  1. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) You said "Jesus." Aren't you aware that that is offensive to some people? How are you a moderator?
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) I totally get your reasoning here. You outline why I reneged on what I was offering initially. I literally threw that together in a waiting room with only 3G as service when I was bored. Then you got SouthSideSale and Chilihead freaking out about a mistake that I already acknowledged. My post created two pages of discussion though... Yep, I "freaked out" about Rich Hill no more than you "freaked out" about Nolan Arenado.
  3. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 06:18 PM) Renteria is a very good hire considering he'd probably still be the manager if not for Maddon. And he would have managed a playoff Cub team as well, because the Cubs didn't suddenly become good because of Joe Maddon.
  4. I think a Sox/Dbacks trade may work out pretty nicely. They need pitching, and have a lot of young talent, and extra OFs.....let's see.... SP Quintana for OF Ender Inciarte, SS Chris Owings, RHP Aaron Blair, 3B Brandon Drury. These are all depth pieces for the Dbacks, yet are still valuable, young pieces. Blair is a one of their top young pitchers, but they still have Shipley and Bradley in the farm, and Drury is behind Jake Lamb. I realize it may be hard to get on board with this trade as there are no slam-dunk players the Sox get back in return, however I believe they all provide upgrades. Inciarte immediately becomes better than Avi, and is an incredible defensive OF (something this team needs). Owings had a pretty awful 2015, but his 2014 was a solid one in his rookie year. He's only 24, but worth a shot. Brandon Drury had an awesome 2015 minor league campaign, especially in AAA where he hit .331. He is a very good contact hitter, has great hands on defense, and is considered to be an above-average MLB 3B. Scouts think he can profile with enough power to play 3B. Aaron Blair was just ranked (as of yesterday) their #4 prospect. He's a contact, ground-ball artist. Not exciting, but potential #3 starter. Make that trade and then sign someone like Jordan Zimmermann and the super interesting Rich Hill, and I think this club becomes immediately better through only 3 moves. Still not playoff contender, but Hahn would just have to make a move for a good C and we may be in business. CF - Eaton (L) 3B - Drury ® DH - Abreu ® RF - Inciarte (L) LF - Melky (S) 1B - LaRoche (L) C - Anyone but Flowers ® SS - Owings/Saladino ® 2B - Micah (L) SP - Sale-Zimmermann-Rodon-Hill-Danks/Johnson Inciarte/Drury will improve our defensive over last season very easily. Rotation is still dominated by lefties, but oh well.
  5. I've already advocated for Rich Hill last week, but not on a 2 year deal, especially worth $16M, Jesus. Give me 1 yr/$8M, but if you're going 2 yrs (simply to outbid the comp, not because it's a good idea), then no more than $12M.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) killjoy. but with ref to McMahon their other 3b prospect. if anything they would trade him instead. This is entirely dependent on whether or not the Rockies think they are are in their championship window right now, or in a couple years. They just traded Tulo, Reyes is under a lot of fire with the law right now, they have been rumored to be trading Cargo for a while now. If they aren't ready to win now, then they may as well dump their biggest asset for a #1 starter if they have a guy to replace that asset in 2 years anyway. Not that McMahon will be as good as Arenado, but they Q is under team control longer than Arenado, and will be cheaper than Arenado once Nolan hits arb. And Q in the NL would likely improve his value in the event they decide to trade him again in 2 or 3 years anyway. I don't necessarily think this trade lines up perfectly, but I can see the rationale behind the Rockies doing it. If you think this is a video game trade, then it's clearly because you undervalue Quintana immensely. He's a top 15-20 starter.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) God I hope this carries over to the spring I'm actually planning on moving about 8 minutes south of Camelback Ranch in February. I'm going to go to every game during my days off. I'll report back.
  8. Engel went 2/3, 2B, 3B, BB, 3 R, SB. Now hitting .420 on the Fall. 5 straight multi-hit games. Is that good?
  9. Jose Quintana for Nolan Arenado. *Drops mic*
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) So can any Missouri fans/students/graduates fill us in on why a number of their black athletes are saying they won't play until the university's president is fired? From the article I read, there was ONE racist incident on campus (two if you count the poop swastika) that didn't go punished, possibly because they have no idea who did it. But they want the president to apologize on behalf of the white student I guess? Or apologize for not doing something about it incident, to which again, I don't even know if they identified the students other than being white.
  11. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) Box score lists two walks and two singles. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gi...ox&sid=l119 Yep, went back and watched the recording I had of it and watched the 2 PAs I missed. Everyone was being replaced, so I just assumed he had as well. Would have liked to see him square a ball up, but his speed will earn him a lot of infield hits.
  12. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 10:16 PM) 2 hits. 2 walks. 2 runs. 1 stolen base. 1 RBI. solid night by adam engel in all-star game. Did he have 2 walks? How did I completely miss that other PA. But yeah, the kid looked real good. However, I didn't see him have to make a single play in CF, which was weird.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=94182 Hindsight makes Chilihead, greg and I look good in here. What a group. Also, Wite looks dumb. You suck Blake!!!! Snarky comment aside, let the record show that Wite wouldn't trade Zach Duke for Kang. BOO THAT MAN!!
  14. Or Rick Hahn can be extra Slick Rick and go throw a 1 yr/$7M deal at Rich Hill. The ghost of Rich Hill emerged for 4 starts at the end of 2015 w/ the Red Sox. He put up a 1.1 WAR with a K/9 over 11 and a BB/9 at 1.55. Dave Cameron said he has absolutely NO IDEA what kind of deal Rich Hill is going to get. Says he has certainly caught interest suddenly, but has no idea if he could get something like 1 yr/$4M or 1 yr/$12M. He says it will be probably get a 1 yr deal, as teams are unsure and Rich Hill wants to prove he's worth more.
  15. As much as I really dislike Latos and his wife as personalities, I think he could be a really solid pick up for a 1-2 year deal. He was a real quality starter for 4 years. He is only 28 years old and Coop has a lot of video to dissect and figure out how to get him back to that form from a couple years ago. I totally think he's worth a flier. Or maybe if not Latos, Ian Kennedy might not be a bad project similar to Latos. Sign him for a 1-year "comeback" type deal. Or Hahn can just pull him dick out at the Winter Meetings again and go sign Jordan Zimmermann out from under everyone while teams are all fighting over Price, Grienke, and Cueto.
  16. 35 years old, hasn't played a full season as a starter in his career......sure. Give him 1 yr/$3M, why not.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 10:30 PM) http://www.gamespot.com/articles/uncharted...i/1100-6428492/ It's not open-world, but I think I'd rather have a linear Star Wars campaign anyway. I don't want to imagine the awful side missions in a Star Wars game. "Hey, go fetch those power cells for me, but they're heavily guarded." It says right in that article that it is rumored to be an open-world game, but EA has no confirmed anything. It doesn't have to be open-world like Assassins Creed I guess, but maybe something closer to Shadow of Mordor that didn't seem to have those "Collect 100 of this and do this dumb task" type of things.
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) Engel 2-4 with a 2B. Wondering what has caused this offensive outburst. Maybe he's just learning to use that gigantic insanely athletic body.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) Because I feel like it's missing that indescribable, authentic Star Wars feel. Side note, Instant Action was by far my favorite game mode and as far as I know, it's not an option in the new one I HATE the lack of campaign mode. Give me an open-world Star Wars game and you can take $100 from me. Now I understand that Battlefront has never been an open-world game, but I was hoping they would give us SOMETHING like CoD does. I was so hyped for that Star Wars 1331 game or whatever it was called a few years ago before it was suddenly cancelled. EDIT: Star Wars 1313 was the name. That's from 3 years ago. I guess when Disney acquired LucasArts, they cancelled the game.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Also "witness account" including her friend was contrary to her account. Pretty sure she hooked up with one of his friends thinking it was him. And saw the dollar signs.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) Star Wars Battlefront may get me to buy a PS4 finally. Wow. Really? It went from a no-s*** purchase to a "maybe eventually" type of buy.
  22. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) Like I said, they may not do anything. I would be shocked if people in the Blackhawks organization aren't looking at the possibility of intervening on Patrick Kane's drinking. Do we know that he was drunk when he went home with the accuser?
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) #14 SOS and lost to the #1 ranked team by two points on the road, how is that a bad resume? Because Notre Dame.
  24. I'll never forget when Nathanial Stoltz said that Adam Engel is the closest physical specimen to Mike Trout that he had seen. It's always in my mind when I think about Adam Engel.
