  1. Schilling 71.1. 16 short. No way he gets in by the writers next year.
  2. Buehrle has three more public votes since this morning. 17 down, 3 to go.
  3. They didn't do a committee this year, but I'm sure Minoso will be considered again, and get in eventually. It really is a joke how Minnie was overlooked. Got a late start because of his color, and then he was the 2nd best AL player from 1951-1961.
  4. Announcement day is here. A lot of public votes pouring in this morning. Schilling will be close, but I think he’ll come up short and then have even fewer votes next year (his last year on the ballot), because of the recent comments. Buehrle needs about 6 votes from the half of the unknown ballots to remain next year. I’m interested to see where Tim Hudson ends up because he probably has a better case than Buehrle, yet he’ll probably fall off the ballot. Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz and a few other good players join the crowded ballot next year. Announcement a little after 5pm central.
  5. But the Sox traded Thome to the Dodgers. Anyway...how about a real move instead of wannabe reporters trying to get their jollies?
  6. 5 of 15 is perfect for baseball if they play a long season. Last year was understandable, but please stop wanting 7 or 8 in each league. It’s terrible.
  7. Our stars are already here. Wainwright is fine as a 5, and you can’t deny he’ll be great for the clubhouse. Same for Yadi if they can convince him to be a part timer.
  8. He just needs to stop hurting himself. Know where the wall is. Stop jumping into the net. Throw to the right place. If he does that, we can put up with the lack of range.
  9. Good to see Buehrle get some votes and probably will stay on the ballot, but the weirdness of ballots this year is at a new level. Nobody is getting in but luckily they have last years class for a potential ceremony. Including Hawk.
  10. Larry King, 87
  11. Some great tributes to Hank today. The real Home Run King.
  12. To start the season, yes. I don’t want Vaughn blocked the whole season...unless they trade him for a really good pitcher. Don’t want Cruz. Never like the Sox taking on cheaters after they’ve been suspended for PEDs as major leaguers. But what’s one more, right?
  13. Team Andrew Vaughn
  14. I shouldn’t be shocked, but I am. This sucks. Rest in peace, Henry.
  15. RIP Don Sutton
  16. Want to add one thing about 7-inning doubleheaders...it needs to be fair. If they're going to do it, it needs to be because they're trying to shorten the season by playing an equal amount of scheduled doubleheaders for each team. If a game gets rained out, the make up game still needs to be 9 innings. It can't just be "all doubleheaders are 7 innings". Yes, they did what they had to do in 2020, but it isn't what I would want going forward.
  17. Manfred says prepare for 162 and spring training starting on time, but no clarity on the DH five weeks away from spring training...that's MLB in a nutshell. They both want the DH, but the owners want to hold out for leverage to get something else. 7-inning doubleheaders...never liked them, but understood why they did it last year. if they do it again, I hope it's for the same reason and when the pandemic is over they go back to 9-inning games, because that's what major league players play. Runner on 2nd in extras...ridiculously stupid, but again, understand why they did things to shorten the amount of time at the park. My compromise...play real baseball in the 10th and 11th inning, and start the man on 2nd in the 12th inning, Better yet, only play real baseball, but have ties after 12 innings in the regular season. Half point in each of the win and loss columns. Expanded postseason-- understand why they did it last year, but 162 is the test, and the postseason should be for the teams that excelled over six months. I think 5 out of 15 in Baseball is perfect. I could live with 6 in each league, but wouldn't like it. Anything more than 6 is really bad.
  18. Tony La Russa’s age days until Opening Day.
  19. Now Eaton is listed as 12. Hendriks is 31.
  20. Not an original thought, but Kluber and Boston match up well.
  21. I think we may be off on the number/days thing. 34 days if it's Feb. 17. Freddy Garcia days. Speaking of numbers, Madrigal is back to 1, and Eaton is listed as 6 on one of the pages...retired for Lau, but maybe that's done now.
  22. I prefer Chet Lemon
  23. Wainwright and Molina just makes sense if they want to be here.
  24. Morosi voted for Buehrle, so that's 14 down , 6 to go to stay on the ballot. Someday they'll realize he belongs. Same with Tim Hudson and Johan Santana from that era of baseball,
  25. If he does a podcast with Kipnis, Aloha Mr. Hand.
