QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:06 PM) Best health care system in the world! And yes, getting in to a doctor in 2 weeks is still fairly lucky. Seriously, that was my first thought. Isn't that just about the main complaint, that it would take forever to get an appointment? So how's that different from now, where I can't get a doctor to take a glance at a flaming blister on my foot that makes me limp for 5 minutes for 6 weeks? For all the complaints I had about the military's healthcare system, if I was sick or otherwise in pain, I'd get seen within a few hours or at the latest that next morning, not weeks later.

Is the First Lady an Amazon woman, is Queen Elizabeth II just tiny, or both?

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) Follow up needed. I guess my brother called my mom, and I was waiting for her to call me last night, and she didn't. She woulda fallen for it though, she's easy.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) Yeah, it's not like 10+ teams are knocking on the door or anything... Not the point. Showing interest and being willing to actually pull the trigger are two different things. If someone wants to give Denver an unrealistically big package (2 first rounders, a 2nd, and a player for example) then you don't outbid, you let them. If Denver wants to ask for that, fine, but you negotiate down, not up. You don't just offer that high because you want it really bad. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) No doubt on the locker rooms. I felt it was only a matter of time until I contracted some sort of fungus or rare disease by spending any time in the Ballys locker room. Speaking of which, I have athlete's foot right now and it feels like my foot is on fire. I call the doctor since the OTC stuff isn't working fast enough and they are talking about May 14. LOL. Are all doctors this full of s***? I'll be damned if I have to go to an urgent care center and pay a 50 dollar deductible.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) Think about the possibility of this being the rest of our offseason: -Sign Pace, Holt, and Lucas. -Trade our 1st and 3rd this year, a conditional pick in 2010 that can become a 1st rounder (automatically a 2nd or 3rd round pick no matter what), Orton, and one of Vasher, McBride or Graham (whichever one Denver feels would be the best fit, I think it would be Graham) for Cutler. I think/hope that would get the deal done. That's jizz worthy right there. Wow, jizz worthy because Denver can go f*** themselves for that deal. There's a limit to what's reasonable especially when Denver has NO leverage. -

QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 11:35 PM) This is a franchise and all pro QB. I'd pull a Ditka and give up our whole draft this year for him. So long as you are aware that was one of the most epic of fails in the history of the draft, up there with Herschel Walker, then that's ok. -

Why even consider having BA lead off? -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) What is everyone willing to give up for Cutler? I'd give up Orton, our 1st and 3rd this year, and a conditional pick next year depending on his performance (either a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd). How about a jar of Vaseline too? -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) I told my mom that I got a girl pregnant. Took it one step further by having my sister call my mom and ask if she had heard about it yet. It worked quite well. brb doing this

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) She could've easily turned that one on you by saying she's the one who gave it to you. She really could've gotten you bad. She told me she knew it was coming, and that I needed to step up my game. Her daughter got her really good though. Typed up a fake progress report w/bad grades on it and gave it to her.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) I do because it shows the lack of respect that these people have. In the "picture" case, it was a different term and a different circumstance all together. When you have foreign dignataries giving us a pen set made from the same wood as the Resolute and ours gives DVD's, I'm sorry, it's a total lack of respect for the history of your office. Huh? How? The Queen gave Obama a signed/framed picture of her and her husband. edit: bah didn't read the next page first, AHB already said it

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 03:26 PM) I'm sure that went over well. She didn't buy it, which I guess is a good thing.

I told my wife I had chlamydia.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 02:12 PM) How can a guy go from penciled in at leadoff for a contender, to 61 spring training at-bats later he is clearing waivers? The same way a guy clears waivers the year before, and is later penciled in as a leadoff hitter/CF for said team.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) Got it. It doesn't guarantee a loss of money, though. It depends on several things. It does in the short term, but assuming it stimulates growth, you'd eventually have to raise them back. I think there is a sweet spot somewhere that maximizes revenue, nobody knows where it is though.

QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) Will it get me in trouble at work??? Nah. All you're doing is looking at words that Google puts in the search box.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) I think some of this is getting cherry picked and not reported correctly. Well it's the Huffington Post, not CNN. However, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that was correct, because budget gimmicks are just a fact of life.

If you give someone a choice, who the hell is going to choose the higher tax rate? Sheesh. I pay taxes because they make me pay taxes, but you'd best believe I look for every deduction I can. Just like everyone else.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 01:19 PM) I disagree to an extent. I think it's a BIG leap to say that if the world now trades on say... the Euro... that all of a sudden I will be going to Ace Hardware and be paying for my door hinge with a Euro. When you go to other countries, it's assured you will be spending their money. I cant say I've traveled overseas... well, at all. but my wife has. And every country she goes to, she exchanges her money for local currency. That's not exactly what it means, though. Of course everyone has their own currency, but everything is done against the dollar. The United States is in a pretty privileged status and it's also pretty unusual, since we can borrow money from other countries in our currency and even print our own money to pay it back.

Dewayne Wise Named Full-time Starting CF/Leadoff hitter
lostfan replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Wise significantly outslugged Pods though and was 9/9 on steals. Those extra 3 outs I think make up the difference in OBP's completely. Point taken on the SB%, but do you really think he's gonna steal at a 100% rate? Yes he was 9 for 9 in the majors, but at Charlotte in the same year, he was 8 for 15. His career percentage in the minors is 71%. In the majors he's 21/22 which is 95% but obviously that's a much smaller sample size, I'd have to think there would be a regression to the mean eventually. That said, no I am not necessarily saying I want Pods back, for obvious reasons. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Maybe this makes sense in a roundabout way. They know it'll never pass, so they're proposing something polar-opposite to the Democrats' plans. Then, in 2010, when the economy is still stumbling, they can say "see, we told you! we didn't want to go along with their bad ideas!" Yeah, I said this in another thread a couple weeks ago. It's like an elaborate marketing ploy. It's nothing like what they'd actually do if they were in power, they know they can't really do anything. It's a make-or-break strategy though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) In limited action last year he hit .253 with a .322 OBP and was 12/16 on steals. You know...I'm really not sure... Better than Wise. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 12:31 PM) Chicago's infrastructure is literally falling apart in front of our eyes. The best chance they have at getting that fixed is by getting the olympics here. That will mean the surface streets will get fixed, the El will get fixed, the interstates will get fixed, etc. World wide attention and free publicity will be showered on Chicago and will portray it as one of the most incredible places in the world, and serve as a reminder to the entire planet what Chicago has to offer the world. It will also force a critical eye to all of the negatives that happen here, such as corruption, because it will be the national and world medias and not the subserviant Chicago media who will want answers. If you can't suck up 2-3 weeks worth of pain to recognize how much better off in the long run the City of Chicago would be for having the olympics, you are right, it isn't worth talking about. I could write this word for word and pass it off as my thoughts.

They are still talking about a spending freeze? Why? Railing against excessive spending is one thing, but a spending freeze is borderline retarded.
