  1. Correct me if I'm wrong but 2K5 isn't against gay marriage.
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) We could win it, we could lose it. I'm sure something will happen. Don't want to go too far out on a limb here
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) LOL @ Bachmann. Is she actually Ann Coulter? Has anyone ever seen both of them at the same time?
  4. I remember when Plaxico was getting drafted, he was being interviewed by some NFL team and during the interview he stopped to answer a cellphone call from one of his boys. There is no doubt he can play, but he is the definition of a head case.
  5. QUOTE (rangercal @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) anyone think MJ deserved to be 1st ballot? He needs to have his own damn building in the Hall.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) My laugh was at needing to bring 12 telepromptors. That's what I figured. 12?
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I know I've been over it several times in this forum. Do not rely on media reports whenever guns are involved, because they are hilariously misinformed. You can buy semi-automatic AK-47 look-a-likes all day long, but they are not functionally equivalent to real AK-47's. A real AK-47 was not used in this crime. Fully automatic weapons have been very heavily regulated since the 30's. There have only been two incident of a legally-owned one being used in a crime since then, and one was by a police officer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act I know this is a bit snarky, but the anti-gun crowds are just completely ignorant when it comes to knowing what guns actually are. I think it was you a couple of months back that was talking about the word "semi-automatic" being used in some media report as if it was some mysterious uberdangerous weapon, which is pretty funny since a step down from semi-automatic would be like a manually loaded single-shot weapon that you had to re-chamber every time you fired it.
  8. Automatic rifles are overrated anyway IMO. Real life is different than video games, you end up wasting a lot of ammo and it's hard to hit your target.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) I meant the AK-47 style gun...so automatic machine gun Oh, full auto weapons in general? They're already illegal.
  10. There's also no such thing as a semi-automatic machine gun.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Children are allowed to pray on their own account as much as they want. They can even organize clubs like FSA and use school resources after-hours. Just can't have the teachers or administrators doing it. Right, I am completely in support of the former, and I can't see how any reasonable person wouldn't be, either. The latter is a different story.
  12. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) The reason I do not like that stat.......how many times did the defense give up more than 21 points becasue of Cutler mistakes. 1 int resulting in 7 points can result in that stat being blown. This just becomes statistical noise, you can do that with any stat. An INT that hits a WR on the hands and bounces off into a DB's hands is still an INT even if it wasn't the QB's fault. The takeaway from that stat is that Denver's defense was one of the worst in the NFL, and any QB would struggle winning with that.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) BTW I absolutely love Dwight's quote about the Bulls that lostfan posted. Howard should really be getting some more MVP consideration BTW. Just in case some people took it seriously, that article is satire. It wouldn't be the first time that happened.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 08:37 AM) If kids want to, why not, who does it hurt exactly? Are we talking about individual kids praying on their own account, or a school employee leading a prayer for everyone?
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) And again, I would never, ever trust anyone (including us) to make the first move in reality, although everyone would probably say they would. It'd need a lot of transparency like the START treaty has right now. If they (or us) is bulls***ting, then either the inspectors will find out, or the reconnaissance photos, or whatever. I'm not sure what would happen if someone violates it, though.
  16. It's really not as flowery and farfetched as it sounds, though, and the theory does have some merit. The catch, and a big one, is getting everyone to agree to take that jump. If you can do that and then actually manage to develop measures to control new proliferation, then it's possible. But until then, it's "you first."
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) It is ignorant if there's no way to verify. The old saying goes... trust, but verify. Frankly, do you trust the Russians and Chinese to totally disarm? I don't. Yeah, but naturally, they don't really trust us either. In the existing START treaty we have with the Russians, somewhere in there is language about mutual inspections and "national technical means" which is basically a pretty euphemism saying we both know we will be spying on one another to make sure we stay in compliance. Nobody in their right mind would blindly hand over a trump card like that, though.
  18. Well, I'll agree that Obama has gotten away with a few things that are in essence the same that Bush did (and at the same time, Bush wasn't always wrong), but Bush couldn't get away with it since everyone hated him, and Obama gets a free pass because he's popular and he's not Bush. As for everything else, I've realized and accepted that the majority of Americans are pretty dumb. That's why I talk about politics here, where most people are of above-average intelligence and are capable of arguing beyond standard political talking points (with a notable exception or two, I won't mention names), and not somewhere like the comments section of CNN.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) Yup! And it's not very nice, is it? I've sat here and read for 5 damn years about how bad everything Republican is. And as I just said, it's funny because all of you just bite the cheese every time. Feel the love for Mr. Obama! I got your point, so I'll tame it down. But honestly, this is pretty easy pickings. This guy is not what you all thought you were electing. He's a liberal GWB. Some of us, in fact probably more than many people think, honestly were thinking realistically when we voted for him. From that perspective, not only do you have to see the left b****ing about how he is not doing all of the idealistic things they projected onto him (duh), but you get stereotyped by conservative cynics who just call everyone who doesn't blast him for being a liberal (again, duh) mindless sheep. Maybe the shotgun blast is aimed at one group, but it hits everything whether intentional or not.
  20. I know that people were saying that Cutler had 200 more attempts than Orton did, but besides being in a pass-happy offense, to get more attempts you also need to be converting first downs and moving the chains which Orton wasn't always the best at.
  21. At just completely random times, topic notwithstanding, in almost every post? It can get pretty annoying to be honest. That's the same reason people were complaining about AHB during the election season last year.
  22. I heard the most hilarious expression today. "Don't pray in my school and I won't think in your church."
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) Damn, it says the file is damaged so I can't read it. lf, that is now. Keep getting stories like this, it will change. You all are right, this is a very bad example to make my point on ... but I think it does make the point. It's a PDF of a letter from 65 House Democrats saying they have no intention of supporting the AWB. Meaning that during this Congress, even if Obama wanted to, he couldn't get it through Congress. I imagine there are some conservative Dems in the Senate too that wouldn't bring enough votes (in the modern Senate you basically need 60 votes to pass any significant legislation).
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 06:26 PM) Too late. I mean, he is going to save us from everything, is he not? He's just SO AWESOME! I'm so glad he went over to Europe this week to save us from ourselves. You know, that's probably why this guy did this... he's upset Mr. Obama left the country and didn't take care of him in his time of need when he was so upset. And seriously, I'm not making light of the situation... because it's a bad one. But, when you have Mr. Obama making quotes like this and some other things he has said about guns, people get fired up. It DOES NOT make some quack head doing something like this right, but this story and others like it will be used so "gun control" can be created; thus giving Mr. Obama another messianic moment. Read this link http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/AWBLettertoHolder309.pdf He can't. That's 65 House Democrats.
