  1. QUOTE (since56 @ Sep 13, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) The Dybber shall live in infamy................Wonder what former White Sox Jose Canseco is up to now that he been blackballed by MLB, even though he was right along. I'd guess that whatever it is it involves lots of flexing, mirrors, some baby oil and probably a couple of hookers too.
  2. He's slumping right now, the sky isn't falling.
  3. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 07:37 AM) Not picking on you J4L, but once in a while people post similar things... and it drives me crazy... I'm going to use your post as an example to make a point. If all the Sox minor league teams finished in last place, no doubt people would comment on it as validation for their impression that our system sucks. But if a team plays well enough to make the playoffs, it's not worth commenting on? Except to announce your lack of interest as a post in the minor league forum... and question why people are interested??? The point of a forum is that it provides a place for people who ARE interested in a subject to talk about it, isn't it? So why show up just to piss in the pool and call the swimmers stupid? Plus... I would think that if you are interested in player development, that you would find this thread interesting. Successful MLB player development systems typically have minor league teams in the playoffs on a regular basis. Not only is their an obvious correlation between good players and good teams... Player development includes teaching people how to win under playoff pressure too. +1 Well put.
  4. PK, has anyone seen his wife? ... talent. I know everyone will say that Kotsay's wife is hotter, BUT, then you'd have to be Mark Kotsay and be a crap baseball player.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) This Robert Young, our 31st RD pick this year is putting together a solid rookie season so far.... 2.92 ERA, 61 1/3 IP, 52 H, 1 HR, 12 BB, 43 K, 1.70 GB/FB And he attended Dartmouth, so he has a massive brain. He's just your typical Ivy League meathead jock.

  7. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Another solid outing for Leesman. What the hell is his problem?? He was getting rocked in Winston-Salem all year and now that he's been promoted his K rate is up BB rate is down and so is his ERA.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 01:27 AM) what was the Rios story Frank told? He mentioned their time together in Toronto and how Rios used to have a bad temper and would break batting helmets by ripping them apart. I think he said that his nickname was splitter.

  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) Yikes. At least it's not a shoulder problem. There's a good chance he bounces back fine, but this is why small market teams hesitate to spend on the draft. They can't afford to miss. Way more risk in signing a 16yo dominican than a kid from the states though.

  12. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) And yet AJ is still in there with his .195 average against LHP He's probably playing so he can catch Jackson.
  13. This is an article that I found through mlbtraderumors, it's an interview with our minor league hitting coordinator. If you go all the way through there's also a link to an interview with our minor league pitching instructor and some other good links at the bottom of the page. I took the article with a grain of salt, especially the stuff about Jim Gallager http://www.thesportsbank.net/chicago-white...he-radar-names/
  14. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) Haha turf toe? That doesn't even sound legitimate. No shoulder strain, or foot contusion, or elbow tendinitis... no.. turf toe.. Ha... HAHA. Turf toe is actually a legitimate injury although it isn't super common in baseball. It also is a really crappy and painful injury to get, I've gotten it playing soccer before and it took 3 months before it stopped hurting.
  15. Great Falls lost in 15 on a 2 run walk off homer.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Very nice start for Collop. 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K. Collop has 90 K to 21 BB in 110 IP. Very nice peripherals. Needs to cut down on the hits and runs he allows though. He had a very poor start to his season but has turned it around nicely in his past several starts.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) He was probably already on the DL, it just wasn't updated properly on Charlotte's roster page. It never is updated correctly. I should have been more specific, what I meant was that they were two weeks late updating the page to let us know why he hasn't been playing.
  18. Please ignore the typo in the topic. I am not a time traveler bringing you results from sept. games, it is still July.
  19. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Charlotte- Zaleski BHam off http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb W-S- Jones http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb Kanny- Bayne http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...dnvrok_brirok_1 Bristol- Petrika G-F v. Idaho Falls at 6pm PST.
  20. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) Jordan Danks is now officially on the DL. They're only two weeks late with that move
  21. I do not want to see him taking too many AB's from Vizquel. Omar's work at the plate and awesome D have been a huge part of our turnaround.
  22. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) If he could play SS he would be. That sub .100 ISO is pretty sad. He's still young though, so maybe some power will come. Look at his slugging percentage from last year to this year. It's a marked increase and based on his numbers from past seasons I would say that he's still very much a work in progress so there is potential for him to improve. Next season will be the litmus test for him. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Jon Gilmore with a solid 5/6 day, but had an error. It is listed as his 28th error. 28!! Can that be for real? Yes, it's for real, the man is a butcher, I hope that playing 3B he has a good arm so he can be moved to the outfield if he doesn't improve his D in the next season.
