  1. I'm interested in the story because I had never heard of it until I started the season of Serial, but at the same time I'm disappointed that it's a public story with an outcome already. I wanted to hear her investigate another possibly unsolved mystery and have her crack a case. This is just telling a story about someone.
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) LOL, Fallout 4 is one of the biggest productions of the year that hundreds of people worked on for years. Meanwhile, you're willing to throw them a bone for $10, or 83% off. How generous of you. Do you buy every major production game that is released, even if it is not a type of game you enjoy or are interested in buying, simple because you feel some sort of guilt over people getting paid to work it on for years?? What a weird comment to make.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) I like this for two reasons: 1) It shows that another team thinks really highly of Anderson 2) We can stand our ground and believe in Anderson I don't like it for one reason. I have more confidence in Todd Frazier having 2 years better than the 6 years from Anderson combined.
  4. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) "Rage-filled bro"? What gives you that impression? Videos of him slamming his helmet down, punching a water cooler, huffing around enraged in the dugout answered the "rage-filled" equation. And his nickname from Oakland fans was "breh". The famous shirtless, 40oz pictures help support him being a "bro", outside of the Oakland fans calling him such. In case you were wondering, Nick Swisher was the last "bro" we had. Not quite as rage-filled though.
  5. That being said, Watch Dogs was a really cool game with a really fun, unique idea. However, the story was just garbage and the main character was unlikable. Both things they can easily fix if they make a sequel. Also, Chicago was awesome to cruise around in.
  6. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) I'm finally getting around to playing Watchdogs and I'm finding it quite annoying that other players can come in and interrupt my game while I'm playing. I've never been a big fan of the online play for open world games. I tried it a little bit on GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption but didn't really like it. But at least those games gave you the choice of when you did and didn't want to play with other players. There's so much other stuff to do and I get so little time to play that I simply don't have time to mess around with someone else. So I finally just shut off the internet connection. Problem solved. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Yeah, I found this pretty annoying, too. From a gameplay standpoint it wasn't that bad, but it didn't always work. But as you said, I'm doing s***, leave me alone. I did like that game though. There is an option to turn it off...right in the game options. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/05/27/tu...ox-playstation/
  7. Played Fallout 4 for a couple hours at a friends house. Thought it was pretty cool. Still not my type of game, but if I were to get it for free or like $10 on some Steam sale, I probably would play it.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:53 AM) You sure? There's been almost zero buzz around him. I know the OF market is waiting on Heyward but Cespedes would at least be getting some interest you would think. The guy always seems to find himself in the postseason (except that time Beane dealt him for Lester) and guys around him in the lineup seem to play better with him around. He's a true middle of the order bat and I'm thinking he could be had for a lot less than Gordon and Heyward, neither of whom are the offensive player Cespedes is. I can't imagine he gets less than $150M. And if he does, then it will be at at least a $25M AAV. So basically, 5/$125 is about the lowest I can see him getting in terms of years and money.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 01:48 AM) It's more like none of us see any universe where the Reds make that deal. Yeah, I get that....yet no one is actually providing any points or support behind their reasoning... The reason I could see the Reds not doing that is because Eaton is either too old for their window, and they want guys more in the 23-25 year old range, or because they want a collection of prospects over 1 current major leaguer. As far as value goes, I don't see much of a reason for them to have the type of extreme reactions people in this thread have had.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) Well there was a lot coming from Arizona about him when we go him. Eaton is far from the cocky, rage-filled "bro" that Lawrie is. Just because they were both thought to be annoying to their teammates doesn't mean they were annoying for the same reasons.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 11:28 PM) What the hell are you torn about? Well obviously Frazier is a great get. But Bruce is a salary dump at this point. But when you factor in Frazier has only 2 years of team control at about $20M, and Eaton has 6 years of team control at $41M, I think it starts to balance out tremendously. Frazier was a 4.4 fWAR player. Eaton was a 3.6 fWAR. Frazier was a 4.0 bWAR player. Eaton was a 3.9 bWAR. Steamer projects Frazier at a 1.0 higher WAR than Eaton in 2016, while getting paid 3x as much. I assume the outrage here is not the overvaluing of Frazier, but rather the undervaluing of Eaton and his tremendously team friendly deal. I mean, Eaton earned more than HALF of his entire contract just in 2015 alone. Frazier is providing surplus value over his contract as well, but for only 2 more years, at at age 31 and 32. Eaton will be 28 and 29 over those same seasons. THAT is why I was/am torn on it still.
  12. No idea why, but I just had a weird daydream/vision in my head of the Sox trading Adam Eaton for Todd Frazier, Jay Bruce, and Jumbo Diaz. I can't decide what my reaction would be to this. In one instance, we get a great 3B and and a nice arm in the pen. But, we also get Jay Bruce, who although has a ton of power, is such a liability in the OF that he is really a DH candidate at this point. Wouldn't be thrilled about losing Eaton, but I guess Trayce gets a chance in CF and Bruce is still an upgrade over Avi in RF, especially if he bounces back to what he used to be. Maybe we sign a Cespedes then for CF. Anyway. Since we don't have a catch-all, I guess random stuff like this is supposed to get it's own thread. Thoughts? I'm truly torn.
  13. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) OF Yoenis Cespedes 4y/$80m SS Ian Desmond 1y $8.5m Erik Johnson to Red Sox for 2B Brock Holt 1 Adam Eaton CF 2 Ian Desmond SS 3 Jose Abreu 1B 4 Yoenis Cespedes LF 5 Brock Holt 2B 6 Brett Lawrie 3B 7 Melky Cabrera DH 8 Trayce Thompson RF 9 Navarro/Avila C Avila, Garcia, Sanchez, LaRoche (so stupid he has to be on the Sox still) off the bench. Pitching is the same. You can go ahead and double that price for Cespedes, and add a few years.
  14. Anyone else think his swing is a mash of Gordon Beckham and Javier Baez? Or just me?
  15. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) Actually I think Taco has remained pretty consistent, but otherwise agree. It's time for it to end. Outside of two good episodes in October, this season has been a dumpster fire. How anyone thought the episode where animated Rafi and Dirty Randy go to Puerto Rico was a good idea is beyond me. Has anyone though? Everyone I know who watched it thought it was horrible. Yeah, bad season overall. The DraftKings s***...oh my god, how much did they pay for a SEASON LONG advertisement that had a recurring plot in the show? That was so distracting.
  16. Welp. Didn't want the player, but can't be mad at the price. We gave up nothing of significance, and no one interesting that I would have wanted to see pan out. Seeing the price, I'm ok with this. Only makes us slightly better, but at least it was at no real cost at all.
  17. Davis was totally worth $25M a year last season, EASILY. The problem is, what if he has another year like 2014, where he was awful? He would scare me to sign for a long term.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:02 PM) If you trade Anderson to get Frazier. Sox MUST SIGN Upton. Upton, or Cespedes, or Gordon, yeah. You obviously can't half ass it when he only has 2 years left.
  19. Anderson isn't a can't miss guy. People still question his defense and his ability to make contact. Not worth denying all-star worthy talent to keep.
  20. Williams was very open about rebuilding and reloading their minor leagues. Said Frazier is available for sure, but they don't want to move Votto. Garfein just tweeted that the Sox are in on Frazier, but price is too high (Obviously. If the price was just right, a deal would be made).
  21. Dick Williams on MLB Network right now. Going to announce a Frazier to White Sox trade. I wish.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Not when we have as many holes as we do. If Frazier was one of the final pieces to put us over the top, then yeah sure trade Anderson for him. But he's not. You're right, but if you can get Frazier and Phillips, and then sign Upton or Cespedes, this team will look like a contender.... L - Eaton R - Phillips R - Abreu S - Melky R - Upton/Cespedes R - Frazier L - LaRoche L/R - Navila R - Saladino I mean, that's a pretty formidable line-up. Then when you consider how good our rotation is, I think we are immediately a 86-88 win team. The only problem I see there is that would add about $45M in payroll ($23-$25M for Upton, $13M for Phillips, $7.5M for Frazier) for 2016. However, Danks and LaRoche come off the books for 2017, so that's $27M off the books. I think it's doable.
  23. Frazier has put up over a 9 WAR over the past 2 seasons. He's a solidly above average defender. He takes more walks than Lawrie, he strikes out less. He hit 35 HR last year. Todd Frazier is a damn all star caliber player and he's not even 30. I don't give 2 flying fudgesicles that Brett Lawrie is a "grinder" and he "plays mean" or whatever. The dude sucks. If we had Lawrie, we would be trying to see if he could upgrade over him right now. He's Gordon Beckham without the fun personality. HE IS NOT GOOD.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) Are you kidding? You'd rather trade Anderson or Fulmer for 2 years of Frazier instead of a lower level guy for Lawrie? Anderson, yes. Because Frazier is actually a good baseball player. He is a major upgrade. Lawrie isn't a good baseball player. He may not even be better than Saladino at 3B over a full year. Brett Lawrie shouldn't excite ANYONE.
  25. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) I'm still confused how anyone can look at the Sox history & see what they currently have at 3B & say they don't want Lawrie. At the right price, this could be a very nice add. That or give up your #1 overall prospect for 2 years of Todd Frazier. Or sign a "stop gap" with no one really down in the minors to develop. I would rather trade our #1 prospect for 2 years of Todd Frazier than simply acquire Brett Lawrie for free. He's not good. We can only hope he becomes average one of these years. And then there is the baggage and personality that comes along with it.
