But if we could get him for a cheap minor league deal, why wouldnt we go after him? He is going be an outstanding late innings defensive replacement in the outfield or at first base, and he could probably teach Anderson some stuff. I know his numbers aren't very impressive, but he will post better numbers than Terrero or Owens.

I understand Pods underachieved, but we really don't have an alternative, so unfortunately Pods is gonna be out in leftfield and leading off for us.

Does anyone know where this guy is? I know he was in prision a while ago, but I havent heard anything about him.

It's good idea, but I just never see ARod leaving New York. ARod is probably the best player in baseball, but his expectations are too unreal. Hughes is the one prospect the Yankees refuse to trade, and Garland will never be a number 1 or 2 pitcher. He's a solid 3. Hughes projects to be a 1 or 2 starter. Plus the Yankees dont want to take on Crede and his messed up back. I'm all for this trade, but ARod is not leaving town anytime soon.

Even if he did want to come here, I wouldn't want him. All he gives us is another power bat. We need to go back to "Ozzie Ball" like we played in 2005, and stop trying to bring in power hitters that can't play defense.

what can you guys tell me about him? I didnt really pay attention to the story about him on ESPN, so I would appreciate it if you guys could fill me in...

We dont need another great arm, but we do need someone decent. Our pen doesnt need to be that good with us having 5 starters capable of throwing 200+ innings.

This was a great trade considering we arent looking to build or get younger. Vazquez has potential to be a good 2-3 pitcher. As for Garland, I say we trade him. His stock will never be higher. I know he had a great year last year, but who honestly thinks he will ever come close to those numbers again. I certainly dont. El Duque is done. He wont last more than 2 months next season. Vizcaino was decent, but nothing special. I think we can bring up Bajeneru or go out and get another reliever to replace Vizcaino. Young has been playing well, but he is a prospect. There is no garauntee on how he will do and he isnt a cant miss prospect like a Francouer or someone of that caliber. I think a lot of people who oppose this trade value prospects too highly. I also think we are still on the verge of making a big move. I really think Garland is going somewhere like Texas,Tampa or Baltimore.

He could play a variety of positions and he is prolly at the point in his career were he wants to win rather than make a lot of money....plus i dont see him getting very much money from anyone.

Nomar possibly?? he doesnt fill the outfield void, but he would be relatively cheap.

Ok...well what one player would you think would help improve our team. I know we won the World Series and all, but there is always room for improvement. I would like us to add a corner outfield-3rd base type player.

I would keep Anderson, Gio Gonzalez, Fields. I would only want to trade McCarthy if we are going to get a big improvement. I think McCarthy will use this year as a learning experience and will be much better next year.

he has done a great job and just imagine what he could do if he was actually allowed to sign a good free agent...

cotts is also doing good. i wouldnt consider him a suprise because we had high expectations for him. adkins could be a closer but i think marte or takatsu belong there now. As for Cotts, what do yall think his role should be next year: mid. relief, setup, or starter??? He has shown periods where he is dominant, but also times where he just can't get it together. I hope next year he comes out with more experience and can keep his composure a little more..

I'd say go after him although that would be tough competing with the yankees/dodgers/angels....

I would be happy to see loaiza back in a sox uniform...he was a two time all star for us in 2 years and a rotation with garcia,buerhle,contreares,loaizia, and garland would sure be a tough one to beat....

well williamson is on the dl and i think our bullpen is got enough without him

i dont think we have a problem with the lack or power production on this team
