So yeah, as I said last time, I'm still not impressed by Erik Johnson. Doesn't mean I think he's bad, or that he had no potential, but I mean from these 7 innings or whatever we have seen him pitch, I haven't thought he looks like a top prospect. He did drop a sick curveball to the #2 hitter for Detroit though on an 0-1 count.

Sale is 1st in IP, 1st in ERA, 1st in BB/9, 1st in K/BB, 2nd in WHIP, 3rd in K/9, 3rd in oppBA, 4th in HR/9 Those are the stats that most baseball writers will look at, unfortunately they will also look at Wins, which he ranks last of those 4 in, and has an 11-12 record, which some writers may completely dismiss his vote because of. As far as Sabermetric numbers go, he looks much less favorable.

Sale is at 113 pitches through 8, but screw it, I'd like him at least start the 9th. He is already on 6-7 day rest each start, and has 6 Ks over the past 3 innings.

Alexei has made a pair of really slick plays at SS so far tonight.

I feel like Phegley's goal on every groundout where he is trying to beat the throw, he is trying to stop himself as close to 1st base as he can. At least 4 or 5 times now I have seen him slow down as he approaches 1st and then come to a complete stop 5 feet past 1st. It's like he doesn't realize he can run through the base, it's weird and he is going to break an ankle stopping so hard.

I hate to mention this, because it just means this thread will be immediately locked, but I am actually rooting for a 30-0 White Sox winner tonight, in which Sale throws a perfecto and Scherzer gives up 30 runs in the 1st inning and loses. I know Sale is a long shot, but I'd like to think he has an outside chance at the Cy Young if he finishes super strong and Scherzer/Feliz/Kuroda/Darvish struggle somewhat.
