drafted him. He has good tools across the board and had a solid professional debut. However, as a collegiate player his age quickly becomes a concern as you can rarely afford to have back to back years in the same league and Gartrell is going to have to have a strong 2nd half to earn a promote to AAA next year (he's capable of it). I wouldn't necessarily call him a non-prospect, just because he has some tools, but I'm not about to pencil him into the Sox lineup either. He's a guy that right now is probably nothing, but if it just took him a couple months to get used to AA and make adjustments, he could put himself on that prospect radar. He's the rare guy both you and I like.
