QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) Why? They just traded a boatload of prospects for a closer. Is this the Boston Harbor? How many boats do you think they got?

My LG G4 just randomly stopped working. I would REALLY like to recover my photos/videos off it and hopefully create a backup file. No idea how I didn't set up an automatic back-up file to be saved to the MicroSD card, I really hate myself for it. It powers on the boot loop, sometimes gets to the ATT logo, and then turns off. So upsetting.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 17, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) People on here were saying they'd offer 2 years and almost 20 mill for him. He's expected to sign for 1/$5 mill haha Rabbit said 2 yrs/$16M. I had originally said I would offer him 1 yr/$7M. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 01:23 AM) Or Rick Hahn can be extra Slick Rick and go throw a 1 yr/$7M deal at Rich Hill. The ghost of Rich Hill emerged for 4 starts at the end of 2015 w/ the Red Sox. He put up a 1.1 WAR with a K/9 over 11 and a BB/9 at 1.55. Dave Cameron said he has absolutely NO IDEA what kind of deal Rich Hill is going to get. Says he has certainly caught interest suddenly, but has no idea if he could get something like 1 yr/$4M or 1 yr/$12M. He says it will be probably get a 1 yr deal, as teams are unsure and Rich Hill wants to prove he's worth more. He signed with the A's for 1 yr/$6M. He was NEVER going to get a 2 year deal.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) You can buy a 30 dollar plastic Google cardboard and just use your phone. That's how the Gear VR works too, by sliding your phone in to it.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) With something like that you really have to worry about the support it gets. I'm sure the technology is really cool but how many options do you get? So far the only one the guy there knew of was Netflix.

I tried Samsung's Gear VR powered by Oculus at Costco. It was actually pretty cool, and for $100 I can see it being pretty well sold.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:15 AM) i really hate to say this, esp on any sox prospects / players. but have him do a blood test. his results this AFL are superhuman bordering on herculean | god like results. Lol, he's just making a ton of contact, and his incredible speed earns him many infield hits and stolen bases, not to mention he is taking walks. It's not like the guy is suddenly slamming home runs. He's just making contact at an awesome rate, and not chasing pitches. Not quite your typical red flags for cheating (although I realize better contact skills are a result of PED).

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) The Sox have the #10 and #33 overall picks. And those 3 players accepting their QO pushed our 2nd RD pick 3 picks better than we had thought.

Should the White Sox and Rockies talk trade?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) How about: Sox get CarGo, LaMahieu and McMahon Rockies get Montas, Erik Johnson, Micah Johnson, Avi and Trey M. I would do that deal, but I don't think the Rockies would. There is no high-floor player in that group. Some nice ceilings in there, but nothing you can count on becoming an average major leaguer. I don't think they would give up 2 currently producing major leaguers, and a top prospect, for a bunch of "could be good" type guys. I mean, Erik Johnson is the surest player they get back, and he was GARBAGE pretty recently. -

Should the White Sox and Rockies talk trade?

Not a big fan of that Dickerson trade. I mean, we don't give up a ton, but he also showed a lot of reason to be cautious about Dickerson. I love the LeMahieu (sp?) deal, which is probably why the Rockies wouldn't make it. The Cargo deal seems fair if the Rockies toss in $8-10M to go along with CarGo. -
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) I don't get why you keep saying this. The Sox will sniff around players who rejected the QO. Whether or not they sign one...probably not, but you seem to think they won't even consider those types, and I think you're wrong. The teams who have a top 10 protected pick should be the MOST aggressive on players who were offered QO's. It's the teams that would have to give up a 1st RD pick that should be very very afraid. If anything, Weiters market should have been very small for us.

Weiters just accepted his QO. So scratch him off nearly everyone's catcher wishlist.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) I agree that we should trade with Arizona, but you're definitely underrating Pollock. Explain. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Would you guys do a Frankie Montas and filler for CarGo, Q for Andrelton Simmons at SS, and sign one of Upton or Cespedes?? I wouldn't do any of those things.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) They do have a hole at 1B. LaRoche has had more success in the NL, and on a 1 year deal, if he does well, they can flip him at the deadline. And like you said, it balances out the money. But if they are going to be selling off assets and rebuilding, why would the take on $13M of a dead money and take up a position from a young player who could use the experience? I am willing to bet they would rather just send over $10M than take LaRoche and his $13M. Unless they truly think they can flip him in July for a couple of prospects.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) LaRoche, Montas, Micah Johnson, and Beck for CarGo and Lemahieu? I would do that, but I don't see what interest they would have in LaRoche, other than just not having to send over any money in the deal I guess.

ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Bigsoxhurt35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since I made an FA prediction, I will now make a trade prediction. Nothing too specific, but I really do think we match up with the Dbacks very well. We give them a pitcher, Quintana or Erik Johnson, and we get one or more of their extra OF and 3B/SS types. I would love Inciarte or Pollock (Pollock for Quintana straight up maybe) , maybe Peralta if those were not available, and Brandon Drury really interests me as well. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) I'd do an EJ package. I wouldn't give up Montas for him though. Too many question marks even though hes my favorite non Sox player. I look at it this way...... if Cargo was a Free Agent right now, would you offer him 2 yrs/$37M deal? If not, then you certainly don't sign that deal AND give up players to the Rockies to do it. If you would do that deal, then what players would you be willing to relinquish to sign that FA deal? Or maybe you use the idea that the Rockies would kick in some cash, maybe $10M. Would you sign him for 2 yrs/$27M? If yes, then what players would you be willing to give up to secure that contract. That's basically how I'm trying to rationalize a trade for Cargo, and can pretty much be applied to any trade with significant contract coming back.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) What the hell does that mean? Lol Well it's translated poorly, but you can tell he is hinting at Cargo to the White Sox as part of a deal around Frankie Montas. And the hashtag was a reference to his 100MPH fastball. Maybe the Rockies covet his arm.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) This was some guy on twitter earlier…. JOSE C GASTELUM @gastelumcharlie 17m17 minutes ago Rumores: Carlos González podría estar llegando a @whitesox y unas de las razones es Frankie Montas #100Millas This is translated: Rumours: Carlos González may be coming to @whitesox and one of the reasons is Frankie ride #100Millas He's been tweeting other rumors that I haven't seen. Might be all made up. CarGo is such a weird player. He has some average years, some above average years, and some all-star/MVP years. Or like last year, an awful year. He is due $17M and $20M. Totally worth if it he goes back to his great years, a total sunk cost of he is like he has been the past 2 years. So it's hard to figure if the Rockies are looking for a salary dump move, or are trading him with the idea that he is is more of a 3-4 WAR player. It's hard to even guess on what it may cost to acquire him because I have no idea how the Rockies even view him at this point.

Zimmermann, 5 yrs/$110M. A bit of an overpay, but that's free agency, especially with pitchers. But 5 years lines up with the 2020 year that a lot of our contracts seems to be ending right around.
