Former Senator Paul Simon dies
Paul was always a local favorite when I grew up. I remember playing in a jazz band at one of his benefits in junior high. He really liked to yuk it up with the crowd but seemed like a very personable guy. RIP

Gore endorses Dean
Edwards was my favorite for the past year but signs are looking more and more like he has no shot at the nomination. Howard Dean vs. George W. Bush sounds about as exciting as the 2000 election. Political apathy at its finest right here.

On the Bright Side
My guesses are Jeremy Reed, Willie Haris and Uribe or some other shortstop who has about a .290 OBP

Maggs for Mulder
Mulder grew up in South Holland and I saw him on camera saying he was a lifelong White Sox fan.

Cheap Free Agent Pitchers...
The short answer is no. The long answer is you can't spend a dollar when you have 50 cents.

USC Trojan fans suck
There will probably be a FEW more USC fans in Pasadena CALIFORNIA than in Miami FLORIDA. Good to see SC back where they belong after being absent for these past few years.
-
BCS
Co-champions this year if USC wins the Rose Bowl. And for the rest of history people will always wonder who would win: 2003 Trojans or the winner of the Sugar Bowl.

2005??? How long does it take to draw a few cartoons?? As if Fox has something better to show in 2004.

Just take Mike Green from the bears and use him as me. Only thing is I'm black on the inside.

Bears/ FudgePackers thread
Not but see after this team beat Arizona last Sunday, everyone on the score was predicting a victory this week. People kept going on to project a decade or so of NFC North dominance for the Chicago Bears. Football players always say they take things one game at a time, maybe it's time for the fans to do that as well.

Trade Discussed
Washburn is a Mark Buehrle clone, or maybe it's the other way around. Either way I think he is a good fit for alot of rotations but he isn't really an ace and it would suck to have him and Buehrle together in the same rotation.

Making a case for NCAA Football Playoff
The I-AA playoffs have been around for 25 years or so. I'm not saying that playoffs are not the best way to determine a champion, just that this is the way it has always been done and the system is not that flexible to change. There is alot of money from alot of cities, schools, and companies that has gone into bowl games for a long time. It also gives alot of lower ranked I-A schools a shot at a nationally televised game with a prize. Also, just like in the bowl system the playoff system would leave out the bubble teams. At least with bowl games, more teams get to play a postseason game. Playoffs would dramatically reduce that number.

Making a case for NCAA Football Playoff
I think the BCS is a noble idea but no mathematical formula is perfect. There's a pretty good chance right now that the #1 AP and ESPN team in the country is not going to play for the national title.

Bears/ FudgePackers thread
Key is not to let up. Bears had an a big early lead on St. Louis too. We need to keep putting pressure on these f***ers. Man Favre just keeps making mistakes even a rookie can avoid. He really needs to retire soon.

Who should go to the Sugar Bowl?
I was just thinking the same thing. I have a feeling OU will be there anyways with probably LSU getting the shaft.

why has everyone givein up on koch and konerko
I've always been a big PK fan. He has ALOT to prove to me and all Sox faithful next year though. Sometimes people have fluke good years and sometimes they have fluke bad years. I think Paulie needs to get himself mentally confident at the plate again and everything will be fine.

what about moving c. lee to 1b
Just don't expect Frank to throw anywhere and I think he'd be great for next year.

Russ Gload
Wasn't Gload a can't miss prospect for so many years? Kinda reminds me of Joe Borchard. What is it with our team and having can't miss prospects that miss? (Not writing off Joe B. yet though)
