  1. It's not a matter of IF we lose Maggs it's a matter of WHEN. 60 million dollars is not going to materialize out of nowhere and neither is a willingness to take a paycut in Maggs.
  2. I have to believe that the reason Nomar or alot of other baseball players don't wanna come to the White Sox is the status of this team as second fiddle in Chicago. I know no one wants to work for JR either, but I think Nomar is more of a franchise guy than Magglio. I think having a Nomar roaming around at shortstop will put FANS IN THE SEATS next year and force the national media (see Peter Gammons Nomar Whore) to pay more attention to the Chicago White Sox. That and winning a championship would be nice, wouldn't it? I guess I'm getting ahead of myself here, just trying to stress that Nomar is Sammy w/out the cork, Frank without the whining, and Magglio with a better grasp of the English language (and Mia Hamm don't hurt either).
  3. This is NOT good news. If we deal Maggs I really want a stud like Nomar in our batting order to replace him in addition to the bullpen help.
  4. I saw these renderings a few months ago on wsi, i guess no one ever bothered to post em here. Regardless, welcome to Soxtalk.
  5. As far as legacies go for the entire trilogy, the Matrix trilogy will be merely an afterthought when compared to the LOTR Trilogy.
  6. All the cool people post here. The only thing is alot of cool people trapped on WSI don't even KNOW about this site.
  7. Ah yes I remember that day well. You know it's funny cuz I usually know about the trades from this site or rotoworld before my dad but when he told me about Colon part of me still didn't believe it. For some reason I had a hard time picturing Bartolo Colon holding up a White Sox jersey at a press conference. I think that signing, no matter how mediocre it turned out to be, gave me some confidence that KW is not afraid to make a big move.
  8. Ok well sox-r-us does have a valid complaint. This board rarely caters to its members. The more empty threads that are posted, the harder it makes it for all the other members to look for the information you seek. I understand you are taking finals Shuf but so am I and alot of the other members on these boards. I think it would be in everybody's best interest if you took it easy on the "New Topic" button.
  9. I believe this contract just takes him up to free agency with our team option for 4th year an added bonus. Usually no-trade clauses aren't given to players before they are established and free-agent eligible.
  10. Akron, Ohio of course, the new hot-stove heater of Major League Baseball.
  11. I still think there are teams that would be willing to invest $56 million over four years for a player like Magglio Ordonez. Teams like Boston or Los Angeles would not really have a problem offering a free agent something like that. That's why trading him this offseason may be the only option. Once the season starts, Maggs' value in trades could go down because teams would know that our time is running short in trying to get rid of him. Only a desperate team with something good to offer could give us much for Maggs during the 2004 season. I love Maggs and I hate to read all this trade talk about him but the reality starts to set in that this team is a business and no man should take up 25% of our $50-60 million payroll. That just doesn't work.
  12. I think Spiezio is going to be Seattle's 3rd baseman. Sometimes Seattle makes the weirdest trades.
  13. Wilkerson from the 'spos hit for the cycle last year. I'm not sure if Barrett did. Yeah he was a young hot catcher a couple years back but things really quieted down about him last couple seasons.
  14. It looks like a f***in Sony Handicam with a gun barrel attached. This took 3 years??
  15. Quoth Rotoworld: Looks like Valentin is not the best SS on the market. I'm not sure how much they offered him but does Freddy think he can get a better offer elsewhere? I can say it is my honest opinion that Billy Koch is worth more than either of these guys.
  16. Jeff Cirillo... is anyone gonna want him?
  17. Imagine the rotation we could have put together if we actually kept some free agents: 1 Bartolo Colon 2 Sidney Ponson 3 David Wells 4, 5 Some useless skinny guys Why the sheer size of our starting pitching staff would make us the most feared team in the league. I can't believe we let two of these guys get away!!
  18. My question is: How does Juan Gone even REMOTELY resemble a "grinder". Maggs is 10 times the grinder that Juan is.
  19. Ok so they have corrected their numbers. The $54 is guaranteed with another $11 million in incentives. Most people arenow saying this is basically a $65 million deal although AP says it is $72 million!! Either way that's a TON of money.
  20. Uh oh I just saw a text message on Dez White's Phone!!!!
  21. I see the Brian Roberts blurb on Rotoworld now. I would love to see him in a Sox uni.
  22. Six years??? At 54 Million dollars wow. His agent just made a killing for this guy who did not really have a great 2003 season. I wonder how much of the money is guaranteed/deferred. This makes me more worried that we are gonna make a terrible deal with Seattle and well I should stop speculating. I think Baltimore is the Chicago Cubs of the AL. They spend a whole lot of money like the big boys but they haven't made a serious run in a few years.

In the United States you can be charged with assault for just pointing a gun at someone. Even though this occurred during an interrogation there are still rules.
