  1. Large win. A win tomorrow may light the spark they need, and it wouldn't hurt if the Twins got cold for a couple weeks.
  2. Stanton was 3-4 for Jax. I'm glad the Sox are facing the Marlins next weekend, and not in June. He may be up by then.
  3. That's got to be Marquez's best game in the Sox org. Good for him. This Brandon Short, wow. 4-5. Hitting .393.
  4. Span CF, Hudson 2B, Mauer C, Morneau 1B, Cuddyer RF, Kubel DH, Young LF, Harris SS, Punto 3B Hardy put on the DL.
  5. Ok, fair enough. Let's give them more time. To me, the math has already caught up to them. We'll see if they can get hot, or if the Twins and Tigers turn into bad teams.
  6. I guess we have different opinions of this team. I don't think they lose games because they're unlucky; they lose because they're bad. The bullpen has moments of brilliance, but they've also had moments of being horrible--including Thornton, who is probably the best lefty reliever in baseball. They don't hit in the clutch. Their OBP is awful. The defense has been bad. Winning teams win, and losing teams lose. That's how it goes. If they want to start winning now, and in bulk, great. I won't be holding my breath. And I'm sorry, 13-19 is a TON worse than 16-16 at this point in the season. That's why those tough losses are tough...because they stay in the standings all year long. They don't leave the loss column.
  7. Shack-- There's a huge difference between 13-19 and 16-16. I hate to break that to you, but there is. Just do this...assume the Sox are out of it until they get to .500. When they get there, then see how many games out they are, and go from there. Until they get to .500, there's no point in being Mr. Positive.
  8. Danks is starting tomorrow, isn't he? I wanted Danks and Buehrle this series.
  9. I thought the Sox would want to load up on lefties against the Twins. I thought that made more sense. Now Floyd and Peavy will be starting a week between starts. In my opinion, you keep your top 4 on schedule, and push your 5th starter back.
  10. So a guy that played 2/3 of a baseball season that hit .270, 14 homers, 28 doubles, and knocked in 63....and learned a new position at the major league level and did well, was rushed to the majors? Uh, no. This is just a slump. A slump that a lot of second year players go through (Coghlan). He will get through it, and be fine. I have no doubt about that. Could Beckham be sent down for a short time to get his swing back? Sure, that may be the right thing to do for him. But he should not be sent down for the rest of the year, and he wasn't "rushed".
  11. Phillies get 84 home games, and Halladay misses out on a Toronto return. Life in 2010... http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=phi
  12. I'd like to know the percentage of teams that are 6 games under or worse after 32 games, that actually get to over .500 sometime that same season.
  13. Rain is moving out in Minneapolis. Looking forward to seeing the new park with the White Sox in it. Not sure why Garcia is starting in this series considering Danks and Buehrle could be starting on normal rest, and they have another off day on Thursday.
  14. If you think the Sox are in it, knock yourself out. More power to you. You better hope the Twins and Tigers turn into bad baseball teams in a hurry.
  15. Embree has been assigned to Charlotte.
  16. I want a sweep either way. Sox sweep-- Ok... cut it to 6 games, get to 15-19, which is starting to sniff .500. Twins sweep-- 10 games out, and 8 games under .500. Everyone will acknowledge the Sox are out of it, and it will be easier to deal with. Split-- Then it's a nothing series, and they go to KC and prolong the agony.

Morel 3-4, HR, 3 RBIs, SB. Now at .324.

Mike Stanton --2 walks and a homer. That guy is a beast.

    Morel homer. He's at .318.

2 solo homers for Tyler Flowers.

Leadoff double for Short. He's back at it after the streak ended. Birmingham facing Jacksonville this week--Mike Stanton. Brent Morel with an RBI single.

  23. Historically--Buehrle is 24-16 against the Twins, and he's beaten them this year already...and he's coming off a good start.
  24. Yes, they should skip Freddy. I thought the whole point of skipping him last time was top set the rotation for Danks and Buehrle to face the Twins. They should do that, but whatever.
  25. Chet--I like that rule. Maybe I'd say .250, but Beckham needs to lose the music.
