Freddy Garcia
I thought the purpose of getting Fred in here was to help build up his arm strength and maybe he could be a factor for us next year if that went well? If we bring in the Fred who was throwing 85 the past few years...he's going to get shelled.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) Why is this thread title a question? It should be a statement or possibly an exclamation. Considering it'll take a 15 plus year career to establish a HOF career rather than a few months...

Chris Getz can play. He's exactly the kind of player Ozzie wants in our lineup and he'll be in that lineup for a long time.

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) I'm having trouble understanding why people are putting Quentin in the 3-hole in potential lineups. He has yet to prove that he should be in that spot now, or Opening Day 2010. His numbers on the year are less than inspirational. Quentin has been crushing everything he has hit the past week. It is only a matter of time before he goes on a tear hitting somewhere around .400 the next couple of weeks IMHO.

Superb work as always! Thanks, knightni!

Sox versus Yankees August 2, 2009 game thread
Nunez must really have a sweeping slider with the way he throws.

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 01:58 PM) Ya, it's highly unlikely, but that'd be such an infusion of speed and OBP in our lineup, it'd be fantasmic. I'd much rather explore cheaper alternatives with what we already have on deck in Jor Danks and perhaps Jared Mitchell.

Sox versus Yankees August 2, 2009 game thread
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Sox hitters need to be patient at the plate as they were yesterday and hit with RISP which has been the difference b/w the 2 teams in the series so far. Getting a 4 game sweep against the Yanks would be quite the accomplishment. Different ballgame today. Yesterday's ump squeezed both starting pitchers a bit...which really favored the WSox with AJ's lack of command over his fastball. If CC is predictable with his first pitch for whatever reason...the WSox need to jump on him.

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) I hope that some of you are right about Crawford, but I just don't see it happening. The Rays would want a massive package in return and, after Richard and Poreda were dealt, I just don't see Kenny tapping the farm system again. The Rays might not be willing to deal him anyway. I agree Crawford would pretty much clean out our farm system. I'd have to believe the Rays would ask for Danks or Mitchell, Flowers and another top tier prospect....we just can't afford to do something like that IMHO.

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 07:26 AM) Holliday won't happen - he's a Boras client. There have been all kinds of Holliday wishes around here, which really surprises me due to the fact you just mentioned.

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 02:08 AM) I don't want any part of a 3/$30 deal for Figgins. Not with the kids we have in the pipeline. This thought should make Figgins' name a lot less popular around here.

Rick Hahn on the Score
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Sounds like they see Bacon long-term at 3b? Based on Ozzie's previous comments to go along with this one from Hahn...I would say absolutely.

Peavy throwing from the mound

2010 Lineup
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) I hope this is just Ozzie being Ozzie. It seems like a shame to me to waste Gordon's ability at third when he could be one of the top 3-4 offensive 2b in baseball (if not better). What else do we have at 3rd in the organization? Do we dare name Viciedo has our future 3B? I don't see him staying over there as he moves across the infield. I actually believe Beckham will be our guy at 3rd for a long time.

Would Joe Mauer be worth going after as a FA in 2010?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) I can't see them ever letting him go. He is THE Minnesota Twins. Hometown kid, developed by the organization. I can't imagine he is going anywhere unless he just gets insanely greedy and they can't pay him. But if there is anyone the Twins will overpay to keep, it is Mauer. I agree. I'd be shocked if he didn't retire a Twin.

Clayton Richard debut
QUOTE (DanksFan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) He did have some pretty good cuts at the dish. He smoked one for his 2nd out. I think he'll collect a few hits over there in the NL. His athleticism is obvious. Tough to see him go, but then I quickly remember what we got in return and it isn't so bad.

We love you Gordon, oh yes we do
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) "You know i like my girls, a little bit older..." Whoa, wouldn't it be creepy if the whole Outfield song is some wish fulfillment thing for Beckham? A bit disturbing indeed.

2010 Lineup
Ozzie has already been quoted as saying Beckham will be our 3B for a very long time. Lex will stay at SS with Getz at 2B. I wouldn't be shocked to see Jordan Danks (Danks 2) take down CF in ST next year. Viciedo is a LONG way away...I'm interested to see what happens with Flowers. I wouldn't be surprised to him brought up as Thome's replacement in the lineup while moving him around at DH/C/1B.

QUOTE (DanksFan @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) wow... clayton makes the throw to first!!! He had that big smile after pulling that off. He looks like he's having fun out there.

Clayton Richard debut
Prince just hit one 900 feet off of him to right...Braun just missed one at the track to Left, which flew a good 355 feet

Clayton Richard debut
I live in the Milwaukee area and have watched the whole game. He's thrown his change twice. All fastballs/curve....looks good.
