Ideally, Matt is your eighth inning guy. He's very much part of a very good bullpen. As a closer, that's debatable, but he's a guy that's part of a playoff bullpen.

Nate's control improved throughout his time with the Sox. You're not going to find many teams that can deal with the loss of their two most important relievers in our position. Petricka, Putnam and Belisario were never supposed to pitch in the 8th and 9th. They were to be our setup and middle relievers.

I understand what he is saying. I agree and disagree with it. And I'm disappointed he feels that way. It is a distraction. And with Sam it's a bigger distraction than it's been in the past. But it is in no way THAT big of a distraction, especially compared to things he's helped out with in the past, especially Vick.

So I should probably catch a game in Des Moines?

Running baseball is totally different than running a country. I could see him being a really good choice.

It's funny how we had discussions, dozens of times over the years, about an "ace" and whether Buehrle was one, etc., all that jazz. It's really nice to have a legitimate ace and a legitimate #2.
