When you get married and have kids, after a while, you need to make appointments to have sex. If it's not planned, it's not happening.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) Waterboarding a man 183 times in a month is not an intelligence issue. Except maybe an issue of the intelligence of the people ordering it. That isn't so much what I'm talking about, either. That many times isn't done out of necessity, at that point you're just getting off on it. Not that I particularly give a s*** about KSM (if I ever saw him I'd probably slit his throat) but you just have to use common sense... who the hell thought that was a good idea?

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) My dad had the same train of thought with me and my sister growing up. We were told to never go starting & picking fights, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't stand up for ourselves either. My mother told me that if I ever hit a girl that she'd beat the s*** out of me, but if a girl started a fight, she has every right to have her ass kicked. One time this girl slapped me in the face for basically no reason so I slapped her back and she told on me, my mom asked if I had hit her, and why. So I told her, and my mom asked the girl "Why did you just waste my time? You need to be happy he didn't punch or kick you. Get out of my house." mom

Meh. I really hate how the public reacts to intelligence issues. Things like this are in the same category of all that indignation against Missouri over the Ron Paul stickers (the fake paranoia was not EVEN what Missouri was trying to do) or the make-believe furor over the "dissing" of vets in that DHS report.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) Then they ought to follow the damn law with them. If he's not going to prosecute, then why put the spotlight on it? We already know there was some bad legal advice given adn that some people broke the law but for some reason the actual techniques are being released to the public and given unnecessary attention. There is a reason this kind of stuff is not discussed in public, because politicians (regardless of party affiliation) have no f***ing clue when it comes to security unless it pertains directly to them, and they like to exaggerate and grandstand to score political points. The last time this happened on a large scale was following the Nixon administration, and the result from the Congressional investigations that followed was to neuter the effectiveness of the IC which didn't get addressed for several years, in the Reagan administration. Before that, you had Dewey trying to put Truman on blast over the Soviets that would've compromised operations they had going then, and before that you had Justice Roberts (not John Roberts obviously) on the Supreme Court writing an opinion in a SCOTUS decision that interception of foreign communications was illegal. lol, good thing nobody listened to that because if they did, California would be part of the Japanese Empire.

I keep reading about interrogation techniques, which if not secret are at the very least not supposed to be discussed in public, and it's starting to piss me off.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) Define "there" Flying to Baltimore on the day off, before the series starts.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) Yeah on a day off I could see why they shouldn't drive 45 minutes to see the most famous Sox fan in the world. Will they actually be there today?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) The Bulls visited earlier this year so why not the Sox? Well the Verizon Center is also like maybe a mile from the White House, whereas Baltimore is a good 45 minutes to an hour. Just saying.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 09:55 AM) Not to sound like a dork but did she tell the teacher that the fat f*** kicked her? That should be the first step because then she should have free reign to kick him in the nuts because the teacher didnt rectify the problem. Completely unrelated.... I have been seeing a floating spot in my right eye for a couple days and its kinda freakin me out. Well obviously telling the teacher is step 1, but I told her that just in case the teacher can't be everywhere, she can handle her business. If she gets in trouble from school, no way would I follow up on that at home. In fact I'd probably be b****ing the school out.
-
That really sounds like something Chavez would do.

So my stepdaughter has this bully, or whatever, who kicked her and called her ugly last week, and then he did it again the next day. She kicked him back but he kicked her again harder. They're in the 6th grade, I guess the kid is fat and pissed at the world or something and decided to take it out on her. I said, fine, next time he does it, lean into him and knee him in the crotch as hard as you can. She was worried about getting suspended, I said if she did, that's fine and she won't get in trouble at home.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) I dont know...these poll results seem a little biased to me. Yeah, it just doesn't seem like CQ is getting the respect he should.

Will White Sox fans also boo BA if he goes 0/8?

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) You are more level headed about this then most others, and I have also agreed with you on the last sentance of your post. I didn't used to be.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 11:59 PM) Allowing Iran to continue enrichment of uranium and wanting to talk to them is an act of appeasement, for example. GWB wanted enrichment to stop before talks. You have to give something to get something... we're not the ones in the wrong - oh wait, yes we are - by apologizing all over the globe... I find it interesting that you think Obama is doing the exact same thing GWB did from a foreign policy standpoint. That's not really appeasement, it's just doing things differently. Functionally, what's the difference? Short of us bombing their facilities and/or going to war, Iran is going to do what it wants to do whether we talk to them or not. I could've said "every other president" but I used Bush's name on purpose. Bush wasn't wrong about everything, I mean some of this stuff is cookie-cutter and it doesn't matter if you have a Democrat or a Republican in office. IMO Bush's biggest mistakes on that front were unilateralism (this is OK when you have a very serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately, but when you have to hype something up and bulls*** everyone so they can believe it's justified, something is wrong), and thinking terrorism was an existential military threat that we could just bomb a lot and it'd go away.
-
Who is being appeased, exactly... he pretty much laid out the same demands/expectations of Iran that Bush did but in different language, he made a good faith gesture to Cuba and then said the ball was in their court along with a series of things the US wanted to see them do but it's basically the same list the US has had for decades. He hasn't backed down from the "war on terror," he just changed some words around and has a different strategy from Bush. He's still the American president, he's still pursuing American foreign policy objectives. He hasn't really "appeased" anyone except to use the carrot/stick approach which is more or less basic diplomacy.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) Is anybody else getting excited about Paulie's production so far as well? I almost started a Paulie thread but don't want to hex him. Also it seems AJP and Thome have hit well the days after their days off. I'm all for resting them against some lefties. It's refreshing to see Paulie hitting in April. Lately, it's been a depressing month for him. If we can get the 2005, 2006 version of Paulie, then we're set.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) O/U Quentin hits 80 hr? It depends on whether The Carlos Quentin wants to hit 80 HRs or not. Maybe he'll wait until next year.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) O/U: Quentin hits 50 HR. The Carlos Quentin scoffs at your attempt to impose the same arbitrary limitations you impose on silly mortals.

Anderson usually hits the ball with authority, it's making contact that's been the problem. There is no way his walk rate is going to stay this high, but if anything it means he's looking comfortable at the plate and seeing decent at-bats. I'm not going to put the cart before the horse, I'm still not confident in his swing and it'll take several more weeks before we can see where he's really at.

lol, witesoxfan I was going to post that originally but I figured I'd be nice.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 05:09 PM) ESPN, a couple of posters who don't think the Mets got Santana for nothing much. Also, when I went to the Dump Dome last summer I saw just as many Gomez shirts as Morneau shirts. The Sox literally subsidize his batting average, his splits vs. us were crazy. Take them away and he is just plain below average.
