Jeff Brantley on BBTN was talking about how JM early in the season used Koch too much. He also said something along the lines of "Jerry Manuel was just rotating his players too much and they really never knew what to expect from him on a daily basis". Obviously he has become nationally renowed for his tinkering skillz.

I don't think there is much to gain in trading him this year if we are still in the race. Even if he sux all year, he is a proven playoff stud and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a playoff start. I still get the feeling he will turn it around and I agree Sandy catching him is probably a big help.

OK but one must admit that based on our performance this year, especially against Detroit, there was a large chance of us losing this game. That's about how I feel. Although there really is no reason to believe JM will be fired, even if there is a no-hitter. Most likely the Sox will get a meaningless hit followed by a double play sometime in these last 3 innings.

Also it was the first time I got to see Mark B. pitch. It is amazing how dominant he can be when he is hot like this. He is really one of the most dominant young control pitchers in the game.

Jerry's new "set-lineup" strategy has got us 16 runs in 2 games. I know, I know, it's Detroit. But we only scored 3 in Detroit last week.
