QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) You're right, because if the NL loses, the Cubs get a DH to bolster their lineup for an extra game in the World Series. That's assuming a lot, of course. The Cubs couldn't really lose this game. Might be one of the dumber things I've seen on here in a while.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 01:09 AM) http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-03...uit-cubs-figure 5 years/$6 million....lots of hype!!! About the same as the Bonifacio and Beckham signings. Actually, even at that time, the perception was that it was an overpay and it was doubtful he would even make the majors...in the aftermath of all those signings like Soler and Puig, the market for all things Cuban quickly overinflated. Maybe it was worth it just for the resulting publicity, because that money for Boni and Beckham wasn't noticed by anyone but die-hard Sox fans on page 22D, buried in the sports section. Why do you keep comparing the cost to add a major league player to a major league roster to the cost of signing bonus for an international prospect? Those are different markets...

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 12:46 AM) I expect Caulfield and GreenSox to complain about this deal for at least 3 years. Just for fun.... Cubs major international signings ($1M+ bonuses) Luis Acosta - $1.1M - Out of baseball Mark Malave - $1.6M - Out of baseball Kyuji Fujikawa - $1.0M - Out of baseball Juan Paniagua - $1.5M - 26 years old and a nearly 6 BB/9 in AA. They have signed many more over $1M, but a lot of them are either too young to consider busts yet. But I saw like 20-25 players since 2011 they have signed for $1M+, and that includes a year that they got penalized to stay under $250K. When you are breaking the rules and loading up on the best INT'L talent, you are going to hit on a few of them. So far, they are.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Gerardo Concepcion - $7M Wow I totally forgot about Concepcion. That dude was HYPPPED up. Just looked up his numbers. He's f***ing TERRRRRRRRRRIBLE.

Frazier participating in HR Derby
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Todd Frazier doesn't continue his "nearly" 50 HR pace in the 2nd half....this is your thread to complain about the HR derby screwing him up somehow. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) I bet he makes the next start for Rodon,n then moves to the bullpen. This pleases me.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) gave me 1.1KM this morning The game keeps freezing on me when I catch something. The scene when the ball confirms "Gotcha", seems like 1 out of 4 times i have to reset. Which really sucks because it counts the ball used Check your Pokemon, you should have still captured it. Happened to me a few times too.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) lol i just turned my app on while driving to work for a 5KM walk You got a slow commute? I think it stops registering at like 25 or 30 MPH.

I got a rare egg that requires 10 KM of walking to hatch. f***, guess I'm talking the dog for a walk today before work. lol

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) Kim Contreras @FireLeagueKim 4m4 minutes ago Chicago White Sox Spring Training Complex OMG. Luis Curbelo with a GORGEOUS swing connected to send one over the fence in LCF. The kind you hear and don't have to see. Gone. 6-3 Sox Here is video of the HR that Kim was gushing over.... https://twitter.com/luisc1123/status/752387604784394240 Wish the video would have stuck with the ball, but that ball was absolutely smoked.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) I'm kinda drunk. But did he say anything that was incorrect? In fact, I wouldn't even give them credit for Russell. He spent 61 games in their minor league system, 180+ in Oakland's. But honestly, just graduating all those other guys is quite impressive on it's own, even if Soler and Baez and Contreras and Almora only turn out of be average major leaguers or role players.

David Robertson is a fantastic closer
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I knew his ERA was grossly inflated due to non-save situations, but I didn't know the exact numbers. Nice to finally see them. -
QUOTE (South Sider @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) Theres a pretty major bug with gyms right now called 1HP bug. It needs to be fixed. That has to be what I encountered because the other guy had 1 HP, I had maybe 2 or 3 HP, but nothing happened.

Through 1 inning, Booker has 2 SB. Now has 9 SB, 0 CS on the year. Hitting .362 in AZL.

Alec Hansen, 2 IP so far, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K. EDIT: 2 more Ks for a perfect 3rd. 3 IP, 1 BB, 6 K.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) So ended up choosing the initial brown Q7 that I ordered, rather than the black one. Love how it turned out. Man, Audi's are so damn sleek. I've been trying to convince this girl I am talking to in to getting one of those instead of the Jeep Grand Cherokee she wants so bad. The one she wants is about $50K.

I still largely have no idea what I am doing. Happened to stumble across a gym today. My only option was to fight some guy who was the leader? He ended up pretty much destroying all my Pokemon, as I had no idea what to do and I have never leveled up a single guy yet. It finally got down to my last guy, we each had a sliver of health left, the timer ran out, but nothing happened. I continued to attack for about a minute straight, but nothing landed and he stopped attacking me. Had no idea what to do, so I tried fleeing, but it didn't change anything. Ended up just force closing the game. No idea what the result of that was. Are my guys dead? This game badly needs a tutorial.

I have to say....I am LOVING the control out of some of these starters we have in the lower level. Many guys with 20+ Ks to 5 or less walks.

We HAVE to start stealing on these guys....they are giving away free doubles and we aren't taking them. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Pathetic to give up so many homers to this team Recently the Braves were on pace for something like 60 HR as a team this year. They have hit...what...6 so far in 1 1/2 games? -

Melky Cabrera just pushed a HR over the wall....probably would have hit the top of the wall......great. EDIT: Nevermind, he just whiffed on it. The deflection I saw was on the top of the wall. -
