  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) So you dismiss the impact that 4 prospects could make by dealing them separately? I'm not someone who usually demands "character" guys, but this guy just rubs me the wrong way. I don't doubt that our clubhouse is a different environment and that we have no idea how he'd fit in here.
  2. I think some people are confused thinking we want to move Matt. I don't want to. But Sale and Crain have made it so that it's a move that we can make this year without being hurt tremendously while still helping us moving forward. I love Matt, but, again, he's going to turn 35 and is a one pitch pitcher. Edwin Jackson is not coming back next year.
  3. For NS: ISU student tickets have already sold out. I guess the hype machine is working. ISU tickets are gonna be a tough get.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) I obviously want to win this year. But it's becoming more and more apparent to me that whoever wins this joke of a division will be nothing more than first round fodder for the Red Sox. If you can make a move that makes you better in '12, '13 and '14, even at the risk of coming up short this year, you do it. Meh. Anything could happen in the playoffs. We still did sweep that Boston team at Fenway.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Indeed, tons of confidence in those guys right now. Yup, you just have the feeling that Crain or Sale could come in with no outs and bases loaded and there's a chance they can get out of it. Both of them have the exact makeup you need in that role. Still very curious to see Sale start, but that's a worry for next year.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) I'd be THRILLED at adding a premium, young, cost-controlled talent like Rasmus at the cost of a pitching enigma that we're going to lose after this season anyway and a 35-year old reliever who will no longer be the bargain he's been starting next year. This team needs young talent that it can control multiple years like I need this six-pack of MGD I'm about to destroy. I agree with J4L for once. Edwin is not coming back (you can thank Humber for making that decision easy) and I think as much as all of us love Matt in the bullpen, the whole cost vs return thing swings in the wrong direction in a hurry.
  7. We really do have three just outstanding setup men right now. Although, ESPN says we need another.
  8. Smart move leaving Sale in.
  9. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I don't see how trading for two cheap, young major league players is a sign of us bowing out of the division race. It'd depend on the return for Quentin, but if it would be for Beachy, then we really haven't changed the makeup of the team for the division race.
  10. Rasmus sure did look good taking that IBB.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) TCQ gone. Then that would really be White Flag part II, because I don't see us making it without him.
  12. IF we do deal for Rasmus, what's the next domino? Or do we just bench Rios? As bad as we've been this year, we're only 3.5 back if we hold on and Detroit loses.
  13. So......as much as I wasn't sure about Crain's deal, I have a healthy man crush on him right now.
  14. I like colby cheese. I like Colby Rasmus. I would pay money to see Colby Rasmus eat some colby cheese. In a Sox uniform.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:23 AM) You won't know what negatives it has (if any) until after it fully kicks in, which isn't for a while. And it's not Obamacare. I do enjoy hearing about how it's hurting America so much.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) I know a lot of Big 12 fans don't want to hear it, but the conference is not going to last. I'd be STUNNED if it lasts longer than 5 more years. The Longhorn Network is just too big an advantage for one school. In addition to the reasons we already knew it was, now the network is saying it'll air games of top guys Texas is recruiting. That doesn't even sound legal to me, but he wouldn't say it if it wasn't true. Talk about a recruiting edge for a school that doesn't need one. All the schools knew it was coming, they shouldn't act surprised. Also, they are no longer going to be able to do that, and the latest discussion is that the Longhorn Network may not happen, and instead all schools will share one network. The situation is fluid, and no offense 101, those making these predictions have ZERO CLUE about the dynamics involved.
  17. Apparently not.
  18. Honest question, but are there any examples of how "Obamacare" has screwed someone over?
  19. Yay 2-0. ALEX RIOS WITH A HIT Even if it wasn't much.
  20. I don't doubt they do want him back. Our performance the rest of this month might have a lot to do with it.
  21. This Texas A&M to the SEC s*** is getting old, and fast.
