  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Johnnies is my favorite beef, but Portillo's isn't bad, and a combo at Luke's is a treat. Best beefs ever where at the now closed Jimmy's in Arlington Heights. Portillos and Pops are my favorite.
  2. I would like to see us go after Kole Calhoun. Even though his defense have been apparently down, the dude is still on pace for a 3.5 WAR season for the 3rd straight year. Lefty, 20 HR bat, normally plays a good RF, below average K rate, is walking about 9% in addition to hitting .283. Problem is that he is under team control for 3 1/2 more years. Only a "problem" because it drives his price up due to the fact that the Angels had no real reason to need to trade him.
  3. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) Another big night for Alex Call who reached base 4 out of 5 plate appearances and homered. He's about due for a promotion. He has 13 BB to 11 K. Hell, he has 12 RBI to only 11 K. The only thing he's failed at in rookie-ball is stealing bases. Only 3 for 7, but he can learn the technique as he moves up the rungs. I hope he's in Kanny by the ASB.
  4. Contacted someone who was at the GF game and he asked a couple people who were at the game for velos on Pano. One said "Probably 93-95" and the other said he saw the gun a few times and it showed low 90s. In addition to being friend's with his cousin, I just found out one of my buddies went to college with him. He said he throws a 12-6 curve and he thinks a slider and change. Said control was always his strongsuit.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) Oh god this reminds me of the days of him and Rangel Ravelo being our food themed prospects. But really, Saladino has been awesome. He's a perfect supersub. Don't forget Brent Morel.
  6. Adam Pano with a very nice game for GF 7 1/3 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
  7. Call went 0/2, but he did have 3 BB. But he got CS for his 4th time in 6 attempts....that's not great.
  8. Collins or Senzel, that's the 2016 draft race to an MLB batter's box.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) *Insert Ryan Hartman* That's what I try to tell people who are emotionally invested in Shaw. It's not THAT hard to replace an attitude, and that's what Shaw was. That's what Hartman is.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Peter is a guy they've been playing all over it seems. Maybe he can be our version of Ben Zobrist one day (everyday utility player). When I think of Peter, I always think of Saladino.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) Sox 10th round pick Zach Remillard and 27th round pick Mike Morrison are playing right now for Coastal Carolina in the CWS on ESPN. Game 1 if anyone is interested. Just caught one of Remillard's at bats. Zach seems like a really well rounded player, unless the defensive highlights I've seen/heard about are misleading. 19 HR on the year and 8 singles in 8 bunt attempts.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 10:02 PM)
  13. Alex Call - 2/4, SB. CHIRP CHIRP
  14. Oh man, having Soupy back to man the PP point would be fun.
  15. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 24, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Has he been assigned yet? Probably at least a week away until he gets in a game. Hostetler wanted him to catch his breath a bit before picking up a bat again.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Has DeGrom improved lately? I know he struggled with his velocity at the beginning of the year. Maeda has been pretty solid all year. Over his last 28 days.... 32 IP, 25 H, 2.81 ERA, 7 BB, 41 K, 1.00 WHIP Yeah, he's been solid. Just isn't getting wins. Plus, he gets deeper in to games than Maeda. Maeda has only reached the 7 inning mark ONCE this year, and not a single out more. Only 4 of his 14 starts has he thrown 100+ pitches. He's averaging probably 88-90 pitches per outing. 7 of DeGrom's last 8 starts he has pitched 100+, reaching 110 at one point. Not saying it's a slam dunk, but I just feel a little better about the more established pitcher versus the rookie.
  17. Voyagers are 4-3. Only team in our organization who is at .500. Yikes.
  18. http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS Engel - 0/3, 1 BB, 2 SB Basto - 3/5, 2 RBI. Hitting .331 on the year in W-S. Jordan Stephens - 6 2/3 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K. Call - 3/3, 2 RBI (Hitting .387) Fisher - 1/2, 2 BB (Hitting .450) Schnurbusch - 2/3, 2 RBI, BB (Hitting .400) Conlan - 1/4 (Hitting .444) Roman - 2/4, 2 2B (Hitting .348) Curbelo - 3/4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
  19. About 16 seconds between release of the two pitches. Good.
  20. Got offered Jacob DeGrom for Kenta Maeda and I accepted it. The difference in pts per game is 15.1 versus 14.7 or something, despite Maeda having 3 more wins. I am banking on DeGrom getting some run support and getting more wins, plus, Maeda is a rookie so maybe the 2nd or 3rd time a team sees him, the more he will get hit. Additionally, DeGrom has 9 of 12 starts being QS. It's 8 of 14 for Maeda. Only thing that worried me was the health issues DeGrom had early in the year, but he has a longer history of success over Maeda, so I went with it.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) You guys think we'll retaliate for the 4 HBP's? Not should we, but will we In the 9th inning with 2 outs and as 5-run lead, sure.
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Tim Britton Thank you sir. My keyboard and pitchfork are at the ready.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) what caused Hawk to want blood?! Abreu got hit up high, only a few innings after he and Frazier both got hit up high last night.
