  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) All you have to do is watch when we play the Angels. I'm actually an Ozzie fan because I believe the most important thing a manager can do is motivate players, but when it comes to managing in a game, just watch Scoscia. Plus whoever else they've got on the bench does a fine job as well because they must steal on average of 1 sign per game in a series. That said, I'd still rather have Ozzie because I love the passion he brings to the club. I'm hopeful he'll continue to improve in the future. BTW Ozzie is also a great manager when it comes to developing starting pitchers. He has confidence when a lot of managers wouldn't. He's not afraid to let a guy work out of a jam. Case in point: today. Even though Burls is the most consistent veteran in the Central and one of the most consistent in the AL, how many managers would have pulled him in the 5th after that HBP? Yeah, that's something I'll never take away from him. He gives the guy the ball and lets them pitch.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) What was more likely...the Royals making an error or bobbling a ball so that Dye could score, or Wise getting a hit with 2 outs? Well, I rip on Wise a LOT but he has some respectable clutch stats (at least he did in 2008 because in his career, he's garbage).
  3. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Mahay, Cruz, or even Soria with the game in the balance there. Also, as Ozzie is talking about it here, why did Cox send Jermaine after we scored our first run? The man was out as soon as Cox waived his hand. Meh, the alternative was letting Wise hit again.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) He plays well above his skill-set. I expect to see him put up 30+ doubles this season and 10+ homers too along with a .280ish average. He's just a smart player with a good idea of what he wants to do at the plate. I'm excited as hell. And that's a very good ballplayer. I'll take it any day.
  5. Getz makes me horny in as heterosexual a way as possible.
  6. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) I really am amused by people who still think Ozzie is a good manager. Ozzie seems to get lucky a lot when he makes some god-awful decisions. I don't bother saying much more though because I get that he's popular and the Sox have been successful under him.
  7. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) but according to oz and kenny he has fight! and this look!! lol the only thing he has left to do to complete this fiasco is to have him badly misplay a ball in CF, that I guess that look in his eyes theoretically could've helped him reach
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) LOL I was waiting for you to chime in on Dweezy. I was going to after 2 Ks but I figured I'd wait for the third one.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Still, Brian Anderson is FAR from the answer at leadoff. It's the SAME exact problem we've been looking straight in the face for five months now. Nobody wants Anderson to be leading off.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) Didn't take long for Wise to be exposed now did it? He had about 2 fans on this board, I imagine they are still going to be around. Why, I don't know.
  11. D-WISE WITH THE HAT TRICK WOOOOOOOOOO Holy s*** he sucks.
  12. Holy s*** this is like a stack of dominoes. Who's next?
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) http://www.wbng.com/news/local/42535277.html Meh wouldn't those jobs go away when the other 100 or so planes were finished being built in a couple of years anyway? (actually, no, they would just be rolled into another major multi-billion dollar defense project, it has no beginning and no end)
  14. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Does Wise get another at-bat or is this experiment over? Is it possible to DFA a player during a game?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) Konerko lines a single to Left Center. Bases loaded, nobody out. And who's up? Pierzynski. Get to Alexei with the bases loaded. For God's Sake get to Alexei with them still loaded. this edit: and it's for Quentin's sake
  16. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) We gonna make Dweezy Chuck Norris-like? Dweezy doesn't hit home runs, he stares the ball into the outfield concourse. lol actually what he meant was more along the lines of "Dweezy sometimes has coincidental at-bats where four pitches are thrown that are not strikes before something else happens"
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) A small part of me dies whenever I think about what could've been in 1994. Frank was having one of the great statistical seasons in the history of the sport. And it could've easily went down as the greatest statistical season in the history of the sport. It very well could've been. That year was just insanity.
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) I realize that this may come as a shocker to you, but pitchers are players as well. Care to explain how you're going to compare Frank to Ed Walsh? What does this have to do with the topic rangercal tried to start?
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) I'm so happy I could soil my shorts. Go Sox! Could? Sheeit
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 08:43 AM) IAM (shipps) going to do my mark to market accounting post today, just because I'm in that mood. I have a doctor's appointment that I'm leaving for now, and when I come back after watching the kiddos for a while, I will banquish myself to upstairs and write it out. Here's hoping for no distractions. If not then I will put you on the spot and make a thread called "kapkomet's M2M thread"
  21. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) probably supreme court eventually. idk, I'd really rather it not do that.
  22. My Facebook status earlier said they may as well just rename the whole thing "Michael Jordan Basketball Hall of Fame" and then we start talking about Jordan's impact.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) There was a good article by Adrian Wojnarowski suggesting just that. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Aikq...o&type=lgns It's been over 10 years since he retired (The Wizards years never happened as far as I'm concerned), and there's still just no way to 100% put into words his overall impact on the game, sports and society in general. Yeah when I was overseas and I'd tell people I was from Chicago they'd go "ohhh Michael Jordan"!
