That’s something NOBODY saw coming! WOW!! It would be freaking UNREAL if Bonemer could prove adequate in center. If they surround him with fast, athletic guys in the corner and he shows out as having some range… that would be flipping amazing. 2B - Chase / Sam / Roch 1B / DH - Mune / Vargas / Bonemer 3B - Vargas / Bonemer / Colson / Roch SS - Colson / Roch DH - Beni / Bonemer / Colson RF - B Montgomery / Peters / Doyle CF - Bonemer / Peters / Doyle LF - Peters / Sam / Doyle C - Teel / Quero / Rogers / Bart While it wouldn’t be a traditional lineup by any means, it could be a managers dream when playing matchups. It also has tons of padding for players who don’t develop / players who are able to be traded for rotation help / etc. I like how creative and flexible the development staff is showing itself to be. Borderline innovative.

Doyle hasn’t ruled and it’s no surprise but at least Peters has been returning to form. Still think the Sox believe that they can get Doyle back to lifting and pulling. However, it is an extremely interesting development that today they announced that for the rest of the season and into the AFL, Bonemer will be getting looks in centerfield. Talk about something nobody saw coming!

Two things: 1.) People are livid and even followed his production at Pittsburgh. “Gonzo hit a homer against the Guardians. Sure could have used that.” Blah blah blah. Yet then when he began to fall off, get pushed down the lineup, and was removed from the everyday lineup - it was crickets. 2.) I put Thome’s name in quotes when referencing “the return” because that was wha People incorrectly equated the trade as representing. While partially true, it’s incomplete. Without that additional bonus space we wouldn’t have gotten three arguable first rounders. If you really think people weren’t upset - refresh your memory.

It’s a totally different era across the entire sport. Top line metrics like batting and earned run averages have proportionately moved across the league. Seems like every year the CY candidates hover near 2 for an ERA and there are only a couple of hitters over .300 Back in the 90s I’d venture a guess that those measurements were more like a 3 ERA and .335 for hitters. Just remember back when seeing a starting pitcher hit 96 mph regularly meant he was a stud. Now, that is basically an expectation while the real impressive heaters are getting up to 102+. Insane.

They’re too busy striking out and hitting the ball in the air… and I don’t mind it one bit. Really hard to b**** about an offense that is first in runs and third in homers, but… Welcome to Soxtalk!
