  1. I would like to ask what all the mouth-breathing Romo-hating Cowboys fans think of the Weeden/Castle experience. 0-5 without Romo, yet they have been certain for years that the Cowboys have needed to "dump that bum". I can't stand idiot fans. As much as I hate to see this team suck, I hope it teaches them all a lesson not to take Romo for granted.
  2. We may not have a top 10 protected pick. So thank god we signed LaRoche.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) The Blackhawks were picked as the #2 best fan base by Forbes, trailing the Pittsburgh Penguins? Really? http://www3.forbes.com/business/the-nhls-best-fans/10/ Why wouldn't the Blues fan be #1? If Cardinals fans are the best in the world across all sports, wouldn't the majority of Blues fans be made up of those chosen-ones?
  4. I was 15 when we won it all, and I was at BW3 with my family. They were watching the TV by the entrance that was non-HD, and about 3-4 seconds ahead of the huge projection TV. They saw the final out and then spun around and stared at me, so I figured it was about to happen. The entire place started hugging and throwing beer everywhere. I printed out a bunch of Astros logos, brought them to my friend's locker who was an Astros fan, snuck a broom on the bus, and "swept" up the logos in front of his locker. I was a dick. lol.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) 180 regulation minutes without Duncan Keith. Only two goals allowed, but only three goals scored. I would imagine they have had a very conservative game plan to make sure not leave the defense high and dry down Keith.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 24, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Toews with the GWG 17 seconds into the OT 17 seconds....shut your mouth, really? lol.
  7. Derek Norris would be a real solid addition. Nick Hundley could be a really nice shrewd pick up. He is a very good defensive catcher who happened to hit .301 last year with 10 HR in the biggest pitcher's park in baseball. Hell, he even struck out 9% less than garbage Tyler Flowers.
  8. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) It's an "under construction" site with nothing on it but the logo. How does it "look weird?" I was still referring to the domain name. I find domains with numbers in them, especially at the beginning, look fake or sketchy.
  9. Who has a high priced-over paid D man that we can swap bad contracts with by giving them Bickell?
  10. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) I disagree. They are dealing with the consequences of spending over allotted/recommended money. It's like the luxury tax in basketball. You can go over it, but there will be ramifications if you do. In the end, you don't lose players nor is it considered cheating. I didn't say they cheated. Cheating is trying to get away with something WITHOUT suffering the consequences. Are you not breaking the law when you speed, simply because you don't care about paying the speeding ticket? Doesn't mean you are cheating the law, it just means you don't care if you get penalized.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) Oklahoma RHP Alec Hanson didn't participate all of fall due to forearm soreness. Candidate to go 1-1 this year in the draft. Maybe he will have TJS and fall right in that 8-12 range like we have seen the past few years.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Re: Reinsdorf and the spending limits, let's be clear that the way the Cubs and some others are doing it is not cheating. Breaking the rules implies that they have acted against them. The Cubs and their ilk are acting within the rules, which specify various consequences when you spend beyond the limit. They think it is better to do it this way and the rules allow them to. Jerry can do this as well and I would imagine the reason he doesn't do that is because it is very expensive and very risky, two things he really has never supported in terms of amateur players. They did break the rules. They just don't care about the consequences.
  13. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 17, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Illinois born Hinostroza called up to the Hawks. Baun sent down. Gotta be extremely happy for that kid. Great skill and pretty fast. Watched him a couple of years ago at the WJC. Saw him at ND a few years ago. I am pretty sure he scored a hat-trick. I was telling my family he would be a future-Hawk and to pay attention to him. Looks like I did well.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) i am eyeing a wifi extender on yugster.com for my house. anyone have any comments good or bad? is it worth the 16 bucks? https://www.yugster.com/deals/68430-high-sp...tender-repeater I just bought this one on Groupon for $42. http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC750-Gigabi...s=Netgear+AC750 This was after my TP-Link powerline adapter experiment was a total failure. I was getting 0.06 Mbps on it.....seriously..... My old Cisco G-300 was giving me around 20 Mbps, which I can live with.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 16, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) Related... a bunch of previous Baseball Prospectus guys, including one of the former co-founders (Joe Hamrahi) are starting a new prospect-focused baseball site called 2080Baseball.com. Also seems to include CJ Witt (former BP), Nick Faleris (former BP), Tucker Blair (former BP), Jeff Moore (former BP) and Mike Ferrin (XM Radio). And they threw some subtle shade at BP along the way. Clever domain name, but it looks weird.
  16. Of all those, Todd Frazier actually sounds like the best fit. I wonder if the Reds are finally ready to tear it down this offseason now that their division becoming hellacious.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Probably because of his name I always thought he was like 25. How old is he? He definitely talks like someone in his 20s. I assumed he was like 28 or 29.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 06:53 AM) My answer would be "Panarin and Anisimov." Let's say you're spot on and it's 82 points for Kane this year. If you don't think Panarin can end with 18... No, I mean how do you figure that if didn't miss any games last year, he would have reached 100 points? He was only on pace for about 85 points had he played all 82 games.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 13, 2015 -> 11:15 PM) I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago right now. Nobody talked s*** to me or anything, even the one guy who's a Cubs fan on my softball team. I had a horrible night at work. The Cubs fans were INSUFFERABLE. And I am not a Cubs hater, at all. I never talked bad about them, I never rooted for the Cardinals, I never pumped my fists when the Cardinals scored, never even said that I thought the Cardinals would win, yet nearly every Cubs fan at work came up to me "Woooo!!! CUBBIES BABY!!!!", jumping on my back (literally even). One supervisor of mine giving me the "What's wrong? Where is your team? Oh at home, because they suck" type of stuff. I just nod my head "Yeah, ok, great. It doesn't really matter", and they just get even more in to it. I was so so irritated.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Last year he gets it if he stays healthy. I'd say he's a better player now than 2010 and his linemates are better. He averaged 1 point a game last season. Where are you finding those other 20 points from?
  21. Ugh, son of a b****. First Jason Parks, now Kiley McDaniel....now whose podcast am I going to listen to learn about prospects? His comprehensive list was so incredible, it's going to suck for Fangraphs to replace that kind of work he put in. I'm sure they won't.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Kane may have 100 on his own if he plays all 82 (barring injury/jail time) More than 20% better than his best ever season 5 years ago? Ehhh, I don't know about that.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 11, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) Played the Battlefront Beta. I liked it a lot. They extended the beta 2 more days.
  24. In an attempt to remedy the awful WiFi in my house, I bought a powerline adapter for $50 from Costco. I get it in tomorrow. I hope this s*** works.
  25. Here are my thoughts on Han-Ram..... His offensive comp for a 3B was pretty much Chase Headley. Headley had a 1.5 WAR last season. So if we say that this awful offensive season is what he will be from here on out, but at 3B, then we can guess he will be around a 1.5 WAR as a 3B. That's worth about $10M a year according to Fangraph's value of 1 WAR. Ramirez makes $22M a year for the next 4 *healthy* years, or 3 years if he is not healthy. So for it to be worth it for the White Sox, they would have to receive about $45M in the deal (or $45M minus the contracts of whatever we give them, LaRoche or Danks). Now, Danks was actually ALMOST worth his contract last season (Made $14.25M, was worth about $12.5M). So in this scenario, if they actually WANTED LaRoche, I would offer them something like LaRoche for Hanley + $35M and see what they do.
