  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Just above average. And, in typical Jacksonville fashion, they feature a lot of old retreads who are probably slow. makes sense, J ville probably has a retard 3B coach too.
  2. Justin Greene gunned down three separate runners at home. Has anyone seen him throw, does he have a cannon or did he just get lucky tonight?
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 15, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) some don't (Liriano, Nathan, etc.). Nathan has only been back for a month and a half so lets wait til we call his career over. In addition, Strasburg had his TJS at a young age giving him a much better chance of coming back to his old form, finally it is now the exception to the rule when a pitcher doesn't return to pre-surgery or near pre-surgery form following a TJS. It is such a common surgery these days and the doctors are so good at performing it that it's just not that big a deal. Anyways, i think the previous poster's point was that the Nats sure got lucky to get the chance to draft two once a decade talents in back to back years.
  4. All right, I've been looking forward to watching him this season.
  5. We do have some players who are too old for their level but our true prospects aren't. For example, Trayce Thompson, Dayan, Danks 2, Wilkins are all age appropriate for where they're playing, you could even include Mitchell in this list if you take into consideration that he missed a year of development with his injury.
  6. QUOTE (OilCan @ May 10, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) OK, Johnnie Danks. In the last 16 ABs, only 1K. Going back to May 5th. Now I know that's only 5 days but C'MON MAN!!! That's progress. And 4 HRs, 8 RBIs too. NICE. Also for the month of May so far he has an OPS of over 1.300. Discuss. I hope that he's just coming around after a poor start, his K rate was above 40% for a while and he's simply just not that bad a player.
  7. Remenowsky faced 4 batters and struck them all out. he's gone 14.1 IP with 21K's 1BB and an ERA of 0.63. He continues to impress, not bad for a guy who went undrafted
  8. One hit on the day for Charlotte, a double by Gookie Dawkins and they get the W. Danks had a BB and Dawkins drove him home.
  9. Charlotte didn't play. Birmingham http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Winston-Salem http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kannapolis didn't play

  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 2, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Escobar went yard! Dawkins and Escobar have gone back to back twice in a row. That's gotta be some stat geek's wet dream right there, the 8 and 9 hitters going back to back on back to back plate appearances.
  12. Charlotte http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Winston-Salem http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kanny http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb
  13. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Another home run for Trayce. He's up to 4 now in 46 AB. although it's still early and he only has 50 ab's this season his walk/K per AB look better so far in addition to his growing power output.
  14. Charlotte v Norfolk http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Birmingham v Miss at 805 ET W-S v Myrtle Beach http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kannapolis v Hickory http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb

  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Petricka is almost 23. Might he be too advanced for the Sally League? He was drafted as a big time project, he's got a great arm but no refinement in his pitching so I'm not going to worry too much this season, but if he's not moving up the ladder by next year I'll be concerned.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Maybe not drill him, but a dusting is in order. I agree though i wouldn't be mad if floyd put one in his rib cage, he acted like a fool staring Sale down after that first pitch got away from him.
  18. I have gotten MLB.tv for two years in a row now, it's cheaper than Directv package, and you can watch games that are already over so I don't have to be home to watch the sox games i can watch whenever i want, thats the best feature for me, plus you skip commercials too, kinda nice, its just like a dvr
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 28, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Kenny Williams Jr. will hit .190 and get 500 at bats for the Barons. not a very bold prediction.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 26, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) I like that Bren just casually mentions breaking news in a catch-all. She scoops Mark Gonzales by about a day and thinks nothing of it.. I know, hilarious.
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Cool. If I remember correctly, his K-rate was filthy, and it was thought he was kept in the lower division just for trade value and not because they didn't think he could handle it. Hopefully, he can. He and Daniel Hudson were college teammates, drafted by us the same year and both dominated rookie ball then low-a, hudson got promoted and we traded carter away but he had crazy good peripherals in kannapolis, he just turned to s*** after the trade for some reason.
  22. Where's Cubano when you need him, maybe he has some info on this guy. Sounds like a very interesting prospect to me.
  23. Will Ohman is a "plus arm" and Gartrell is a "going to be a stud"? Pure fluff piece although I did like the analysis of the 3B situation, we do need good defense there with all the contact Burls and JD throw into.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) . You can't take anything from numbers in Spring Training. I agree. We aren't seeing all the ST games so we don't know what kind of outs he's making. Maybe he's hitting the crap out of the ball so far and just getting unlucky, these are the types of things that the coaches get to see and thus are in a better position to make a decision as to whether or not he's ready for the bigs or needs some time in charlotte to start the year.
  25. I want Sale as the closer for two reasons. 1. Thornton is great as a setup man, I'm not sure he has the mental makeup to be the closer. On the flip side I think that Sale showed he's got brass balls being brought up to the big team after a handful of minor league innings and being very successful in a pennant race. 2. Thornton has gotten by his entire career with just one pitch, the heater. He doesn't really have a GOOD secondary offering. I want our closer to have at least a second or third good pitch to turn to when the heater isn't working, Sale has these secondary pitches with his slider and changeup.
