Zapata and other DSL or pre-DSL prospects
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 12:24 PM) Sanchez also draws walks, Keppinger does not. Not a very good comp. Sanchez steals bases, plays SS and 2B and has gotten better every month so far in AAA. I'm still fairly bullish on him at this point. Still think he has a good chance of realizing his potential as a MI who hits 300+ and steals some bases while playing good D.

7.8 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Sanchez on the other hand has yet to show much improvement over the course of this year. If I saw his AVG & OBP slowly climbing month by month, then this wouldn't be up for debate IMO, but right now that's not the case. He's just plained suck all year. Look at his OPS, it has climbed about 50 points every month this season with the exception of July which is an incomplete at this point. What else do you want??

7.8 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 10:04 PM) Again, I'm not writing Sanchez off by any means, but prospect rankings should always be somewhat sensitive to current performance. The fact is a prospect whose game is heavily reliant on his hit tool suddenly can't hit. Obviously we know being one of the youngest players in AAA is contributing to that, but how much remains a legit question. I think you have to bump him down a few spots in the rankings until he starts showing actuals signs of improvement. A barely 21 year old who spent less than half a season in AA gets a lot of leeway from me, especially if you check out some of his solid peripheral numbers, he has low strikeout totals and decent BB percentage all things considered. Oh, also, his BABIP is about 60 points lower than his career average at .280 right now. He's easily a year or two ahead of the development curve right now, so if we're having the same discussion about his s***ty BA/OPS next season at this time then I'll start to be concerned.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) Only way Micah would crack the Top 100 prospect is if he continues to hit like this and gets promoted to AA by the end of the year, or if he flat out dominates AFL. Very rarely would you see a 23 year old player finishing A+ considered a Top 100 player. he's only 22 which makes him totally age appropriate for the level he's at right now. Wont be 23 til december, considering how he's raking he'll almost definitely be a top 100 next year unless he falls off in the second half. Between the high BA, good XBH numbers and silly SB #'s, you absolutely have a top prospect in the making. He also plays a premium middle infield position

Phegley Up/Gimenez Gone
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) And Phegley will start tmrw with the day game after the night game... Although most of us would have preferred to see if Phegley could keep the momentum going from last night. Took Price deep for his first career HR. A little excitement for us poor fans

Let's talk about Andy Wilkins
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) I would be shocked if we ever see Andy Wilkins in a White Sox jersey. Prepare to be shocked then, he's made a very steady and deliberate climb through the system, possesses a set of valuable skills and will most likely earn a september call up this season if not next. He's put up solid enough numbers to warrant getting a chance to see if he can stick and be a bat off the bench or perhaps a fill in 1B.

Sox Will Sell; Everyone But Sale and Konerko on Block
I believe that we'd move PK to give him a chance at seeing the playoffs one last time. I expect him to end up with the Yankees as their 1B (cant remember his name) is now out for the season. No point in keeping him on the team this season, we can let some young guys show their stuff while giving him one last run at a title.

5 up, 5 down
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) And I'm not sure how Miguel Gonzalez is on the down list. I think a lot of people forgot he was still in the organization until they saw him hitting .280 in a AA box score. He's still barely a prospect, but that has nothing to with his performance recently. He's also known for his defensive abilities and having a rocket arm. Anything we get out of him on offense is just a bonus.

6/23 games: Erik Johnson debut
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 05:00 PM) Bulls***. While he is indeed all the things you say, the thing that made him great was his talent. He can locate any of his pitches wherever he wants. As Hawk says, "he can throw it through a tea cup." I'm not trying to jump on you, but he has really good STUFF. Not saying he's the next MB, I just think that pure stuff can only get you so far. I'll always take someone with average stuff and smarts over the guy with the 98 mph fastball who has no clue what he's doing.

6/23 games: Erik Johnson debut
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) but heart and moxie only can get you so far. Buerhle, he was/is all heart, moxie, and smarts. His raw stuff has always been well below average yet he's been one of the most successful pitchers in the majors over the past 13 years

6/21
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 10:50 PM) Ah, that was me, although on draft day, 85% of the reports that came out questioned his arm strength for the big league level and argued he'd be more likely to ultimately end up at 2B/CF. Obviously, he's worth more at SS or CF than 2B. Maybe he'll have a little Alexei Ramirez in him (starting in the OF, then moving back to SS), minus the brain cramps. Something in his favor is that he's young and his body has yet to fill out, possible that he improves his arm strength as he ages and his body matures, much like a young pitcher who is tall and skinny.

So....now that the major league team sucks........
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 19, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) I can;t see any way the Tigers would trade us Castellanos unless the package included Reed. I'll always trade 4 quarters for a dollar. Plus, I don't really see any of those guys coming back to hurt us too badly in the long run

Brent Morel is very quietly having a solid season in Charlotte after a slow start. I'd like to see him get another chance with the big club after we sell off assets at the deadline. He deserves it after losing last season due to injury.

Sox pickup Rockies minor league player
QUOTE (jthunder93 @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) Well, look at the Bristol roster...7 pitchers, 1 catcher (Ayala...I assume he'll get some solid playing time.), 8 infielders, 1 outfielder, and a DH (Stoner). the DH has a drug problem, well thats just great!

Question time
Hawkins deserves more than 60 or 70 ab's to show he doesn't belong in Hi A ball. Worst case scenario is he repeats the level next year which still puts him right on track to reach the majors at 22 or 23. Same with Walker at AA. Mitchell, who knows, his speed and defense may be enough to get him a part time gig somewhere. I doubt that it'll be in chicago though.

5/29 Games
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 29, 2013 -> 06:49 PM) Is he suppose to be a good fielding catcher?? He is batting .320 in AA ball. And he is only 22. That sounds promising. He has a cannon for an arm, he shuts the running game down

QUOTE (daggins @ May 16, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) Add a homer to that, his 10th. What the hell has gotten in to Josh Phegley? I hate to be the guy to bring it up, but whenever someone completely breaks out I always have to wonder if he's maybe artificially augmenting his performance if you know what I mean. I obviously hope that he's just finally gotten healthy but still... you never know.
