I kind of want to travel to Chicago just to see this.

I went shopping in Kuwait City once and in the mall parking lot seeing someone drive a Maserati is like seeing someone here driving a Civic. I saw a guy driving a Lexus, he must've been from one of the rougher neighborhoods.

Yeah I can see why they'd be pissed off about that, but honestly, there is a lot of gray area between the general "anti-government" undercurrent and groups/militias that cross into white supremacist territory and it isn't always clear unless it's blatant, like the National Socialist Movement. White supremacist groups do have some legitimate political views and they just happen to overlap with the views of right-wing protester types sometimes. That's something you don't bring up in polite company and bringing it up will ALWAYS start something because people like to jump to the conclusion they're being called a racist (saying there is some overlap with legitimate political views is not even close to the same thing as saying all conservatives are racist, but people read what they want to read, and you don't see people talking about it on TV because it's easily diluted). Has anyone ever read literature from the modern KKK? Different chapters do different things but for the most part they aren't into extremist violence and inciting race riots and s*** like that anymore, they leave that to the neo-nazis, skinheads, NSM, etc. at least from what I can see. I mean they still don't care much for non-whites, but besides that they more or less see themselves as a legitimate political movement. And, well, their views on things like welfare, immigration, affirmative action, etc. actually sound an awful lot like listening to Sean Hannity or Pat Buchanan. I'm not really trying to make a point, just saying.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) I concur. I would like for them to say worse, actually. "Lou Pinella's pregnant ass can suck on a big fat dick!" Somethin' like that. Edit: Wait, I can say dick with no filter? YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARDDDDDDDD, YESSSS!!!!! I lol'd

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) Bye bye Frank. Thanks for everything. Dude seriously might be the most underrated player of all time. :notworthy Lucky for us he never played east of the Hudson, for the Cubs, or for a team in LA, where he'd have been (justifiably) hyped to no end.

I know he was already basically retired but this still makes me sad.

Dye says "crowded outfield" prolonged his slump

I loved JD and he was my favorite player while he was here, but until this offseason he never struck me as the kind of guy that made excuses. -
Sometimes I wonder why I even use Xbox Live, my whole friends list is either playing Madden or Modern Warfare 2 at any given time. MW2 is a great game but I never lost interest in a game so fast.

When I get into it with you guys on here I don't really consider it fighting, more like "sparring."

Balta, that's exactly what the Facebook comment that prompted the asshattery I was talking about earlier was talking about. It snows because that's what it does in winter, nobody ever has, or probably ever will, claim that rising temperatures are going to make winter go away and it's going to stop snowing in northern climates.

They try, and they have done jack s***, because they're so inept. I thought that was pretty strongly implied and didn't have to be said

This is the Dem thread so if they want to say "Dems are better than Republicans" they should be able to do so freely with minimal interference for the most part, this is the thread that's created for people to do that with. I doubt you'd get that anyway, if you paid attention you'd probably notice most people that post in here about Democrats are much more likely to post "eat s*** Democrats, you bunch of f***ing p*****s"
-
Yeah kap, that really wasn't what was being talked about, people in this thread were talking about specific times where the Republicans in Congress were being useless and/or hypocrites and not just saying "republicans like to say no" but ok. I probably wouldn't bother saying anything if you didn't come into the Dem thread which is basically for people to rant about how much Republicans suck, and pretty much say the same thing over and over and over.
-
kap that whole line of "attack" (for lack of a better word) was pretty much supported by specific examples of the Republicans doing what they/we were saying they were doing whereas you just blurted out "Dems suck and want to control you" (for, like... I don't know, the 150th time in this thread)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) I hear she has the same problems with you... Sorry I couldn't leave that slam dunk alone. I pretty much walked into that one. My friend earlier was complaining that he wasn't getting any snow where he lived, and he said he had 4 inches at most. That joke basically told itself, all I had to do was repeat what he just said.

The thing about Mousavi is that he is actually one of the people who was there from the beginning, when people still believed in what Iran likes to think it is today. For the Iranian regime to arrest him is almost like arresting Thomas Jefferson.

I think the sun also loses mass/gravity from the nuclear fusion process but the accuracy of that is still fuzzy to me.
-
Iran is hilarious.
-
btw, Balta isn't the earth's orbit gradually moving away from the sun, and not towards? I'm pretty sure all celestial bodies do that, the other planets are gradually escaping their orbit because they lose their angular velocity or whatever. He claimed the earth was getting closer to the sun

omg I just ran wires from a 9 volt battery to a magnet!

But hey, Balta, you actually went to school to learn this stuff so you can see it in a lot more depth than I can, I'm just your average smart guy who can see recognize bulls*** without much difficulty. Just wait until he sees what happens when you pour vinegar into baking soda!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) Humanity screwing itself out of existence ≠ the end of life on earth. I know. This guy doesn't seem to, though.

Still, a billion years. Unless we get to Mars and discover Prothean ruins to leap technology forward by several generations and then discover a mass relay in Pluto's moon to enable instantaneous transportation throughout the galaxy to let us colonize space (hi Mass Effect) we'd probably screw ourselves through overpopulation and running out of resources long before then. I just thought it was funny this guy thought he was impressing everybody, when half of what he was saying was either factually incorrect or totally irrelevant and he missed the entire point of the climate change argument.
