  1. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) One thing interesting he said..which is not a good sign if taken literal. He said that they have to go back to square 1 with Jake, get him ready for 1st round of the playoffs. Pretty much he said they are unsure of where the injury will take Peavy from here. How else can this be taken? I don't understand why Cooper would say something like this if we were talking just straight tendinitis...hummm
  2. I think we need to wait another 48 hours before making any heated comments or paying heed to either point of view.
  3. Johnny on the spot with that Ptatc - thanks for being a voice of reason.
  4. Where's the good resident doctor when he's needed?
  5. Wasn't able to watch the game but it is FANTASTIC news that Jake was hitting 94 and that he threw 67!
  6. When is Jake's next start? Anyone know??
  7. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 07:02 AM) I want Sale as the closer for two reasons. 1. Thornton is great as a setup man, I'm not sure he has the mental makeup to be the closer. On the flip side I think that Sale showed he's got brass balls being brought up to the big team after a handful of minor league innings and being very successful in a pennant race. 2. Thornton has gotten by his entire career with just one pitch, the heater. He doesn't really have a GOOD secondary offering. I want our closer to have at least a second or third good pitch to turn to when the heater isn't working, Sale has these secondary pitches with his slider and changeup. This. End of story. If Sale falters - give it to Thornton but Sale is the better choice by leaps and bounds IMO.
  8. To me - it isn't a question of merit... ( ie: Thorton 'earned it' ) but rather a question of the situation itself. Sale is the clear choice to me because he features more effective pitches. It shouldn't be a hard choice in my book.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 01:36 AM) maybe he thought it was a walk-off, and then realized that there was no crowd there to beat on his head. Not the sharpest tool in the shed - Eay?
  10. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) Morel is hitting .150 It's spring training His career numbers as a professional hitter are above .300 He's probably only had like - what - 30 ABs... MAYBE??? QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) people are going to want to see Dayan over there if he can play average defense He can't.
  11. This no big deal. Unruffled panties prevail.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Unless CQ straightens himself out. Which is HIGHLY possible.

Let's have a Soxtalk meet up for the first series!
  14. This is good news: "Plans to make next start monday vs. Friars"
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) @SI_JonHeyman Peavy start (3 2/3 IPs) looked better to us than him. What the hell does that mean? I guess Jake wasn't happy with his performance??
  16. Yea - and the Giants guy didn't say anything else about it yet. At one point he did say: "I don't know what this is about and I don't want to overstate anything but it doesn't look like a normal reaction from a pitcher.... He's in the dugout now and not showing any signs of pain - getting high fives from his team mates." I don't know what to think other than *uck the giants radio guy.
  17. Announcer on the Giants feed said that Peavy was on the mound showing discomfort - then Guillen jumped up and took him out right away. It's hard to tell what happened just from a radio feed.
  18. What happened?
  19. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) What to do with Dayan Viciedo. We have him controlled for 3 more years following this one? We need to have him on the big club. I think we have 5 more years left. 3 under contract ( this includes 2011 ) and 2 arbitration years. Then he is a free agent as I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) Go to whitesox.com. Both are on the front page. Well - finally - WTF... it didn't work for me when I tried since 2:00... spring training MLB bug I suspect. Thanks Dick.

  22. is anyone else not able to see the webcast on mlb.com?? for me the only option is to listen to their gameday audio and no option to see video. please advise. =P
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) You are the MVP of the offseason, my friend. Has anyone seriously brought more knowledge to this board since Peavy went down? The answer is no. Second this - and I'd even argue that no one has brought more knowledge regarding Peavy's situation - period.
  24. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) I was literally the closest person to Peavy other than the sox coaches watching him warm up in the bullpen. He seemed very comfortable and was working on his mechanics. His 2 innings of pitching spoke for themselves, he looked great. He will be starting the season in the rotation, I'll tell you that. I can't believe how few people were watching jake warm up. I couldn't believe it was 3 miles from my house I never thought I'd talk to Coop and be the only one watching jake warm up. That my friend - is flipping AWESOME. Welcome to spring training. =)
  25. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 12:01 AM) Feel free to correct me if I'm way wrong on this, I'm not an expert in the field. That would be ptac's department good Sir. =P
