QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:00 AM) I'm OK with the trade. Here's hoping Tilton is the next Lou Brock. Could be a steal. Could be a bust. I'm OK with finding out. Not a bad trade as I disliked Duke. I'm OK with him. I just feel St. Louis wouldn't trade him for Duke if they hadn't decided he was nothing special. A second round pick? It's obvious they've soured on him. Again, they'd want a lot more than Duke if they felt he could play. They... Have... Outfield... Depth.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Last year I had like 250 posts on deadline day, copy-pasted over 100 insider tweets here, etc... I do plan on doing it again tomorrow. One of my favorite times of the year honestly Make it an annual thing and create a thread for it each year. Something like The Annual Jose Abreu Deadline Stream.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) Let's see Tilson play first. We'll probably have that chance real soon. I wouldn't be surprised if he is ranked ahead of both May and Engel, at least this year. Already is. Rated #5 prospect in our system

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) Day before the deadline and I am seeing Wade Miley and Derek Norris tweets. Sigh Deadline day blow up explosion coming soon

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) Duke is just another body. He's nothing special. The outfielder we got obviously is a bust to this date or St. Louis wouldn't have traded him. This will probably be his final chance to be a starter in the bigs. Uh... The kid just turned 23 and is done pretty damn good at his first AAA stint. He hasn't even debuted in the bigs from what I read - you're making pretty emotionally driven speculative statements here dude.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) But if Hahn walks away from the table with a team that is stumbling after the All Star break, had an embarassing situation w his star player this week, the crosstown rivals are headed to the post-season and all he has to show is a 4th outfielder for his efforts at the deadline, he may be feeling the heat. You kind of leave out that whole part where he'd also walk into the Winter Meetings with baseballs two biggest trade chips, still.

Take o pick.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) I'm fine with Tilson keeping CF warm until Andrew Benintendi is ready to come up and take over the position. (See what I did there? The power of wishful thinking!!)

Trade deadline article citing Tilson as the Cards best potential trade chip who could be moved. Suggest he could have been felt for a rental starting CF or 1B. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/7/28/9...deable-prospect

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) A post from 20 hours from now... Well, sometimes trades come in right under the wire and they don't get announced until now... Waiting... Waiting... Nothing.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) How many of you would pay $250 to see Hahn's text messages in real time over the next 20 hours? Just 250? Ten times over!
-
One thing Hahn has shown in the last 3+ years is a lot of patience. He's set a precedence with other GM's as someone who won't fold or budge much from his demands, I imagine.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) Reasonable looking prospect too. If Gonzalez and Shields are still here Tuesday we riot. 27 year old prospect who got lit up in the MLB and has a 3.38 ERA in the minors
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Agree. As I said yesterday, I am afraid Hahn is still going for it in 2016. Why?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) If the Red Sox lose in Anaheim, they will be tied with the Tigers for the second wildcard. Only ahead by a percentage point. They really really need to f***ing pony up and get a package from us for a SP, OF, and RP Dumb ass mofos

Is there a plausible argument for competing next year?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) How about hitting seven home runs in a game and losing...just sayin' Only two more months of this s*** left to go! Out of all the disappointments this year (and there have been a lot) Rodon has been one of the biggest. This guy now looks like he has no idea what he wants to do out there. Mark Not even a shade of the bulldog we saw at NC -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Doziers homer looks like an infield fly compared to what Thome did http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v11084089/c...mer-in-the-10th That's a crime. He should have been arrested Oh I remember. Very well. Before Thornton threw the pitch I walked up to the TV and turned it off. My dad asked what the hell I was doing - to which I replied, "Thome is hitting a walk off." He says something like, "you don't know that - turn it back on!" I turned it back on and the crowd was going nuts which Thome circled second. I turned the TV back off and said, "see" My dad was looking at me dumbfounded. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) Seeing Morneau up to bat for some reason made me think of the time Thome hit that ball off the moon against Thornton Dozier says hello -
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Definitely appears to be a more well rounded player, but is there enough there that he maxes out an everyday CF? We'll see - Brett Gardner is his ceiling. I'd say that's a good comp - maybe he's a little faster than Brett with less pop. Scouts still think that he will grow into more power. Gotta like the speed, batters eye, contact skills, and defense.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) Sounds like they acquired a possible starting OF/CF if he maximizes his potential, but is more likely a 4th OF. To be honest, I'm underwhelmed, but I'm no expert. Duke is a good middle reliever, and there seems to be a premium right now on quality pitching. How does this return compare to what Seattle got for Montgomery? Vogelbach is a more one dementional player where as this kid we picked up has a good 3 or 4 tools in the plus column. More well rounded. I personally would have rather had Vogelbach thou.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) I feel like the GM, the senior vp of operations and the manager holding a meeting the day before trade deadline would suggest something is up. Naw, they're all just comparing notes on poop reports. Talking about color, consistency, foreign objects visible, etc. Trying to determine if team diet should change or not.
