  1. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) I'll have to disagree. Sure, maybe we look back at these past two games in a month or two and say that this is where he started to turn it around. But to call these two good games anything more than two good games is just overly optimistic thinking. We need to see Danks significantly cut his K% over a considerable period of time before we declare him "fixed". Also are we really calling 2-7, 2 HR "recent success"? He's hitting .184/.225/.368 over his last 10 games with 2 BB/12 SO (30% K%). Well after 2 months of straight suck from him any sign of a pulse is a positive which is the point that I'm making.
  2. Couple of Sox prospects mentioned in this Jason Grey blog, its insider i think but he said that Dan Hudson and Tyler Flowers are in the top ten prospects to watch for callups the rest of the season. http://insider.espn.go.com/sports/fantasy/...&id=5297705
  3. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) If hitting a home run today is going to cut his K% to I understand that it's not going to happen all at once, but he's hit a couple HR's this week and has cut his K rate down over the same period. So yes, it is possible for his recent success to indicate that he's turning a corner at the plate.
  4. Danks 2 hit his 4th HR tonight, maybe turning it around???
  5. Another possibility is that we have a deal in place to move Sweaty Freddy, just hasn't been announced yet.
  6. Christian Marrero is a BB machine. He's got 41 bb's this year to 40 k's, He has never walked a lot in his career but this season his percentages have gone through the roof.
  7. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) Does the fact that this list only has 2 drafted catchers on it mean that 1 of them definitely is not signing and the other is still undecided? Not sure what you mean by that, if i recall we've already signed the catcher from Tampa, who knows about the other one's we drafted. Are you concerned about playing time for your boy Chase?
  8. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) In all seriousness, Id like Bobby Valentine. Yeah, i'd like the one guy in baseball who is actually more insane than Ozzie. Anyone else remember when he was with the Mets, got ejected and came back to the bench with a fake mustache and glasses on? That was one of the top then funniest things that i've ever seen in my lifetime.
  9. The announcers even stated during the game when the Cubs fans were booing that it was totally fine for Beckham to be bunting considering that the game was still very winnable. Considering that they were down by just one run a, a base runner puts you right in position to steal a base and tie it with a single. Nothing wrong with what he did, i wouldn't even be mad if we did it in the ninth inning, is the team supposed to just give up and not try to win b/c Lilly has a no no going, i think not.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) Ethan Icard signs (13th round). He will report to Bristol on Wednesday. http://www2.hickoryrecord.com/content/2010...ite-sox/sports/ He was drafted by the braves last year, I always like it when we pick a player that the Braves have drafted. Shows me that maybe the kid has some talent, i respect the way the braves always have talent in their minors.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) That is an ironic statement considering the last trade that AJ was involved in... That's exactly what popped into my head when i read that.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 08:46 AM) Isn't it from something dating back to Toronto? We traded them Mike Sirotka for god knows who and it turned out that he had a bum shoulder. Toronto said that we knew about it the whole time and traded them damaged goods, we said f*** you and the horse you rode in on, do a better job with your pre-trade physicals and you wouldn't be in the situation. That's what happened in a nutshell. ah- here it is from Sirotka's wikipedia page
  13. I don't get it, is Oz pissed because we didn't draft his kid sooner??? If so, he needs to get his head out of his ass, If his kid was any better then one of the other 31 teams would have swooped him up before the 22nd round. Sounds like we did him a favor.
  14. My prediction was one month of Freddy until Hudson was in his spot, but two things happened, one Huddy started the year very poorly and two Fred has pitched very well. There was really no way the team could justify bringing up DH even after a couple shaky starts from Fred.
  15. Raise your hand if you thought before the season started that sweaty freddy would be the rock of our starting rotation.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) No, I'm very unimpressed by him. We roughed him up in Clayton's last start with the Sox. His stuff is nothing special. I thought he was highly overrated last year. His peripherals were very unimpressive and he greatly benefited from very good defense.
  17. I'd like to meet him and then punch him in the stomach. Then I'd promptly be beaten up, but my point would be made.
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) Or you could spell it beebee. Naw, it's ruined for me now.
  19. Charlotte B-Ham W-S Kanny has the day off
  20. I think that we need to keep him, he's consistently one of the best catchers in the bigs, there's only a few guys who I'd rather have behind the plate than AJ, the short list is Mauer, McCann, Martin, and Yadier Molina are the only ones i can think of who can give you close to a 300 avg and 10+ hr a year while handling the pitching staff. We've been spoiled with AJ and I for one don't want to see him go anywhere. The only real hole in his game is holding baserunners, I'll live with that.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Royals just picked Shoeless Joe Jackson's great great great grandson. (Joseph Jackson) Pretty cool. (and you douche's ) Why didn't we draft him??? He would've immediately been my favorite sox minor leaguer. We could have had Joe Jackson once again patrolling the outfield for the White Sox, that would've brought everything full circle.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) I thought you meant he was throwing walks. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) ha, so did I QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Me too. Well I guess I won't use that euphemism again.
