  1. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 12:59 AM) Mountain West doesn't want Iowa St. because they have no baseball program. Boise St. doesn't have a baseball program either, but they are in a different situation as they might be able to make the MWC an auto-qualifier. Baseball has absolutely 0 to do with it. None.
  2. Jake with an F that inning, looked pretty decent.
  3. Jake sitting 93ish, up to 95.
  4. He's my neglected AAP. I liked his numbers and commentary I read about him coming out of Monmouth.
  5. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) OMG!! Don't post it on here ..LMAO ..I'll NEVER get anything done if I'm able to take Soxtalk with me!!! What the s***?! This can't be happening ....OKAYYY ..you convinced me ..if you find something, go ahead and post it i suppose!!! Ha, I'm much too lazy to figure out something too quickly.
  6. QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) they should look into getting us on tapatalk. never. I'll look into what our options are for mobile Soxtalkin.
  7. Iowa State is oh so f***ed and our leadership knows it. http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?&...DB_OEM_ID=10700
  8. If we were any good, we'd be giddy with Putz' year so far. It'd be neat if we could re-sign him on the cheap.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) I wish I could quit you White Sox This is me. I'd love to not care.
  10. I don't use the word pretty a lot, but its the only word for his swing. It was pretty, and it was perfect.
  11. Heads22 replied to witesoxfan's topic in SLaM
    pretty tipsy
  12. not sure Blackwood will amount to anything, but certainly pulling for him and LOVE the enthusiasm.
  13. Kansas is but Kansas State is not, and the two are also tied at the hip through the state legislature. AAU Schools include: Nebraska Mizzou Iowa State Syracuse Pitt Rutgers
  14. The Pac 10 could give two s***s about anyone outside of Texas. They don't add anyone aside from maybe Colorado unless they get Texas.
  15. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) It's all about the TV viewership. Bringing the Texas markets, Oklahoma City, and Denver markets brings 20M+ extra potential viewers. It would likely be an East/West set. East: Texas Texas A&M Texas Tech Oklahoma Oklahoma State Colorado Arizona Arizona State West: Oregon Oregon State Washington Washington State California USC UCLA Stanford And ISU, Kansas and Kansas State are royally f***ed. Baylor too, but who knows where they'd end up.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) The goal of many on soxtalk is to trade anybody who has proven they can play the game of baseball while they are still productive so "we can get somebody for them" before they fall off. And to get rid of salary because "we need the money." Never mind the franchise is worth about 900 quadrillion dollars on the open market. I think the goal of many is to lose every game just keep trading anybody who can play the game and makes money, anybody not named Rios or Peavy. We like to pay them the money. They are deserving of it and the rest are not. The Sox actually had the right idea in the offseason to retool, not rebuild. Unfortunately all of KW's moves sucked, yes, Ozzie wanted some/many of the moves made as well. KW f***ed up with a majority of his moves dating to the Peavy trade. Peavy has been horses***, not that he can't turn it around and all the other acquisitions sucked. Hopefully KW's next set of moves the second half of this season will be productive. The guys that most posters advocate trading are on the downswings of their career or have developed major question marks.
  17. Think we get to see a position player pitch in this one?
  18. PETCO obviously factored into Jake's numbers as well. But fathom, you know enough about baseball and have watched Jake enough too, you honestly wouldn't have thought that he'd be this bad this year, especially after his few starts last fall. Sometimes good players just have bad years.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) He showed he's willing to do it with the Swisher debacle. True, but there are a number of other things surrounding Nick Swisher that haven't been around Jake.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) But if someone is basically willing to take on his contract, I think you bail and use that money in different ways. And I'm sorry, Richard is a decent starting pitcher. In the NL, in PETCO. And if the deal is Peavy for Clayton Richard, I'll still take the Cy Young winner. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Nobody jumped at him last year when he was a Padre. Why would they change a year later, especially with his struggles? Well, to be fair, last year he was hurt and the Cubs have tried numerous times to get him, for one.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Even if you're a believer in Peavy, you should jump at the chance to trade him if someone is willing to take him. Even though I don't think we gave up anything worth a s*** for him, I don't think the value we'd get back would be very good. I think you'd have better luck either playing out the string with him this year and dealing him in the offseason if you're determined to move him or let him pitch into 2011. I still think he's going to improve his numbers, right now would be the ultimate sell-low on him.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) At this point, anybody on the roster not named Jake Peavy (I'm still a believer), Gordon Beckham, Alex Rios, Matt Thornton and Sergio Santos is fair game, IMO. And I don't think Buehrle is moving. His post-trade contract status would be prohibitive, and I still think the fan base would be most upset with moving him.
  23. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Who really wants him though? He's not overly expensive, has a ring, is a lefty bat, will catch every day and the thought is he could easily return to his norms. A number of teams may be looking at him as a buy low veteran.
  24. Since this season is spiraling even further into suck, who do you guys want to see get a shot? I'm a little partial to Stefan Gartrell myself as a possible 4th OF with a little bit of pop.
  25. Brent Lillibridge at least has some semblance of talent. Andy Gonzalez blew donkey balls.
