  1. Sox messed up a rundown? Ugh. Hope this doesn't came back to haunt us.....
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:44 PM) I'm so happy that he's thrown f***ing 2 clean innings Uh...oh. Sample size engaged!!! WITESOXFAN MAD!!! Hide you children, hide your wife!
  3. Come on Edwin, 14 K's! Beat Big Time Timmy Jim's high water mark of the year!
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) i was just kidding,it was a joke. (i think we all knew it was coming) UNACCEPTABLE!
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) jinxed it I don't think saying something, and then it actually happening is a jinx. If I said "At least AJ hasn't grounded in to any double plays yet", and then he does, then I think that's a jinx.
  6. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) What about 2007 and 2008? How many innings did he play in the OF? I don't put much stock into defensive metrics, defense is very hard to measure statistically. I know watching him play in Pittsburgh the last couple years he is not a good OF. How do the other defensive metrics other than UZR measure his defense? In 2008 he didn't play any LF, and in 2007 he was below average, but only played 11 games, so we can throw that one out too, along with 2006 where he only played 26 games. So 2009 and 2010 were the only seasons he played a good amount of time in LF, and was above average in LF both times according to UZR, UZR/150, and ErrR.
  7. QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) Did anyone say Milledge was better or worse than CQ in the field? When has Milledge been an above average LF? His defense has been an abomination for several years now. If he could play some defense he wouldn't have had to sign a minor league contract this offseason. Even if Milledge was better in the field than Quentin, who cares? Quentin has proven in the past that he is capable of murdering the ball. Milledge has proven he can be let go by both the Nationals and the Pirates. In 2010 with a 0.3 UZR In 2009 with a 2.4 UZR In 2006 with a 1.9 UZR 2007 w/ the Mets was the only year where he was below average in LF.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) He did the same thing in spring training, he just can't judge a fly ball to save his life. He either takes a step the wrong way or freezes on everything that's hit out there, yes, he's really f***in bad in the of. And I never said Quentin was better than anyone but so far this season he's been just fine out there. It could be the combination of him being healthy(keeping fingers crossed) and getting used to playing rf again or it could just be the fact that it's only been 5 games but so far he's made every play he's had to and he looks good in doing so. Alright, well then I disagree. He was not really f***in bad in the of. He was just fine in spring training. It's funny that this team can own the 2nd worst fielder in the MLB last year, and fans can still be fooled into thinking he is better in the OF than someone who has been a historically above average LF.
  9. You know, Jackson threw a no-hitter vs. the Rays last year.....
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) He's literally gotten a bad jump on every ball that has been hit to him in the of so far, he's really f***in bad out there. On a side note, besides the fact that Q isn't going to throw anyone out from rf, he's actually be solid out there so far. After 2 games we are going to make that call that Milledge is "really f***ing bad out there", and say the 2nd worst fielder in all the majors last year (Quentin), could actually be better out there? Give me a break. I saw enough of Milledge in spring training to know he is better than the 2 games he has played out there.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I just reread that, sorry. But still, it was a catch he should have made, he didnt look the ball into his mitt. It was equally as bad as Teahens drop. The difference is that Teahen is signed for another year And again, I said it was a catch he should have made. lol. But still, I don't see how that can be as bad as Teahen's. Teahen's was a pop fly that he was sitting under, flat footed, and facing the infield. Milledge was going towards the wall, it was over the shoulder, and he as on the run/jog. Teahen's was completely inexcusable. Milledge's was just bad.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) He was running TOWARDS the wall, not running into the wall. He had plenty of space between him and the wall, I dont think he even was on the track yet I said "to", not "into".
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) I haven't had a change to watch any of the games this year, but from what i've read he hasn't exactly looked sharp in the field. Anyone have any specifics to share? From what I've seen, he dropped a ball while running to the wall (not the easiest of catches, but should have been made), and then he broke in on a ball that ended up going over his mitt to the wall. So by my count, he made 2 mistakes, neither of which were as bad as Teahen's pop fly drop yesterday. Basically, he is still probably better than Quentin in the OF.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) That's not the strongest 14-team league if he's still available, he already got a save like two days ago. Pick him up! Only 4 of us really follow baseball hardcore. The others are either casual fans, or not even fans at all. It's a group of friends, so some did it just for that reason. Anyway, I dropped Contreras and picked up Walden.
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) I would think there is probably more to the story. He was pretty brutal in the field, but he's a better hitter than Lillibridge. Him being "brutal" in 2 games in the field were still better than Teahen has been at any position. It's amazing how much security Teahen has just because of that mother f'n contract.
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) Try 3. In like 6 or 7 chances. Yeah, he had a couple misplayed balls, DFA HIS ASS! Seriously, if this was true then there would be tons of players DFA'd. It had to be something more along of the lines of him screwing up inside the clubhouse, or Lillibridge holding Kenny's family hostage.
  17. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) So what is his status now? He can choose to accept a demotion or become a FA, is that right? I think all 29 teams have a chance to claim him, if they don't, then he gets the choice of accepting demotion or opting for FA.
  18. Ummm what? This is dumb. They are seriously going to take Lilli over Millidge? I guess the Battle of the Millibridge took an unfortunate turn.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Looks like the Angels have the Craig Kimbrel of the AL in this Jordan Walden. I knew I should've scooped his ass up in fantasy earlier. Like Rodney's sorry ass was going to last. Yeah, but is Walden going to close? He is available in my 14-team league...
