  1. It was great to have Paulie up and he was "dangerous" as Hawk likes to say tonight. He's hitting less weak grounders and alot of flyouts that are lineouts instead. His head is up and the other team is gonna think twice about walking someone to pitch to him for the rest of the year.
  2. I am a bad luck charm if u look at my sig you can tell. Hopefully your good luck will be able to counter me as I will also be in attendance tonight.
  3. I just thought it was kinda sad Koch had to give up that one run and we lost 10-9. Maybe it is time to feel sorry for this guy, but there is no excuse for sucking this bad and claiming you aren't injured. He is hurting this team big-time.
  4. This organization constantly settles for budget talent, yes-men, and players with friendly agents. We have one of the worst owners in sports who mistreats his players (Cameron and Fisk etc.) and complains to his own fans. s***tines pervades this organization but it starts at the top.
  5. If I can get a bobblehead we'll see how crappy it is. Also if PK gets traded it might affect my desire to keep it.
  6. Way to score 9 on a night the pitching staff gives up 10. Look for a 3-1 loss tomorrow or something on that order.
  7. Update: we now need to go 45-22 to get 90 wins. It will be fun to see how high the necessary winning percentage gets for this team to win 90. Currently at .672
  8. Words can not express how f***ing pathetic that is. There really is no excuse for that ever.
  9. It is very rare that a Sox team looks this good on paper. For the team to blow this type of opportunity and not even fire the manager midseason is just pathetic.
  10. We can either have a good team on paper with no heart that wins maybe 80 games. (2003) Or a cheap team on paper with lots of scrappy guys that can win about 80 games. (1999) I know which one JR prefers. Doesn't matter to me since they all suck.
  11. If we get swept in 4. JR might slightly consider hiring a new manager. Most likely we will lose the first 3 and then miraculously win in 12 innings in the 4th on a Joe Crede HR again or something. End Result: Manuel for another month.
  12. I said yes because I think the rule was stupid in the first place. It was laid down in the precedent of Landis' decision about Shoeless Joe and Cictte et. al. but I don't think he really liked them in the first place. The Shoeless Joe question is another story. There is no evidence Pete ever bet on a game he played in and I think that's the way the rule should work. I also believe there is no proof he ever bet against the Reds in a game he was managing (I'm not sure about that one). But like I said before, I believe the HOF is about baseball players and not people who bet or cheated which I think is a worse offense. Durocher is in the HOF and Sammy will be too.
  13. When will the man f***in learn?
  14. This is my first poll ever. The special on ESPN tonite with Dershowitz and Johnnie Cochran has got me all pumped up. I am a baseball purist and I believe Rose should be in the HOF. What do you think? "The man could hit, you must acquit"
  15. http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0716/1581737.html Has now played baseball in 7 different decades
  16. Does anyone even watch Reality TV anymore?
  17. Shoeless Joe. He has the coolest nickname. Also not being in the Hall of Fame makes his legacy stronger IMO.
  18. Subtle humor. I am more of a realist than some. It's just the best I can do to not sound callous when I say the number of Americans killed in Iraq has been small so far. And like most recent engagements, a large number have been killed in accidents and an ambush or two.
  19. No kidding. I can't really name one playoff contender: NY, Boston, Oakland, Seattle, Anaheim that I think this team could even win one game against. Maybe one if E-Lo pitches a CGSO.
  20. Wow, I was just checkin up on LaTroy Hawkins to say he has been dominant and all this season. Apparently he just got severely rocked in his last outing in Anaheim raising his ERA by about 0.70. I wonder if Guardado continues to struggle if they would move Hawkins back to closer. His stuff has been pretty dominant against us this year I know.
  21. I saw a special on Classic about Carlton Fisk a couple months ago. I have to say I didn't know much about this story but watching it was one of the saddest things I have ever seen in sports. This was not really a tragedy like the death of a player but it was one of the most disrespectful ways I have ever seen a player treated by a team he spent so many great years in service of. It was just embarassing to think I root for a team owned by that man, I don't even want to say his name.
  22. That is the spirit! We will be lucky to go 3-7 again.
  23. Pretty soon we will be bringing up posts that are years old. And we can see how stupid we used to be.
  24. Whenever there's a baseball team poll you have to subtract about 5-10% of the votes for Boston, the Cubs, and the Yankees. There's a few too many stupid fans for those 3 teams.
