Why do we open in Cleveland?
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) I am in the same boat 90 miles south of Chicago and no CSN! Do you get the extra innings package from your cable provider then?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 06:21 AM) Can't the Sox just cut him, and then re-sign him if he really wants to stay w/ us? Nope - Littlehomie has to pass through the waiver wire.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 05:49 AM) It would not surprise me if they had the second best record in the league from June 1st to July 31st, as a 36-17 record over a 2 month span is incredibly impressive. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the best record over that stretch of games. They were playing some pretty incredible baseball over that time frame. It must have been their record from June 1st until the rest of the year ( 66 wins and 46 loses / 20 games up ) That sounds like it could have been 2nd best. I know they had the second best winning percentage over the course of a long stretch late in 2010. If not - then blast MLB Network and their 30 clubs in 30 days research department!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) The White Sox did not have the second best winning percentage after the trade deadline last year. I don't know who did, but the White Sox post-trade deadline record was 30-29. It's mathematically impossible for that to be the second best record in the league. Hummmm.... Thanks for pointing that out. My info is odbviously as bad as my spelling I remember reading that during on stretch that the sox where like 45 and 29 ... Something like that... and during that stretch - they had the second best winning percentage. I think the stat came from our feature on 30 clubs in 30 days

The sox had the second best winning percentage in the majors last year after the trade deadline. Even putting aside Dunn's added WAR over last years crap fest... If we ply like that all year - we're greatly improved. If Edwin Jackson pitches like he can and Carlos hits like he can... Look out!!

Why do we open in Cleveland?
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 12:40 AM) Hah! I am still going to use it, because I can watch archived Sox games, just not LIVE. Ohhhhhh - Niiice.

Why do we open in Cleveland?
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) I have a free month on MLB.tv because I bought MLB The Show, but I still can't watch the Sox play. Wanna hook a brother up?

Why do we open in Cleveland?
QUOTE (TitoMB @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 01:15 AM) It is really frustrating. This is why I support chopping two weeks off each end of the regular season (and adding a 3 game wild card "play-in"). Baseball and snow do not go well together. Who here has gotten hit by a ball in the cold? Or taken a good rip and had your hands sting (aluminum bats anyways)? It's brutal. I'm guessing that the weather will be fine as well. Cold - you're right TIto - it's tough to play in. Regardless of the weather - It's time for the boys to come out and get it done.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
Really cool interview - 9 minutes of video. Was just posted today... don't know if this is recent or someone just waiting until now to post this interview. http://whitesox.baseballfans.info/video/ja...white+sox+store edit: Eh, it was from when he first was traded over here. Not even worth listening to IMO.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) The Battle of Millibridge. How cool would it be to see Lastings go after a ball in center and start a fight with Mighty Mouse?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) I'd imagine 10-17 in April could be tolerated if they're back to .500 by end of May...but that's pushing it. I just want to worry about being 1 and 0.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) That was perfect! Good for an early morning smile - that's for sure.

I'm hoping that he can actually be serviceable and just give us quality starts ala 4.5era

Sometimes J4L - I access soxtalk while not logged in and thus - have to read your posts. There's nothing wrong with having a negative view of players or the orginization but the way you present your views really opens you up to offending a lot of people and thus - a lot of fire. Can you please stop with the personal stuff on these boards and restrict use to discussion about the sox. It will make for a better experience all the way across the board. For you, for other members, and for guests.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
Ozzie on Peavy and 2011: "Like I said from the first day of Spring Training, since January at SoxFest, we have to be really careful. We are going to go little by little because this man is very valuable to the White Sox for this year. I don't care about next year. I might not even be here next year. I worry about this year. He's very valuable for us if we want to continue to get what we want to get."

Humber
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 02:21 AM) So it looks like they're sticking with Humber for April 6th. Probably better off facing KC than the Rays. How about five starts for Humber, and Peavy debuts May 2 vs Baltimore? I could live with that. Sounds good - bring it. 5 starts - 3 and 2 record in those starts... Peavy back on May 2nd... let's go!

Humber
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) Humber was a top prospect, had surgery and now has a new pitch. While I don't think he'll contend for the Cy Young, I think as a fifth starter for a month, he should do OK. If the Sox are .500 in his starts, they are ahead of the game. Totally agreed. Marquez thou - I'm not sure I'd totally write him off yet. I personally haven't seen enough of him yet.

ST: 3/24 vs Cubs
QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) LMAO at the Cubs fans waving the W flags and going nuts after the win I don't care if we lose all spring training games against the cubs for the rest of baseball history... So long as we continue to whip the crap out of them come regular season!
-
ST: 3/24 vs Cubs
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 12:43 AM) I realize that Dunn has nothing to prove, and shouldn't risk injury, but I really feel like he was going on 40% on each of his 2 groundouts today, and both of them he almost beat out because the shift had the defense so deep. No need for him to be busting his hump on grounders in spring training. I'd rather him pull up at 40% all Spring and have healthy legs for the entire year. How horrid would it be if he pulled a tendon or something before April!

Humber
Even though today wasn't anything special - you gotta keep giving Humber more innings.
-
ST: 3/24 vs Cubs
There we go - give me 6 more innings of that and call it a fifth starter.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) My TV is widescreen on crack and is cutting off the right side of the screen. Can anyone tell me what velocity Humber is hitting on his heat? Same situation here pal. =P

ST: 3/24 vs Cubs
Let's see if he can get it together. We know what's not to like about Humber - hopefully he can show us the other side of the coin too.
