  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) I'll take the 2015 technology over the 1990 technology every time, except for canned music over the organ, and the videos telling me to get loud, and the deal where the guy says, everybody clap your hands. But to each his own. The fact is, it won't be long before these scoreboards become dinosaurs as well. They are probably bigger and better than the State would have installed had they approved them any of the past several years. It will be interesting to see what effect it really has on the game experience. I went to the Bears game vs. Arizona, and those new boards are nice. I don't think the old ones were HD, but most of the time, except for replays and some dead ball time, they had ads on the sides so it looked the same size as the old boards. It will be interesting to see how they use all 3 of these. I love the new video boards, especially the one in CF. I am referring SPECIFICALLY to the pinwheels on top. How does them being digital enhance the fan experience in any way? I guess because they can make them spell out HOMERUN???
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) They are still there, just digital, and better than white lights going around those old ones with half of them staying on after a home run Lol, I understand that they are being replaced by digital versions, and I think it's awful. The only redeeming quality about them is that they can change to form words.
  3. How am I the only one who is disappointed that the pinwheels will be gone? Those are f***ing iconic.
  4. Tried the Rainbow Six Siege beta. Couldn't even walk around properly without lag jumping my guy around the map. Never saw an enemy before I got disconnected. It's probably just my s*** internet, but either way, I'm not even going to bother trying it again.
  5. I'm selfishly hoping he doesn't do it until Sunday, when I'm there, but I also don't want to risk it, so I am hoping he does it any day now.
  6. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) Avi needs to go I wouldn't say he "needs to go", but I think this was finally his chance to show us he was going to be a stud, and he flopped. I'd be more than happy to upgrade in RF.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) I honestly have no idea how Trevor Noah got this gig. I want to like it, but all of the fun of The Daily Show is gone. It feels acted, now. Right, because I'm sure Jon Stewart's first episode was a rousing success. This is still under the umbrella of a baseball website, so I will therefor use "sample size" as my official response.
  8. I was counting down the days until Seabrook was gone, and now we have 8 more years of him. Son of a b****.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 01:02 PM) Oh, for sure. He has put up a 2.0 WAR in 139 IP. Adjust that for a 200 IP year next season, and that's about a 3 WAR without accounting for ANY improvement. But we have already seen improvement out of him as the season has gone on. His 2nd half versus his 1st half splits..... 1st half - 66 IP, 3.80 ERA, 8.95 H/9, 9.22 K/9, 5.56 BB/9, 1.65 K/BB, 1.61 WHIP 2nd half - 73 IP, 3.70 ERA, 7.89 H/9, 8.75 K/9, 3.69 BB/9, 2.37 K/BB, 1.28 WHIP Not a drastic improvement (other than BB/9), but it's steady improvement. Now you in to it even further and look at his numbers since August 11th...... Aug 11th - 54.2 IP, 1.81 ERA, 6.25 H/9, 8.07 K/9, 3.45 BB/9, 2.34 K/BB, 1.08 WHIP I would say this has been a great rookie campaign for him. Probably a top 3 ROY pitcher in the AL. I would feel confident saying he could become a 3.5 to 4 WAR pitcher next season, and if you count Sale with is usual 6+, and Quintana with his usual 5+ WAR. That's a helluva top 3 in a rotation. Not many teams, if any, have 15 wins out of their top 3 in the rotation. In fact, just for fun and because I'm bored.....let's look at the top pitcher teams this year and see.... Dodgers - 15.1 WAR (Kershaw, Greinke, Anderson) Cubs - 14.5 WAR (Arrieta, Lester, Kendricks) Sox - 13.6 WAR (Sale, Q, Shark) Indians - 12.9 WAR (Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar) Astros - 12.4 WAR (Keuchel, McHugh, McCullers) Mets - 12.2 WAR (DeGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard) Nats - 12.0 WAR (Max, Gio, Strasburg) Pirates - 11.9 WAR (Cole, Liriano, Burnett) Cards - 10. WAR (Lackey, Martinez, Garcia) So looks like the Dodgers got there (90% of it from their top 2). The Cubs will probably get there as well.
  10. QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 28, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Is there anybody here who wouldn't call Rodon's rookie year a resounding success? It's been really satisfying to watch. Oh, for sure. He has put up a 2.0 WAR in 139 IP. Adjust that for a 200 IP year next season, and that's about a 3 WAR without accounting for ANY improvement. But we have already seen improvement out of him as the season has gone on. 11. Has to be Rodon. He is already in the majors and has had a pretty solid couple months. It's hard to go with Fulmer when he isn't even close to the majors yet.
  12. In other news, did anyone else get their Rainbox Six Siege beta codes yet? I registered my code, but am waiting to be allowed in to the beta. The Beta is only a week long, so time is ticking...
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Damn. I don't know if I'll get it then. Yeah, that news went from midnight pick up, to "We'll see how the reviews go". I'm someone who really doesn't enjoy online play unless it's with friends. I have no interest in playing online with annoying random people who either suck, or try to ruin it for everyone.
  14. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 26, 2015 -> 08:59 AM) The only thing we know for sure is that Kane put himself in position to be accused. Yeah, if he doesn't become celibate for the rest of his life he is just BEGGING to be called a rapist...
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) I hope it has the Instant Action game mode. That was my favorite. (not online) Battlefront is 100% online. There are no offline modes, which really blows.
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Joe Maddon brings cheetah to cubs game!!!!11 Another amazing example of Joe keeping the clubhouse loose!!1! This is truly revolutionary managing!!!!111!!!!!11! He did the same things back in Tampa when he was just another manager. But no one cares about traditions that started with other teams before becoming Cubs folklore *Cough, Harry Caray*.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) This reminded me of the Emmy opening last night. Very funny, and can relate to it... Solid opening, but all I could think of was this Digital Short from SNL 5 years ago.... VERY similar style.
  18. There should not be a single person here who thinks we SHOULD NOT offer him a QO. That's just pure insanity. Now whether he accepts it or not (I don't think he would) is up for debate, but I can't imagine why anyone would say we shouldn't offer one, that blows my mind.
  19. The Bastard Executioner was really good, but holy s*** is it gruesome and gross. It doesn't bother me, but people who are easily grossed out should probably avoid it. Tons of throats slit, limbs sliced off, and a horribly sad and disgusting scene that I won't spoil. But had a very nice twist to the story to set up the show. Absolutely need subtitles on to watch this though.
  20. I like the wave, but I also like to have fun at ballgames, so I'm kind of a scumbag I guess.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Steve Rannazzisi (dude on The League) lied about being in a Twin Tower building on 9/11. Can somebody explain how this is offensive, other than you shouldn't lie? People love to be offended. Yeah, unless you were involved or personally affected by 9/11, I don't see why anyone would care. It's not like the Brian Williams thing where it lent credibility to his career and ability to be trusted as a newsperson. He's a comedian and actor. How does him being in one of the towers or not affect that at all?
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 07:59 AM) NHL 16 gameplay is much better than 15. For the Hawks specifically, it's now the United Center rather than Chicago Arena or whatever it was. Before opening faceoffs, the organ plays and the fans chant "Let's Go Hawks!". The goal horn is much more accurate. And last, but not least, Chelsea Dagger plays after Hawks goals. The announcing is still dry and annoying. I didn't get last year's version of NHL because I couldn't stand how sluggish the players were in the demo. Everyone was moving in slow motion and it didn't feel satisfying, Maybe I'll rent this year's version.
  23. I was at the game. I took video and live tweeted some stuff. I'll try to have it edited this week and I'll post the video. Long story short, Almonte was pumping some very good velo, threw a few really great sliders at 83 MPH, but missed with a ton of fastballs high and saw his slider slip out of his hand often to lefties. He left a lot of pitches away or up.
  24. New Macklemore song is great. The video is even better.
  25. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 11:54 PM) Kershaw mowed through the Cubs lineup tonight. 14 Ks. As a TEAM they strike out 24.2% of the time. Kris Bryant and David Ross strike out more than 30% of the time. Soler, Schwarber, and Russell are all close to that figure at 29.4, 28.2 and 27.9% respectively. Somehow Rizzo has his down to only 14.3%, but his has gotten worse every month. He is a touch over 20% for the month.
