  1. Time to start worrying about Konerko... rumors of injury and all
  2. There is a great collection at www.despair.com
  3. This reminds me of that Yankees series last year even though we didn't get swept. We got killed by the star Giambi/Bonds each time.
  4. This one hurt to watch in person. Big crowd, lots of fans and a good game. Bartolo is just cruising. I think what hurts the worst is that I can't really blame anyone for the loss. Colon did not show any signs of being tired and 100 pitch count is easy for him. I think he totally just lost focus after the Bonds homer and probably should have been yanked right after it. Would that have saved us the game? I don't know but it might have.
  5. Is it just me or is 3 mop up guys a bit high?
  6. It's always the little pickups... and I like Rivera too.
  7. Rowand, Harris, Borchard, Rowand again. Can't anyone on this team play centerfield AND hit??
  8. Joe Crede someday... if he doesn't forget how to hit. And I think people need to lay off Jiminez. That article points out how he is kind of even-keeled and unemotional at times. Tell you what, half the players on this team can be described that way including the manager and our star right fielder. Base running blunders are a thing this team is trying to cut down on but there have been plenty of others participating in this. This guy plays in the face of heavy scrutiny based on the bad words from San Diego, and I think he is proving them wrong each and every day.
  9. Not to mention the obvious overlap between talking about players on other teams possibly coming to the Sox. I think we also need a separate forum for Ex-Sox too. Can I moderate it?
  10. The sound of the ball off Frank's bat is powerful!! His level swing approach is really doing something.
  11. He failed as a starter because his stamina wasn't great. But also his arsenal pales when stretched over multiple innings. Starters have to outthink hitters and face them 2-4 times per game. They have to know how they beat a guy and try to fool him and beat him differently each time. Gagne has basically 4 dominant pitches and I think he is best suited for the relief role where you only face guys once. That said, the Dodgers have a f***in awesome bullpen. Every guy that came in: Quantrill, Shuey, Martin, even Mota who didn't pitch have some awesome WHIP numbers and OBA. Then Gordon comes on for us and walks the bases loaded.
  12. All I saw on FOX was that he is currently being held at the hospital in "serious condition". Poor guy.
  13. In the Herald today Maggs said everyone has been trying to pad their own stats. The excuse I hear from Manuel everyday is that "everyone is pressing." I think this is because this team has expectations on it. Ever since the 2nd half of 2000, when people expected something out of this team they have turned in an inconsistent performance including the disappointing ALDS. 2003 this club has had the highest expectations of them all and been the worst offensive performer. I think Jerry Manuel needs to go. He is a good manager for a young team. He took over after the White Flag debacle and the Dark Ages of Bevington and brought some light to the south side. He is good at developing young talent but I do not think he is the man to take the next step. He obviously has not taken the pressure off these players because they press every single time they are up at the plate. That's why we are so anti-clutch. P.S. KW hasn't helped him by putting together the slowest, most right-handed lineup in all of baseball.
  14. I think we are witnessing the rebirth of the Dead Ball Era.
  15. Sometimes teams win a series or two when they get a new manager. Florida has looked pretty good lately..
  16. I wasn't at that game or a Sox fan back then but I think I know that feeling you speak of.
  17. Don't look now, Rick White has not allowed a run in his last 3 appearances.
  18. And how sad it is a guy who plays for their club for 12 seasons batting .300+ most of the time and striking out 50 times or less each season means nothing to a club when they have a primadonna hitting 60 HR a year, beating his wife, doing steroids, corking his bat and, oh yeah, also striking out around 150 times a year. Actually alot of the knowledgable Cubs fans I know don't really like Sosa that much. They would rather see him get suspended so the Cubs can stop their losing run.
  19. Ok so the bats were left in Birmhingham this much we know. Now as far as I can tell Wally Backman kept those bats in storage because he thought he would be managing the big league club soon. After Gary Ward got fired, he sent them over to Greg Walker in Charlotte. Unfortunately Greg grabbed the wrong bats when he got on the plane. He claimed it was all by mistake even though there was a big C on the Sox bats for "Chicago". Last I heard, said bats were on their way to Cooperstown for further examination.
  20. I saw it and wondered if Steve Stone would say anything because it was so not even close to being a HR.
  21. Chicago White Sox: Come Ready to Play... ...once a week
  22. I had it turned off after 4 or so but I happened to turn it back on in the 9th. I got to see a rarity of us scoring 3 runs in an inning.
  23. He like alot of our draft picks has some talent but it is undeveloped. Hopefully we can trade him to a team capable of developing him, maybe Pittsburgh.
  24. LOL.."to the first 505 fans". This is some creative s***.
  25. He will fit right in with this bunch of underachievers.
