  1. Girl I went to college with on FB is volunteer bartending at some Sox event tonight. She said she has no clue of any of the people/players or even how baseball works. Pretty much all us guys are jealous and then she replies to one of the guys "Thanks haha do you know Ken Williams? Cus he is currently at my bar."
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 07:14 AM) Why does that bother you? You're not going. Pearl Jam still has a huge following. My cousin has been in their Ten club forever. Calm down, I didn't say it "bothered" me, I was just confused why that was appealing.
  3. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 08:27 AM) Dick Stuart may have been one of the worst fielding 1Bmen who ever played the game, thus his nickname. Ok gotcha. I read his nickname as "Strangleglove" and wasn't sure if it was a good thing or bad thing.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Yep. And the Pioneer League is usually a hitters league. What he's doing is a very good sign. So you're thinking he's going to face better hitters in the Pioneer League than the Carolina League?
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 10:26 PM) I don't know, there were a ton of fans there with shirts from the early 00's and late 90's. They still seem to be going strong. On a related note, the GF got me tickets for my birthday. We went last night, sat int he "front row" of the 500 level. Of course because it's Wrigley, there was a beam in front of one of our seats, which was NOT labeled on the StubHub ticket. It ending up not being a big deal at all, we stood the whole time so it didn't get in the way ever a little bit. HOWEVER, the GF was bored this morning and decided to call StubHub, just to see if she could get anything of them. They gave her back 75% of her purchase because the tickets didn't say their was an obstruction. With the credit to her account, we just paid 28 bucks to sit in better seats tomorrow (tickets are cheaper because it's the 2nd show and it's a Monday). So all in all....a huge win. Wait....so you're seeing the exact same show, twice within a 3 day span, at the same venue??
  6. QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) Zangari has the glove of Dick Stuart, a 1Bman known as Dr Strangeglove back in the 50s and early 60s. Almost none of those words make sense to me.
  7. By the way, other players did play today! Engel - 3/4, 3B, SB. He's had a great weekend. And then that's the end of the list of players who played today.
  8. For the love of god, sent him to W-S already. I start to freak out every 5 days, and then I remember he is way more talented than anyone he is pitching too. He needs a challenge.
  9. Solorzano, Pano, and Rocha combined for a no-hitter! Solorzano - 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8K Pano - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K Rocha - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB Zangari hit an oppo-taco. He's heating up. 4 HR in his past 10 games, 15 on the season between GF and Kanny. Still just 19 years old.
  10. This is what KATOH system tries to do, right? Take statistics over pedigree/scouting reports?
  11. Call finished 0-4, K. Remy finished 3/4, 2B Booker is 0 for 1, BB, SB. Solorzano has 4 hitless IP, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K so far.
  12. Collins gets on the board with a 2-run HR, an apparent moonshot.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) I think we'll have a huge losing streak before it's over. I'd say something like a 2-10 run. My guess is we win seven games in September. Where will that put the Sox in the draft? 7th. It will put the Sox at the 7th pick in the draft.
  14. http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Burdi pitched 2 scoreless innings, 2 H, 5 K. Now has 13 K in 7 IP in Charlotte. 42 K in 29 IP overall in 2016. Engel - 1/2, HR, BB. 2nd consecutive day with a HR, he also made an awesome catch to rob a HR a couple days ago. Collins - 0/5, RBI, K in 1 1/2 games so far today. Call is 0/2 so far, Remy is 1/2 so far.
  15. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 11:36 PM) In case you missed it(and I wouldn't blame you for doing so): Anderson's Moon Shot http://m.mlb.com/cws/video/topic/8878818/v...-pole/?c_id=cws It hit about 10 feet from the top of the pole. Not bad.
  16. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Im pretty pumped for Mafia 3 in 2 months. That's one of them. NHL 17, Mafia 3, Watchdogs 2, Planet Coaster.
  17. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Didn't devalue him. Wanted to trade him when his value was at a premium. Still do. Buy low, sell high works a lot better than the Williams/Hahn buy high, sell low approach. Yet he has already well surpassed his 2015 value, so you would not have been selling him at the right time. He has a chance at 6 WAR, which is considered MVP-discussion level.
  18. Just a couple more months until I will be jumping back in to video games. Haven't bought or wanted anything since The Division, but this fall there are like 3 or 4 games I will strongly look in to and it's overwhelming. lol.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 01:59 AM) You said you owe it to the fans to play your best players. But the fans will benefit the following season. This season means nothing. It's over. Sit Sale the final six weeks and he'll be so ready next spring. Same with Q. Why pitch him? The fans don't want to see him get no run support. It'd be better to just rest him. Meanwhile, other guys get to pitch, and lose, and again, it helps get a better draft pick which the draftniks want even though many of our picks have been busts. Frankly it'd be smart to rest these players for the reason I suggested: Sale, Q, Robertson, Rodon, Shields, Abreu, Eaton. Send Avi to the minors to work on his game and ditto Anderson to learn how to take more pitches. I don't think the fans would care at all. This season is beyond fans caring. Anybody coming out to the Cell will be coming out no matter who is playing for the Sox. Everybody benefits. The draft people will be happy and the ones who think we can contend next year will be happy we are resting Sale and Q. Feel free to comment on the other 67% of my points too...
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 01:05 AM) Yes but the draftniks want us to lose every game. So why don't those same draftniks want to rest Sale, Q and Robertson? I don't get it. You want us to lose but this could help the team even more in the future than getting a better draft pick. I guess I'll just copy and paste my reply until you figure it out? QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 15, 2016 -> 04:04 AM) Because 1) you owe it to fans to play your best players, 2) They are trade candidates, unless you feel like their value is over-inflated and you don't to hurt that value, but allowing them to throw 200+ IP helps prove durability in trade value, and 3) they are both award eligible and I would love to see them get that recognition.
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 16, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) You also owe it to the players. Well right, but I was answering his question from a fans perspective.
  22. Brandon Quintero having a nice game for AZL Sox. 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K. 13 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 K so far. He is 22 though.
  23. With the White Sox loss tonight, they still have the 12th pick. 1 GB of the Rockies for the 11th pick (Assuming game is rained out, 0.5 if Rockies win, 1.5 GB if Rockies lose) 1.5 GB of the Phillies for the 10th pick. 14.5 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick.
