Chicago (5-4) at Tampa Bay (4-6); April 17, 6:38 CDT

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) You know how our start times are sponsors by 711? Well there is a Tampa Bay chain of stores that sells things that old retired people need called "638". It would be 738 actually, this is the East Coast -
Cmon, you guys complain when liberal posters lurk in the Republican thread... cross-posting is ok but there is a line that should be respected.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) Yankee Stadium. There really was something about that place. I went there last year - it was pretty much a dump though. It definitely had the aura, but good god was it a horrible stadium. Living here in MD I will vouch for Camden Yards, I try to go see the Sox play at least once a year and at this point I think I've been there more than the Cell. I'll be going in a couple of weeks.

Point taken, no more losterbole from me.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) Now, why is that? Part demographics, part where the campaigning is done, part tradition, part cultural differences.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Please don't go there. I figure the sarcasm/facetiousness here was heavy enough.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) So the Messiah gives a speech at Georgetown, references the Sermon on The Mount, but asks school officials to cover up the IHS, referencing Jesus Christ, that was behind him....WTF?.... He is Jesus.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) I might be wrong with specifics, but i'm pretty sure the majority of counties in upstate new york generally vote republican. The Buffalo/Rochester area is pretty liberal, Broome county (Binghamton) is in the middle, Syracuse and Albany can lean left but most every other county is fairly conservative. Generally, the more north and/or west you go in NY, the more conservative it is going to be. As for being rural, Buffalo and Rochester are big, Albany is a good sized with a lot of smaller suburb cities, Syracuse is a decent size but it appears larger cuz theres always so much traffic and Binghamton is ~50K. Not many other cities of significance in the state. Most states in the US are this way, even the blue states, I've found. If you look at a map of blue vs. red counties, most of the country looks overwhelmingly red, but the vast majority of the Dems live in urban/populated areas.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) As someone who has been to NY once in his life... and doesnt remember much of it.... is "upsate", or anything away from NYC much more of a rural, conservative, area? It's kind of like Chicago vs. the rest of IL.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) A la William Ligue Jr and Son What annoys me is that stuff like that happens just as often at Wrigley, if not more (remember the guy that got stopped just before he got to the pitcher's mound) but Sox fans are the ones with that reputation.

Soxbadger, I never knew about Texas v. White.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) I thought that was kind of a contrived story about the racism. It implied heavily that everybody knows Wrigley crowds are racist. I find it hard to believe in this day and age fans at Wrigley would laugh and condone racist jokes by people sitting in their section. I would think if the paper wanted a story on racism they probably should have spent a lot more time on it and polled players on many teams about playing in Wrigley and the Cell and asking them if they had any problems. And also go in the stands and talk to some fans in both ballparks and get some off the record comments if fans didn't want to go on the record. I am not a Cub fan, but I find it hard to believe that park is as racist as the article implied. It's definitely not the first I've heard of drunk fans in Wrigley acting like that, so I wouldn't doubt it. However, that article made it sound like they have KKK rallies in the bleachers or something, which anyone who has ever been to a Cubs game knows is laughable. But yeah I totally believe that there are individual dumbasses out there that make the rest of them look bad.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) Sounds like someone who has gotten their ass kicked one too many times by some 12 year old on XBOX Live. I don't play it on Xbox Live thank you very much. Why would I do that? I play games I like on Xbox Live. -
Thank Quentin for our pitching staff.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) Anyone who's watching, Farmer/DJ just agreed the ump missed the call on Josh, are they right? It was pretty close, bang bang play. Looked like they got there at about the same time. I was surprised they called him safe though. -

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) ah, thanks. I glanced up and saw it for a split second before it faded away on the screen. I thought I saw .091, lol. You probably did, it's not like he's had that many ABs. He's walked a pretty fair amount so far though. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) I think your guys' defense of this is absolutely sickening, and that's all I have to say about that. I'm not defending anything, I'm just saying I want to beat the s*** out of Abu Zubaydah. Cuz I do. I really do.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) No, no... he has American rights... I'll say it, and I mean it. f***tards like this have NO rights. You lose your right to "humanity" when you vow to kill thousands of innocent people. Period. You save lives by pouring water over his face or putting a cockroach in with him, I don't give a s***, and neither do most Americans given the choice. He lost his rights and liberty when he decided to mastermind a bunch of asshole zealots to kill a bunch of innocent people. *whiney* oh we're better then that... please. You have to prove that he's guilty but I seriously would love to beat the s*** out of him.
