Von Joshua, Gary Ward, Greg Walker, it seems highly unlikely to me that all 3 of these men are incompetent when it comes to coaching hitting. Still none of them could get much of anything resembling consistency out of this Sox offensive juggernaut. Some of the players have changed, the coaches have changed, maybe its time to change something else...COUGH WHEEZE JERRY MANUEL COUGH.

GM Williams Once Again Makes Idiotic Trade!
DonkeyKongerko replied to cortisonshot's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Somewhere i think baseballprimer.com they talked about the recipe for success. I know sometimes the jackola that writes these articles makes some pretty stupid remarks like about E-Lo. He had some good thoughts about success though. When he got to the Whitesox, everything on the offensive side was the opposite. He said you build a team around speed and more importantly, the ability to manufacture runs. Solid defense is huge too unless you have a staff of pitchers that can lead the league in strikeouts (see Cubs). Guys like Pat Gillick in Seattle have traded away guys like Griffey in his prime and lost a guy like Alex Rodriguez in his free agency. I think we all know the Mariners have been pretty dominant since. The Angels last year were a team that could hit and move runners alot. I believe they were near the top in steals and batting average. They had very little pop in their lineup in terms of HR power. I liked teams like the '98 and '99 Sox because they would run, hit alot, and put alot of pressure on the other team. After 2000, I think alot of the Sox realized they could beat the league by crushing the ball and ended up corpseballing their way through the 2nd half and the playoffs of that season. Since then we really have had an inconsistent offense. Even years like last year where we were near the top in runs scored, it was a very Jekyll/Hyde thing. You score 11 runs one game and 2 or 3 in the next few and you will average 4 or 5 runs per game but have a pretty sad W-L record. This year we have had even less of those 11 run outbursts and I think more people are finally realizing how terrible this offense really is. -
I'll still never understand why this show got cancelled.

No accountability with this team. Everyone is in denial. KW thinks we're the f***in 2002 Angels, Manuel thinks we're starting a 10 game winning streak tomorrow, and Konerko thinks he belongs on a major league roster.
-
Yeah although we have a losing record to the 4th place team and barely beat the 5th place team half the time. The only teams we can seem to beat right now in this division are the 2nd place team and ourselves. Something stinks in the AL Central.

I'm not down on Colon. Not when I see the statistic that this team has scored 3 runs or less in 41 games this season. Shouldn't that set off red flags, warning sirens, hells bells I don't know somewhere somebody who is a member of this organization and actually cares should see this stat glaring them in the face and have the balls to do something about it.

I believe no matter how low we sink we will somehow finish this season at .500. Hey that means we get to play the rest of the season 3 games above .500 On a side note: Who here thought that Minnesota would be under .500 on July 10th?

Its not one game of 162. It's one game that tells the story of whats happened this entire season minus about 2 weeks of great baseball. Here are some lowlights: 5-4 loss to KC White blew 4-3 corpseball loss to detroit 8-5 loss to KC Koch blew 5-4 loss to Baltimore Gordon blew 3-2 loss to Minny Gordon blew 3-2 loss to Detroit (Maroth's first win) 1-0 loss to Detroit (Knotts' 2nd win) 3 game SWEEP in Cleveland mostly corpseball 1-0 pathetic loss to San Diego (this one really pissed me off) 4-3 loss to TB Koch blew 3-2 loss to TB Corpseball 2-1 loss to Detroit corpseball 4-2 loss to Detroit corpseball (Bonderman's 3rd win) Some of these games were all on Koch. But alot of these games are games that should be won. One game tells the story of a season of uninspired corpseball losses. The list was stuck on San Diego for me until Koch blew that game in TB, that seemed to open the floodgates. How many teams that make the playoffs have a list of this many losses to teams of the likes of Detroit, San Diego, Baltimore, and Cleveland?

BA BOOOOM!!!

...and goes 0 for 4 is JM basically benching a .300 plus hitter and playing a .220 hitter in his spot so his team can have some extra defense.
-
The only people JM fires up are the umpires...barely.
-
I think losing to the Tigers no matter how well he pitches will be considered "iffy".
-
You just gotta come here and vent when they lose. Sometimes sharing the burden with others makes us worry less about how much it sucks to root for this team. Maybe we can remind you of the good times.

Anyone see Major League 3, I know it was hard to watch. I think this team should go down and play Charlotte and whoever wins best of 3 should get to be the major league ballclub. I mean the Sox barely beat Birmingham that one time. Also I think Rowand should play for the Knights when this happens cuz whoever is hitting coach there gave him his new swing.
-
If KW didn't fire JM before we went 9-3 against the Twins/Cubs, he probably isn't gonna fire him very soon after.
-
I am hoping for a JM all out assault in the dugout ala Hal Mcrae and the Devil Rays last year to be followed by a Press Conference tirade the likes of which Lee Elia hasn't seen. Right now though I don't think even THAT would shake this team up. How long will it be before D'Ang or Rios speak out about how s***ty it is to play under JR/KW/JM?

Names I have called Colon this year: Colonoscopy Kolon Fatolo Fartolo Tub of Goo Colon Cleansing Uhh well I thought I had more but I could come up with only 6. Anyways Colon isn't anywhere near the biggest problem this team has right now.

We could be 6-6 against the Tiggers after this week. I won't even mention our record against Cleveland... -
With Cy Mays apparently retired, the Sox have been holding tryouts for the next Cy these past few days.

Some nutjob threw a cherry bomb from the upper deck in Oakland and injured a kid. I think the Coliseum is vying for the top spot this year in ESPN's "Most Dangerous Stadiums". I would be surprised if BBTN regarded this event with half the seriousness of the Laz Diaz attack.
